Well, FF VIII was a cult hit... it didn't have nearly the commercial success that FF VII had, but none-the-less, many users loved the game so much they literally pray for a Final Fantasy VIII-2...
Unfortunately, this will not happen. Square Enix won't even make a sequal to Final Fantasy VII, and that game has a far larger following. There have been some fake battle scenes making people think there will be a new sequel to FFVIII, but SE still confirms that there will be NO sequel.
