Movie News: 12/12/06
Just a little bit of what's going on in the movie arena that we may all be interested in depending on your movie genre you enjoy!
Movie Title: Hitman Release Date: In development For some time the popular video game series Hitman was announced to be released as a motion picture by the Fox based movie company. Vin Diesel, becoming main-stream after his starring role in "The Fast and the Furious" and "XXX" was originally casted as the leading star in "The Hitman" but has now been dropped and taking his place will be Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood). Skip Woods, who directed Swordfish, will be adding his magical touch in the movie still.Movie Title: Rush Hour 3 Release Date: August 10th, 2007 Jackie Chan was injured recently while shooting a fight scene for Rush Hour 3. According to a posting on his website, Chan was hit in the chest by a steel-reinforced table. The injury was apparently not serious, but I think if I got hit in the chest with a steel-reinforced anything it would be pretty serious. This is the second time in the past year that the actor has been hit in the chest during a movie production.Movie Title: The Hobbit Release Date: Q4 2007, more than likely Director Peter Jackson, who filmed the sensational Lord of the Rings, has been informed by New Line Cinema that his services won't be required on the studio's upcoming Hobbit film; the same goes for a potential prequel to LOTR.Movie Title: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Release Date: Q4 2007, more than likely The loveable green turtles are making a comeback in 2007 with a new film, which is CG based. Set it New York City, the team feels lost and without direction when faced with the newest threat!Movie Title: Beverley Hills Cop IV Release Date: Q2 2008 Forget The Haunted Mansion, I Spy, and (*shudder*) The Adventures of Pluto Nash, Eddie Murphy is set to make a comeback old-school style in Beverly Hills Cop IV According to today's Variety, Murphy has teamed with Paramount and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to revisit the action-comedy series that centers around detective Axel Foley. Production will begin after his role in Shrek the Third is completed. Last edited by hellbred; 12-12-2006 at 06:58 PM. |

To go off on a tangent, I just want to say I found Ong-Bak to be very overrated. I had heard many good things about the film - and people comparing Tony Jaa to Bruce Lee. If that comparison actually means making poor to mediocre quality films merely saved by some above average on screen martial arts then...I have yet to see. I haven't watched any other Tony Jaa films. Other than the fight scenes in Ong-Bak I felt all other aspects of the film were uninspired and basic, with over reliance on Tony Jaa's athletic/fighting ability to sell the film. Quote:

Hahaha.
Anyway. Hitman will suck. C'mon... it's going to be another borish movie about the same thing everything else is about... Rush Hour 3 might be alright, but the Rush Movies are alllll the same as each other... With minor storyline differences... It gets boring after a while...

^ Chez, what the hell do you mean with all? They've only made two movies! For you to refer to it as "all" would require that at least three movies would have been made to date, otherwise the reference should be made to "both" as in "both were the same" (I love being a smart ass piece of shit haha
).But I personally have to disagree. I liked both Rush Hour movies so far and can't wait to watch the third installment. In my opinion, the storylines were changed enough from the first to the second movie to count as differing enough and therefore not be considered watered-down or re-used. Hell, to each his own though. Hitman sounds like it's going to be terrible in my opinion. They might as well change the title. It's not like the kind of storyline present in Hitman isn't something they've done in Hollywood before. I figure they're relying on the name alone to sell it, a big mistake that is continually made in movie making nowadays. If it's truly definite that Peter Jackson is NOT going to work on The Hobbit, I am greatly dissappointed. Gives me the feeling that they are going to vouch for a less demanding director (in hopes of saving money) and ultimately ruin the series as a result. Can't they stop thinking about money first and foremostly and instead consider the actual service, which is to make good movies. Damn greedy moneymaking bastards, the whole bunch o' them.

You know, the movie I'm looking forward to the most next year isn't even on that list. Spiderman 3! It's going to have Venom in it!!!! And Eric Forman (That 70's Show) is going to be Eddie Brock. Also, the Sandman's going to be in it. But still, Venom's in it!!!! lol.

Before you start worrying just yet about The Hobbit, there is another interesting piece of information that should be considered. New Line is going to be losing their rights to LOTR next year and it is going to be reverting back to the company that had them before. This is some Germany company if I recall, I can't remember the name. But the company did step up and say that if Peter Jackson was willing, they would hire him to do the movie. Which means that New Line won't be able to make another movie after next until since they will probably not be getting the rights renewed. There is still hope for Jackson to direct it.
