Scenario-based RP volunteers wanted

Wanted:

A small number (three candidates maximum) to participate in a short series of scenario-based roleplays here on TFF.

Original and previously used characters are eligible. One character per test thread per user.

Scenarios will vary from accomplishing a certain task, defeating a specific enemy (controlled by me) or exiting from a certain space to name examples. The scenarios may be cooperative or competitive.

I've only started posting here so i'm afraid most of my characters havent been mentioned, however i'll do this assuming you dont mind me using a character that i've not used on here.

Please post or link to the profile of the character you wish to use. The profile is really just a formality staged for the benefit of fellow participants as opposed to having much impact on the test itself.

As I plan multiple test threads (occurring in sequence as opposed to simultaneously), multiple profiles may be posted.

It's an experiment.

To see if an RP based on simple goals can exist here. Often RPs on boards are burdened with the promise of being epic and long-lasting.

With a scenario-based RP, the story goes only for as long as the objective is attained without having to dither with non-sequitur storylines and multiple, convoluted story threads occurring simultaneously.

By linking scenarios or missions, a greater story can be achieved such as in a console RPG--more distinct chapters can be established with definite progression of the plot and characters.

But more importantly it's a test of an RPer's perseverance.

As the objectives become more complex, a demand for greater detail becomes apparent in the actions of the character--and so the author.

So take it as you will. See it as a practice or do it for the satisfaction that you saw it through even to defeat.

As an addendum, I have to say that the main reason why I created the Shiva Challenge was to see how people would react to an opponent that can't be defeated through strength of force alone.

This sounds quite interesting. I like to experiment with different styles, and have been in many different forms of RP, including those with more serious situations, and also more humerous and light-hearted ones. I don't think you've seen the roleplay I lead a couple of months ago (which sadly failed). Proof to a previous roleplay of mine can be found here (OOC) and here (RP). There are many other examples too. I find this idea of yours really interesting, and although I have not done this form of RP, I feel it should be a great thing to be a part of.

Character Bio:

Name: Runa Crimsona

Physical description: A pretty young woman with a delicate figure, though she has hidden strength. Her hair is long and of a crimson colour, with emerald-green eyes. Her petite physique makes her an agile fighter, although out of battle, she is often found taking her time, resembeling her primarily laid-back nature.

Age: 18

Height: 5'4''

Weapon: Staf of Dragons. A part-staff, part-spear weapon. She uses this for dragoon abilities combined with red magic.

Attire: Red coat that doubles as a tunic, with a black knee-length skirt and vest top, black gloves and black boots.

Bio: Runa is a secretive girl, wise above her age and often found reading up about the past in the libary. She may seem strange at times, but is friendly to those who are open to her.

Name: Clive Fatima
Alias: The Obsidian Knight
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Appearance: Clive is a tall man, standing a staggering six feet four inches. He has long black hair that cascades down to just below his broad shoulders. He has deep green eyes that seem to gaze into the very depths of the souls of his friends and enemies alike. His left ear is pierced with an obsidian cross. He has thin lips that seldom part. A silver chain with an obsidian Dragon entwined with an ivory Snake in a double helix fashion sit upon his neckline. His tanned skin seems to contrast his white leather trench coat which is always left unbuttoned, revealing a black wifebeater that clings to his well defined abs. He wears long loose fitting white leather pants that sport an intricate red design down the left leg. He has a black belt that supports a scabbard on the right side, and slots for his set of seven, six inch daggers on his left. Across his back, another strap that supports a sheath for his broadsword.

Alliance: Neutral

Personality: Clive is a quiet man who lets his actions speak for him. He has a furious temper that is hard to ignite. He cares for few, and shows little emotion.

Weapons:
Serpent Strike: A short sword that is sheathed on Clive's right side. A guardless less blade, the handle it wrapped in a strong leather hide that has been dyed red. The blade itself is etched with intricate designs that have been stained red. The blade is viciously sharp; one slip of Clive's hand could prove fatal if this were to occur in battle. The scabbard itself is engraved with images of silver lightening bolts upon it's black exterior. A silver end cap lies at the end of the scabbard.

Obsidian Silence: Across Clive's back sits the infamous Obsidian Silence. A hefty broadsword expertly crafted from flawless obsidian. The blade itself is four and half feet in length, the hilt and handle bring the massive blade's total length to five feet, four inches. Clive wields this blade with uncanny strength and speed. Having trained with it for so long, he no longer notices the weight of the blade.

