I doubt that any of you remember me from Roleplay Jam a couple of years back, but here I am again. This RP takes place in the world of Final Fantasy VI, picking up a short time after the victory of Terra/Tina and the others at Kefka's tower. While the events I describe here in this thread do not directly involve any of the original fourteen playable characters or even any (with a single exception) of the well-known NPCs, this does not mean that participants are barred from using them. Play whoever you desire, in other words. Original or otherwise. I wish to know if this RP interests anyone before I post any required details for character bios/sheets. A Year After Kefka was destroyed, and his tower crumbled. Though magic had departed from the world, life had not. In the year following Kefka's destruction, the world seemed to bloom, its life doubly restored. With the Empire and Kefka gone, the people looked forward to peaceful days. The Gastra Consortium Masterless, the surviving members of the Cult of Kefka banded together their accumulated wealth and challenged the world's two largest economic powers, the Kingdom of Figaro and the city-state of Albrook, both of which were largely untouched by Kefka's tyrannical reign and his Light of Judgment. The Cult was primarily made up of members who once belonged to an Imperial order commonly known as The Adjustors, serving as the Empire's judiciaries and taxmen. With Kefka being the only remaining vestige of the great empire that they had pledged their lives to serve, they chose to side with him. Now as the Gastra Consortium, holding influence in nearly every town and city on the world map, they wish to rebuild the Empire they had lost. Saint Gestahl Following the immense prosperity of the cities and people came a resurgence or longing for the old. The year of hell had come and gone, and the demon Kefka had been destroyed. The advanced technologies that many had seen arise during the latter years of the Magitek Empire and its way of life were romanticized along with the life and image of its deceased monarch, Emperor Gestahl. A movement created by Imperial patriots and sympathizers living in towns and cities formerly under Imperial rule has turned Gestahl into a holy icon. In their revisionist version of history, they perceive the breaking of the world, caused by Gestahl's communion with the Three Statues as a judgment ordained by the divine. The traitor, Kefka, according to their neo scripture, killed Gestahl out of jealousy. The great cataclysm was a punishment issued unto man through Gestahl, the divine avatar. Fifteen men and women calling themselves the Children of Gestahl have taken upon themselves to profess his word. Possessing miraculous abilities that people could only describe as "magical," each claimed to be a son or daughter of "Holy" Emperor Gestahl. The Hermit Upon hearing a rumour that the only remaining member of the old Magitek Imperial regime, Professor Cid del Norte Marguez, was alive and well, living on an uncharted island west-southwest of Albrook, the Consortium's desire to build a functioning airship increased. After giving up hope of finding remains of Professor Cid's research among the charred remnants of the southern continent, the very rumour of his wellness came to the Consortium as a miracle. At the top of the tallest building in the city of Zozo (rebuilt with Consortium funds to be a haven of neon lights and twenty-four hour casinos), the leaders of the Gastra Cosortium release pigeons carrying a single message to their operatives in Albrook and Miranda: Cid must be taken. | ||||||||

| The Old Skool Warrior | As soon as I saw your handle on the list of recent posts, I almost shit myself. I halfway expected this to be an invite to the next RPJ or something. But since it's not, allow me to slip off-track for a moment and welcome you back to TFF. I thought you were here on business again; I never would have imagined you'd come back just for kicks. We must be doing something right. ![]() Now, to more important things, such as your RP. Question the First: How active would you like your participants to be? Between school, school, school, and starting a new business from scratch, I may be able to slip in one RP post per two weeks -- ideally one per week. Question the Second: If slight inactivity doesn't bother you much, would you mind if I joined? I was one of the late-comers into the last RPJ Tournament. We still have all of those forums, hidden from sight. Sometimes, I read through the old threads just for kicks. I was such a mediocre writer at the time. Question the Third: Refer to the PM I'm about to send you. ^_^ | ||||||||

| | I wouldn't mind a slow pace at all. Since you are aware of your own limitations concerning ability to post, I trust that you will be able to keep yourself up to date and contribute in such a capacity that will not retard the progress of the roleplay. That said, I would very much like to see you on. In reference to RPJ, I have to say that I every once in a while read those old posts hosted in secret here as well. Especially when I want to read some of Simon's old adventures. As for the future of RPJ, I will say for now that no future competitions are planned for this year, however 2006 we wish to host at least one. | ||||||||

| The Old Skool Warrior | Hmm... in that regard, maybe it would be best if I were to join as one of the fourteen PCs from the game. That way, since you said they would not be a pivotal part of the story, I could manage to slip in and out as a "guest star" without disrupting anything. I'm thinking Edgar -- with him being a king, it would make perfect sense for him to always be involved in some aspect or another with just about anything going on in the world. I'm quite interested to see what you have in store for us with the information presented. Who knows? Edgar could end up playing an important role later in the story. If you've got any guidelines as to how you'd like a character such as Edgar to be played (i.e. when he should make appearances, what sorts of things he should do, etc.), we can put this OOC to good use by plotting all of that stuff out in the times between my posts. Also note that I'll likely be more active within the coming weeks than I will in the months after that. These first classes are simple, and we've yet to lease a location for the business. Anywho, we'll work something out, I'm sure. | ||||||||
