Much like Final Fantasy I, this game was re-released more than one time. The cult success and unique battle system allowed this game to get some attention when packaged with FFI. Final Fantasy IIj was originally released for the Japanese FAMICOM, very few changes were rendered from the original releases in the compilation versions.

• Included in Final Fantasy Origins - Sony Playstation in 2002 (first official release of game outside of Japan)
• Included in Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls - Gameboy Advance in 2004
• Ported to Playstation Portable in 2007 as part of the 20th Anniversary edition
• Ported to iPhone in 2010
