Can someone PLZ help me with Silent Hill?

Yep. I need help with "Silent Hill" the film. I don't get it at all. There are a few things that I get, but a few certain things I need clearin up.

Spoiler: I don't get why Rose can't see Christopher at the end, even tho they're in the same house, they can't see each other, Why? I don't get why there are three of the little girls, they all look the same, there's Alessa, Sharon and that freaky looking one who says she has "Many names" I don't get it. Why is there three of them? Are they like triplets or something?

A lot of Silent Hill is open-ended, so some of the answers won't be 100%, but I can give you what I think.

Also, props to Daddy for talking this out with me ages ago through IM's and giving some very valid points for the storyline.

Spoiler: and Alessa share a soul, so, when Sharon starts to have nightmares about Silent Hill, it's Alessa calling her back. Sharon was adopted near Silent Hill, hence why it has some relevence.

Rose, against her husbands' wishes, leaves for Silent Hill with Sharon to find a healer or something to help Sharon recover from her illness.

I'm not completely sure since I've only seen the film once, but when I see it again, I'll update this thread and give you s'more input.

Yeah. The games are my favourite series, and the movie is my favourite movie.

I could say loads more about the plot summary as well. One thing I always find interesting with the games is that the monsters always mean something, and they all have different personalities... and the great thing is, they've added this into the movie as well, making it an enjoyable psychological experience. Allow me to explain...

Colin the janitor

Spoiler: raped Alessa... In turn, Alessa wished for him to become sexually unable. And so that's why he was bent over, legs behind his head, unable to complete penetration. His tongue flicking suggestively... That was caused from Alessa's pain.

Everything has a relation to Alessa and Sharon.

I can explain the others, too.

In Silent Hill 2, there were creature called "torso's" which were basically walking corpses without faces, that shook. There's one in the film, if you remember clearly, it shot a tar-like substance that burnt off Cybil's coat. In Silent Hill 2 (the game), the torso's represented...

Spoiler: The pain of James, the main character, who was guilty of killing his wife by smoothering her with a pillow. In the game, James cannot remember what he's done, believing she died from a terminal illness that was going to eventually kill her anyway. The torso's seem to embody the way Mary seem to be, as she drew to her ending days - isolated. She felt ulgy and as if she was useless, which made her bitter and self-hating. I believe that James' feelings toward the torso's were the way he killed his wife -- smoothering her while she screamed, cried and thrashed about, trying to come free of his grip.

Now, in the movie, it's different. In the movie, I feel...

Spoiler: That this was how Rose saw Sharon. That Sharon was isolated within her own terrified mind. And I believe it also represents the pain Alessa went through when she was tied up and burnt. She couldn't get free and the torso's represent feelings (in both Silent Hill 2 and the Silent Hill movie), of isolation, feelings of trying to get free and being emotionally unable to come to terms with death and suffering and so hiding it all inside. The look of struggling that the torso seems to go through. The way that it somewhat tries to becme free of itself, only failing and becoming irritated.

See what I mean?

Now, the bugs are another representation from Silent Hill 2. I don't know what they represent, although I feel that...

Spoiler: They display how confused and fuzzy things are to the characters. And in some respects, how they seek answers, but the answers are covered up. (The bugs "covered" everything.)

I already explained about Colin so I won't bother with him again.

The grey children from the Silent Hill movie are a Silent Hill 1 thing, but they aren't usually seen as so... In Silent Hill 1, little children that carried knives were displayed, but since this was "too disturbing", Konami was forced to make changes, and so they replaced the demonic children with monsters that stabbed the main character. I feel both the grey children and the knife monsters mean the same thing.

Spoiler: In the Silent Hill movie, Sharon was adopted, and in Silent Hill 1, Cheryl was Harry's adopted daughter. I feel that the children represented the fact that both sets of parents was APPARENTLY baron and were unable to concieve. And I feel that the loss of a child, even though doubts that they were alive or dead, was too devasting and so these were merged by Alessa's mind and created into the world of Silent Hill 1 and the movie.

The nurses are a part of each Silent Hill game and the movie, and so they are a famous asset to Silent Hill. I shall give a brief description on WHY they exist in Silent Hill at all. This has a LOT to do with the movie especially.

In Silent Hill, the movie...

Spoiler: Alessa was cared for by the nurses, and this is the same in Silent Hill 1 as well. Alessa, apparently didn't really like the nurses because they were apparently noisy and unwanted. In the movie, you see Lisa's eyes bleeding from where Alessa blinded her. And in the Silent Hill 1 game, Lisa died after having realised she was actually just another nurse monster.

In Silent Hill 3, Heather remembers how Lisa looked after her. But the monsters represented Alessa's hatred for them. In Silent Hill 2, the nurses had banaged faces (like in SH1 and the movie), which I believe is because of the truth not yet being uncovered. I think it's meant to give an aire of mystery to the series, as well as other things that could be related to these hideous beasts.

Now, last but definately not least...

Pyramid Head. This was another character taken from Silent Hill 2, and remade to look a little different in the game. They were going to make him look the same in the movie, but changed him because the helmet didn't work the first time around. Also, the guy who played Colin in the movie is the same guy who plays Pyramid Head.
Pyramid Head means many things. Daddy and I talked about this, and when I reminded him of things that had happened to Alessa, we both decided Pyramid Head could've been Alessa's protector. Like a father figure. Ipersonally also feel that...

Spoiler: Alessa needed a father figure and didn't have one. She was raped as a child by the school janitor, which determined her fate. She needed somebody to look after her, and the executioners in Silent Hill that looked like they had trianlges for heads (but were black cloths) seemed strong and as though they could look after Alessa, protect her from anything that tried to hurt her.

In Silent Hill 2, Pyramid Head represents...

Spoiler: James' sexual needs. In the game, Pyramid Head is seen having sex with a monster on a few different occassions, which seems to represents James having sex with his wife. James was unable to have sex with his wife because of her illness, which meant she always seemed to be in pain... Doesn't really create the needed romantic mood for a night of love, does it?

OK, One question, How many Silent hill's are there?!!!!! I thought there was only one!

I know there are loads of Silent Hill games, but I'm confused of if there is more than one movie? If so, then I think I might need to watch them! They might clear up some things too. Although I don't think I need any more clearing up becoz I think you've done it already! LOL. How do you know all this?</p>

There's one movies, four games, an explainitory PSP disk, and PSP game and a PS3 game for Silent Hill currently being developed.

There are three different Silent Hill's.

Old Silent Hill, which originates mainly from Alessa' memory of her life in the town.

Misty Silent Hill, which is as the name says, but some monsters escape from Dark Silent Hill into Misty Silent Hill.

And of course, Dark Silent Hill. The most frightening version of Silent Hill.
Dark Silent Hill is, basically, hell. The walls are usually blooded and rusty during this this stage.


I know all of the by paying very close attention to both the games and movie, and of course, TFF's Daddy has helped me considerably to clear some things up.
