Attention all Travesty RP posters:

IT'S ALIIIIIIIIIIVE!!!

I was talking with Atma the other night about my RP and remembered what I'd said in ShinraCorp a couple of weeks ago... I told Merlin that I'd revive my RP once I got some sort of flow with all of the new adjustments in my schedule. Guess what? I'm slipping into that flow right about now. As such, I'm officially reviving my RP.

I'm hoping that everyone will continue to take part in it, but I'll understand if you have to drop out permanently for some reason or another. If you must leave, please post saying so, and we'll find a way to phase out your character if you don't do it yourself. And yes, it'll be something more exciting than death... that's too overused.

Of course, if you're not leaving, it'd be just as great if you posted here, as well as in the RP itself. I'm hoping that my latest post will help move the story forward. I know that everyone was waiting on me to post when I ended up going MIA to begin with, and for that, I apologize. This time around, I have every intention of keeping the RP up and running.

...even if my newest post is open-ended and rather short.

Note to Trev:
The end of my post leaves you picking up the next portion of the conversation. If you'll look back through the OOC thread, you'll notice that in this post, Jay gave the Narytians an extra sense. You're more than welcome to answer the question as the Colonel, or to have him let Kat explain it. If you'll remember, she's one for both of us to use.

The "difference" which Kat was referring to in an earlier post that Jackson is now questioning would be the ability of the Narytian males to manipulate their pheramones. While Kat is aware that Jackson is from another planet, she doesn't quite know why he doesn't exude the same hormones. Aside from the exoskeletons which I listed for the Narytians in a later post in this OOC, they're otherwise human. She has noticed this, and was initially curious as to why Jackson, who is so similar, is so different at the same time.

...hmm, that was a mouthful. Too wordy, methinks. Oh well, I got the point across. I hope.

edit:
By the by, when I said "pretty little kitty" in my post, just jot that one down as a piece of Jackson's dialect -- as we all know, Kat doesn't look anything like an actual cat. That'd be way too cliché, and rather lame.

...damn. I deleted the PM when I cleaned out my boxes.

Anyway, the situation regarding Trev and his character, especially considering he's taking an eight month hiatus from the internet as a whole, is pretty much like this -- he said I could assume control of his character until he returns. He MAY make a post here and there over the next eight months, and he may not. Whenever he makes his official return, however, I will gladly hand his character right over to him once again.

Just thought I'd let you guys know in case you start wondering why I've got three characters instead of one and a half.

I hope this will do for now.

Name: Kruulshk
Home Planet: (space-faring transient)
Species: Devourer
Hair: (none)
Eyes: (none)
Build: dense barrel-like body, four spindly arms with three fingers each, two reverse kneed legs that end in sharp talons, tubular head with a long extending crest. Seven foot long prehensile tail.
Defining Features: The outermost part of his (male pronoun used for convenience) exoskeletal structure can vary from smooth planes to steep ridges and horns. Kruulshk has no lips, so his many teeth are exposed for all to see. This, paired off with his lack of eyes make other beings rather uncomfortable to be around him, although being a Devourer alone would probably make them uncomfortable enough.

Devourer info: Devourers are a reviled "race" of beings that are able to evolve or guide the growth of their bodies by ingesting the genetic material of other beings. Devourers are capable of asexual reproduction, however are also capable of breeding with others of their own kind or infecting hosts with their genetic material. After a Devourer's genetic material has infiltrated a host it will spread like a cancer, overwriting the genetic material of its host's DNA with that of its own. This method of viral reproduction make Devourers hated throughout many star systems. Devourers naturally do not have lips or any form of verbal communication, however with their highly developed brains they are able to communicate telepathically, thus negating the need for language. Devourers grown from an infected host retains much of that host's memory. Devourers may also assimilate knowledge by eating other beings (in part or in whole). While it is possible for Devourers to extract memories through their psionic abilities, this usually results in irreparable damage to the lifeform being scanned. A fact that makes simply devouring lifeforms seem a bit more humane.

