Hell On Earth: RP
The air was cold, frost sat on the cracked asphault. The small search squad sat in a hollow beside a delapodated aged church. Their breath was stole by the darkness and their eyes barely saw through the thick of the fog.
A boy named Azriel stood by Laurie, slightly looking over the mound, he peered around the town square, squinting in the harsh light and conditions of the night. His long blonde hair blew in a breeze that came northwards, bringing a harsh smell of smoke with it. Screams could be heard in the night, the only thing piercing the tranquility of this temporary safety. Laurie herself lay on her back panting, she had ran the whole way, volunteering to scout. However her friend Ras stood, unafraid infront of her, arms folded he looked out into the darkness, his breathing steady, his huge form at the head of the group. A loud clunking was drawing their way, Laurie looked around and whispered, "Draw your weapons, sharpshooters ready at the ridge" 5 men lined up on the ridge, the ones that wielded blades stood behind. Laurie drew her own blade, a long katana with ancient symbols on it, she looked up the blade and knelt up, turning to view the square from Ras' side. Ras stood, a pillar of steel amoungst trembling gunmen, he didnt even draw Kutsonagi, his sword, he just stood looking out, he looked at Laurie and spoke in a deep authorative tone, "Lor, we have to intercept this slave train, there are 15 more to add to our numbers with this." He turned back to look, from within the fog, the clink of the metal was formed into a group of chained humans, battered and bloody walking in single file. 3 fiends guarded the front, a greater winged demon at the back. Ras slowly withdrew his huge 6 foot blade from his back, the metalic sound almost soothed Laurie, it made her feel quite safe knowing he was here. Ras smirked looking at Laurie, "It appears we are outnumbered" He inclined his head to the side. 50 or so Imps came from the fog beside the group. Laurie took some bladers and ran to the side into the swarm to defend the group, Ras told teh sharpshooters to open fire and Ran, sword raised straight towards the Greater winged demon, swinging his sword to teh side he threw the beast through a flower shop wall, it stood and reared its head ready to attack, the rest of the blades engaged in battle with the imps and fiends. Ras stood smirking, Laurie franticly swung her sword at the Imps.

From the roof of a nearby Parisian home a group of demons stood, ever watchful, commenting on the battle.
Among these demons were Baal, Dante and Lucifer, three of the higher ranking demons in the underworld of Hell. "Look at them... scurrying around like rats. Dodging their predators. Always looking for their prize," said Baal, pointing and laughing. "Their pathetic weapons. Makes me wonder why you carry them Lucifer!" Lucifer ignored the comment with a sigh and continued to watch the mortals. It was true that he carried mortal weapons. Two Mp5k's positioned at his waist. He admired the humans. Their courage and bravery to stand up against a force and partake in a battle seemingly impossible to win. Dante and Baal joined him in looking over the edge. It was then that they spotted Valaras. He was in human form, but it was obviously him. The demon stench. The seemingly superhuman strength and skill. "It seems he's intergrated into their society..." Dante said. Baal and Dante stepped back and muttered to themselves. They had come up with a plan. A plan in which one of them would integrate. But who would integrate? Lucifer.... |

A flame lit the small shack of a hiding place. The bulding was hald buried under rubble of some old building. Bek sat at a worn old table and drank some coffee. This little hiding place had been his home for the past few months since he arrived from the refugee ship. He had a gas lamp and used a small camp fire to heat his drink. He also had a worn cot, in which he slept lightly. His sword has leaned against him, he could hear sounds of the demons in the distance. Then, he heard shooting, and it was close by, too. He scurried out of his hideout and sprinted to where he heard shooting.