Abilities:

Dark Dash: Due to his large size, Clive had to master the art of being swift. As time continued, Clive mastered the Dark Dash technique, which allows him to speed across the landscape at a higher rate of speed than he normally would have. But, long term use of this drains Clive of his energy very quickly.

Backlash: Clive grips his Obsidian Silence, and lashes upward with it, sending a dark wave energy towards his opponent.

Dark Divide: Clive rushes his enemy, and unleashes a devastating swing from his Obsidian Silence, He then launches himself high into the air, and as he peaks he brings his sword above his head. He then freefalls towards the earth like a comet, as he comes within striking distance, he slams his blade down upon his enemy with an uncanny amount of force.



Biography:

Clive was born and raised in the upper plate of Midgar. As a boy he had caring parents, great friends, and no cares in the world. But then it happened, the plate collapsed. He barely survived, but his parents weren't so lucky. At the time he was only six years of age. When he awoke, he was in a makeshift home that used to be a train. He looked around and saw no one. Immediately fear seized his body. He sat there for waht seemed like days, until someone came back. The person revealed himself as Drake, he cared for the now silent Clive, he then trained him in the ancient art of Sword Fighting. At the age of fifteen, another tragedy occurred, Shin-Ra had Drake executed right before Clive's eyes. He then ran from the makeshift home, taking Drake's heirloom weapon...Serpent's Strike. He wandered until one day, he stumbled across an underground resistance force. They attempted to kill him, but Clive fought until nearly all of them were wounded....or dead. Their Leader then emerged from the darkness. He offered to let Clive join. Hesitantly, he agreed. He was then supplied his outfit, a white leather trench coat, and matching white leather pants. He was then taken to weapons supply room, where he was told to choose a weapon. Clive looked for a few moments, and then saw in the very back of the room, a broadsword, black in color. Clive grinned and grabbed it. He gazed at it for a moment, and realized that it was made of obsidian. At went to grab it, but at first it was too heavy, but after years of training, it became as light as any other sword he had wielded in the past.

Those who wish to join as an alternate in the event of a volunteer dropping out of the experiment may still post a profile. Alternates will be permitted to take the place of a volunteer on a first come first serve basis.

Interesting, It will be strange for me to partake in a RP which is built to be short as I am currently going for the TFF record of completing a LOOOOONG RP (Final Fantasy VII-2: Searching for the Truth).

Here's my proposed character anyway:


Name: Roger Yrots

Physical description: Roger was always told from youth that he had the face of a movie star, which would have been true if there where such things at the time. He is tall and thin with blond hair which grows to his shoulders and curls at the end. He has a pale skintone which is similar to those who live at the most northen point of Scotland.

Age: 21

Height: 187cm

Weapon: Apollo's Harp, as unusual a weapon it may be, the strings are tightened so that it is played with a frequency that would physically damage those not acustomed to hearing the beautiful music that it plays.

Attire: He wears clothes similar to those worn by a prince. He has a cyan hat (shaped similar to 'Robin Hoods or Peter Pans') and soft pointed shoes on his feet. He wears a navy shirt and turqoise trousers with a sky blue cloak on his back.

Bio: Roger was an ambitous boy who always got what he wanted without being spoilt in anyway. As he grew older he was employed for his musical talents and soon became a widely known name...

Name: Aarron Madstone (nick name)- Arron of wolves/dragons
Age: 19
Appearance: Blue battle armor, with silver vest, and black shoulder gaurds. Short spikey black hair, hazle brown eyes with a hint of green. Wears a plain silver chainwith a rusty silver ring hanging. Black leather gloves with blue gems on the backs.
Weapon: Lupis Draconus: Large Lance-Blade of the Wolf/Dragon Rider. Very long blade that gets wider from the tip towards thehilt and makes a large fanning arm guard.
Griffon wing: A large hunting bow, made for shooting down small dragons. Red with black arrows.

At the moment I am conflicted between throwing four of you (going against what I previously said about only three at a time) into a real, complex scenario or starting off simply to allow you all to get used to the practices of this style of roleplay. The advanced scenario will be quite detailed (to the point that a diagram will be listed to aid in your writing) whereas the practice scenario will be so simple that it may actually bore some of you.

Unlike the "real" scenario, the practice will require only three of you.

And if The Jackal King does not reply with a profile for a character sometime today he'll forfeit his first place and be moved to the back of the queue.
