Final Fantasy VIII

Junction System

The Final Fantasy 8 junction system is a very intricate, customizable way of modifying your character's stats. Although it may seem alien to you at first, you will soon understand it very well and find yourself spending a lot of time perfecting your characters attributes. This type of freedom to customize your characters in any which way you feel is just great.

Magic which you have drawn can be equipped to your attributes, including things like attack, strength, speed, vitality, and so on. Adding magic to these attributes will increase that stat by a number of points, depending on the type and power of that magic. For example, the strong spell ULTIMA will increase any of your stats by a lot, but a weak spell like scan will not aid your stats that much. Also, consider the type of magic, and where it is most likely to work best. Haste is a type of magic that invloves speed, so adding it to your SPEED attribute is a good idea, and will probably work best in that attribute.

You can also add magic to your defence from elemental attacks and your status defence. If you are to add 100 firaga's to your FIRE elemental defence, you will now absorb that type of magic. Also, add status magic to your defence to help protect against them.