(OOC: Longer posts next time please Izaak.)
Ras stood looking the Demon up and down, smirking he stabbed Kutsonagi into the floor. The Greater Demon charged, connecting with Ras's arms a light flashed and the demon was thrown into a nearby building, Ras stood several feet away on all fours, he stood, cracked his neck and walked over pulling his sword from the ground. Meanwhile Laurie stood her ground ratehr shakily, imps and humans lay around her, though only a few humans were lost, to the resistance it was a massive shock, they stood, the fiends still standing just ahead, all the Imps ahd scattered screaming back into the night. The sharpshooters all lay on their backs, throats torn, the pit fiends smiled evil and walked over slowly. Laurie sighed, wiping blood from her face she called out, "Form a line." The troops rallied into a line, swinginng their swords awaiting the attack, then they charged, swinging like a wall of razors into the three fiends, cutting one down on impact, the other two threw some humans to the side and the conflict began again, blood, both red and black flew in all directions. Ras walked and picked up the Greeater demon, unseen by the other humans he held the giant winged creature above him, looking onto a nearby rooftop he saw some people slink back into the shadows, he narrowed his eyes, "Dante." He spoke under his breath. He snapped the demons neck and walked back to the slaves to lead them away from the battle and into the safety of the cathedral. He sensed demons on that rooftop, three of the more powerful ones, possible Leutenants like himself, what were his bretherin doing here, now? Laurie called her men back and ran following Ras into the fog.

Jak walked carefully down the backstreet, his twin pistols in his hand - his fingers on the triggers, ready to shoot if he saw even the slightest demon activity. Shoot first, ask questions later was his motto where demons were concerned - especially as most demons survived more than a few bullets.
He looked around at the fellow members of his little scout squadron. There were 12 of them in total. Two fellow Americans, two British, two French, one German, one Japanese, one Cuban, one Iranian and one of the last surviving Australians. Some of them were trained operatives same as him, some of them were just civilians that had learned how to fight. He only knew a few of their names but he knew that all of them were ready to teach these bastard demons that they can't invade without consequences. One of the things that amazed him about the Demons invaded was how former enemies had manged to team up together. He never thought he'd live to see Americans, Cubans and Iranians or the British and Germans fighting alongside each other. They moved cautiously, they were currently in a part of the city that was unsecure and demons could show up at any minute. However they didn't have long to go before they had finished their patrol and were to head back to HQ. Jak had chosen this patrol, he was the commander of the group. He was pretty sure he was one of the best fighters in the resistance, adept with weapons and hand-to-hand combat. He had quickly risen up to unofficial ranks of the resistance and had been allowed to hand pick his own team. He ran his group like a military organisation, after all he had been military man before he joined the CIA and he knew the only way they were going to beat the demons was by tactics. Suddenly he heard a noise from the end of the street. He raised his pistols, ready to fire. One of the walls on the side crumbled and out charged a massive blood-stained tormenter, mad with rage and blood-lust, closely followed by a group of horned demons and two snarling hell hounds. "Ah, Crap!" said the man on his left. "Retreat! Retreat!" Jak cried to his squad. They were vulnerable were they stood now, they had to move. They all turned and started sprinting to the end of the backstreet. Jak turned and emptied some bullets into the hell hounds, which were fast catching up with them. One of them fell, but the other continued to run. Jak thrust his pistols into their hostels and lowered his centre of gravity. He waited till the hell hound drew level with him and jumped at his throat, then he leaped up into the air and span his leg round, the back of his heel hitting into the dogs head, smashing it against the wall. He started running as soon his feet hit the ground, pulling a grenade out of his belt as he went and pulling the pin out with his teeth.

Arbiter walked out of the hole where the tormenter busted through. His group the Horned and Hell Hound demons all chased after the humans. Arbiter stood and watched as Jak took out one of his hell hounds.
"Hm he took out one of those hell hounds all by himself. So humans really can fight.* He sighed and closed his blue eyes shut thinking what kind of trouble this was goanna cause him in the future. "What a drag. Dante told me this place would be easy to take over. Gawd I hate that guy. He thinks he's so cool." Arbiter didn't like to attack first but had the element of surprise on Jak and his squad so he took it. He was ordered by Dante to take over this area with the demons that were given to him. But he had a feeling that is wan't going to be so easy. He always knew there was a catch. Arbiter opened his eyes and brushed his brown spikey hair away from his eyes. He unstrapped the restrain that wrapped around his shoulder that carried his large sword Flash. He held his gaint sword with his right hand over his shoulder and he he began to run with his demon forces who were chasing Jak and his squad. As he ran after them he heard a click noise comming from there leader.