Woah.. just had a RPJ flashback.. O.o Nice to see you here. ^_^

Now that I was totally off-topic and all, on to business... I'm still here and kicking... which Ceaser already knows.

Oh and Sneaky, your character sounds like it will be an 'evil' character from the description. Its definately going to be interesting to see how you pull off the whole mute thing, since your character doesn't seem to be the sociable type.

Heh, tell me about it Merlin. I was quite surprised to see him back, and that's why I leapt at the opportunity to invite him. Since we're losing Trev for the next eight-ish months, and we haven't heard from Crystal in a couple of months as well... yeah.

I know you wanted to revive this as much as I did. I thought a couple new participants would help with that. Now, let's see where the story will take us...

My next post will continue the conversation I'd had in mind for Trev's character, Colonel Gziera. I suppose that places me as the only writer aboard the KSS Blue Templar, so I'll be sure to steer the ship toward the rest of you.

We need to figure out how the Colonel is tied to the characters on Kosenagi, aside from his military roots. My next post will be a long one -- throughout the course of the conversation, I'll be sure the ship is en route to the planet. The landing will be either in one of your posts, or in the post after my next one.

Any ideas on how we should meld?

This may seem a bit cliché to a number of you (Merlin especially), but what if my character was the ship's physician (but only for a short time)? I've been wrapping my mind around how to establish my character in the story as soon as possible and I thought perhaps after the Colonel and Jackson converse the Colonel will send Jackson off for a quick physical to check for any adverse effects to stasis.

Just a thought. I think I prefer that to the spacedock tavern idea that I was considering before that.

I like it.

That way, we can go to Kosenagi together. You're even welcome to include that in your post. Knowing this, I'll be sure to start piecing together my next post so that you'll be able to move us forward soon.

Now, I have to ask... what about the rest of the squad?

Last I checked, Merlin's character is in care at our base because she was in a nasty fight against Relepti and we're treating her for poisoning. I think she's currently asleep in the bed and I'm watching over her.

Right, right, but I was moreso asking where you intended to steer your portions of the story from here -- and more importantly, how many posts we should anticipate prior to the first big character mashup. It wouldn't be much of an RP if we didn't cross paths at some point, eh?

Just fishing for ideas. ^_^;;

A bit of explanation regarding how/why Kruulshk is the ship's doctor is needed, I think. The Colonel doesn't strike me as the type to have a Devourer as a doctor on a ship under his command unless he has total faith in him (that he won't eat his patients).

Two possibilities there that I can see. Either Kruulshk was the ship's original physician but became infected/devoured by a Devourer or he earned the Colonel's trust through outstanding service.

Then again, the Colonel still may be cynical of the Kruulshk's abilities at this point in time.

I'm thinking the latter is a bit more feasible. After all, if one of my crewmates got infected and started acting all zombie-ish (that's the image I have in my head; not for looks, as you described that well, but as far as the attitude goes)... where was I? Oh yeah, if something infected one of my crewmates and he started transforming, I'd probably want to put him out of his misery -- and keep him from eating the rest of my crew.

So yeah, the latter would be good. I'm thinking something along the lines of the Colonel being mortally wounded on some planet or another, and being treated by a Devourer rather than devoured by one. Perhaps there could be some alterior motive, such as the Colonel inadvertantly saving Kruulshk's life by blowing something up that was going to kill him. That doesn't necessarily have to be it, but writing a flashback that involves an explosion could be fun.

We don't have to dive into the "why" quite yet -- we'll let Jackson ask him at the end of your post, and then we can go into flashback mode from there.

Aww and here I thought he was going to be a sadistic masochist who uses his telepathy to make the crew believe he is a handsome doctor, meanwhile performing evil experiments on the crew, one-by-one in a brilliant attempt to take over the ship from the inside-out. LOL

I'll post my plans tommorrow when I get home.

A perfect reason for the Colonel to be on edge.

Who's to say we won't do something like that after all? Perhaps not during this trip, but the next time we board the KSS Blue Templar. The idea's certainly a good one, and one to remember for later in the story.
