Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift is a sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and the latest release of the Ivalice series. The game continued to use the isometric turn-based grid system, however, some enemies can now take up multiple squares on the grid. The world map now has area maps, which feature multiple battle locations and missions (over 300+) are central to the story.
The jobs have been expanded and characters can learn abilities by equipping job-specific weapons, armor, etc. Tne game received positive reviews and scored a 34/40 from Famitsu Magazine. Many praised the length and replay value of the game while others disliked the childish theme and camera restrictions.
Several of the units used in Final Fantasy Tactics A2 were later used for the series of Crystal Defenders games.
