I haven't seen this movie, but most of what I've heard about it villianizes the Israelis for their "retaliation". It's too bad that most people don't know much, if anything, about the situation with the '72 Munich Olympics, and I'm sure if the public were more educated, this movie would have made even less money. Granted, though, it did look good, until I read that it victimized the Palestinians.

I read a review of this film in that well known movie journal The Economist. For my reply I will assume what was writtin in there was true and accurate.

Being analytical and critical as ever, the article claimed the film was too biased against the Jews and too lenient towards the "terrorists". The example they cited was when some one of the targets sent his daughter out and the Mossad prepared to move in the film skipped over the fact the Palestinian was waiting for a call from his mistress, a fact not neglected in the book. Also, Munich apparently fails to portray any Palestinian victims in a slightly negative light. As a movie, it wasn't too bad but shouldn't be taken as fact or treated as an accurate representation of what happened.

And it is because of that review I chose not to see this film. That is how much faith I have in the accuracy of articles printed in The Economist. I dislike it when one side is demonized, especially in a film based on true events.

Why is "terrorists" in quotations? They murdered eleven people. At the Olympics, the one place where people are to put their national differences aside and compete. They were nothing but terrorists.

That was what was irritating -- not that they didn't mention that one of the terrorists had a mistress, but they portrayed the Palestinian terrorists as "victims" and Israel as the aggressor.

One side demonized themselves. The movie just reversed it.

Sorry for not being completely clear. Yes, the Mossad took revenge on those who carried out the killing of 11 Jewish athletes but there have been claims from the Palestinian side that some of those killed were not involved in the Munich operation. I'm not saying those claims are true, merely a possibility. Also, the revenge attacks ended up in innocent people dying, for example, an Arab man in Norway who they mistook for Ali Hassan Salameh.

Well I brought up that one of the terrorists had a mistress purely as an example for how the film, allegedly, portrays the Palestinians in a too sympathetic light.

Alright. But even if the Palestinians had been portrayed as completely evil and the Mossad presented as righteous bringers of justice, I probably still wouldn't want to see the film. Because when I watch a film founded on a real life happening I like to see balance between any factions and character flaws.