Inside the silent slave train it had now become apparent that something or someone had stopped the train's progress. The noisy clanking of the train against the tracks had been replaced by gunfire and screaming, but since there were no windows one could only guess as to what was truely going on outside.
Niah strained to hear what was going on in the madness behind that metal wall, but muffled snarls and the occational explosion were all she could manage to make out. Her rope restraints were tight around her wrists and ankles, but she tried to wriggle free anyway. The other would-be "slaves" in the metal boxcar with her were all anxiously moving around in the darkness trying to take advantage of the situation. "If we're going to escape, it's either now or never" a gruff voice called out. Niah agreed and decided now was the more prudent option. She struggled with her bindings and tried furiously to break free, but to no advail. She sighed heavily, beads of perspiration running down her face from the heat of the moving bodies next to her, and tried to find a tool to use to pick the lock. It always worked in the movies, so why not give it a shot? Her actions were interrupted by a loud thump on the side of the train. At once silence fell over those inside the boxcar. Another thump came soon after, this one powerful enough to leave a dent in the metal. Niah's breathing became quicker as she prepared for whatever was about to happen. One thing was clear: something on the outside had every intention of breaking in. |

Ras heard screams as he dug his massive arms into the side of the train and pushed it the length to the cathedral, his power seemed immense to the watchers, yet for some unknown reason they had never dreamed of him being what he was, a demon.
His hair blew in the breeze like a beacon in the fog, the could hear people coming up from behind, probably demon reinforcments, Laurie made a quick decision, she pulled Azriel with her and stoppe din the middle of the road, Ras looked back, his eyes a bottomless pit of blackness, he understood, he shouted outloud, "To the left! Move it, c'mon, move it!" Laurie nodded and ran to the left, down a back alley, Ras pushed as hard as he could on the train, yet still trying to silence the scraping sound as much as he could, he got bored and stood back, slamming his massive fist into the metal, once, twice, he tore off the door like a ringpull and inside stood 15 people, nearest to him was a woman bound hands and feet with rope. She looked at him terrified, "Do not fear me, I am Ras, of the Paris resistance, follow us or die on these streets." With that he looked back, the other ran forward using their blades to cut the bonds, it was time to escape, time to run to the cathedral. Meanwhile Laurie ran down the street, as she did she heard the clang and tin tapping armoured forces coming from behind her, but ahead, a more profound and terrifying thunderous running was heard along with gunshots and yelling, Laurie gasped, it was surly Jak's patrol, It had to be, nobody else was allowed within this city quarter. She looked back, Azriel looked in horror down the narrow alley, "T-t-to-tormentor!" He said holding up a shakey index finger in the direction they were headed, his blond short hair glew red, the air became thin and humid, it was close, too close, Laurie grabbed Arziel and dragged him behind two bins, they were trapped, a force behind, a force ahead, she had no choice, "JAK! JAK! ITS LAURIE, HELP US!" Her life rested on teh actions of her fellow captain and his team, god, shed been so stupid, surly Ras was better fitted to this task.

The young man woke abruptly and found his apartment was aflames. He rushed to his feet, and grabbed his large black robe, and scarf. He then strapped his large blade to his back, and drew his guns from under his pillow. He ducked low, and soaked his scarf in water and put it over his face. He looked around for an escape, but only saw red flames dancing all around. He rubbed his eyes and coughed as the smoke quickly filled the room.
"Damn demons! Never a single night can I rest!" He hought as the flames grew and the heat intensified. He saw no other way out than to smash through a wall. He wielded his sword and wound up. He slammed the wall that stood between him and the outside. He continued to smash until he made a large enough hole to climb out of. He stuck the sword into the side of the building and grabbed a half singed curtain. Twisting it, he made a rope and tied it to the hiilt as he began to climd down the side of the apartment building, all while fiends were busy rounding up refugees, and destroying other buildings. He heard several gun shots from resistance members, but he never thought they would be so close. "Now they show up?" He thought as he reached the end of his rope. "Damn!" He was only half way down from the top floor, and he looked up to see the flames spread onto the rope. He found a window where flames had not yet erupted and stood on the ledg, and jerked the curtain, releasing the sword. He cought the blade and leapt back wards as the fire became an enraged inferno, exploding out of the window. Falling he was able to slam his sword into the building once more, slowing his fall. After a series of small explosions he landed hard on the ground and lay there for aseveral moments. He cought his breath and slowly got up, but to his dismay all he saw was destruction and demon scouts. There was a long line of people who were shakled and being led by the demon guards. He had no time to loose, running into a nearby wreck he hid as scouts scanned the area. They wielded fiery spears and one held a dark halberd. He quieted his breathing, ignoring the pauin in his back and legs, hoping they would leave soon. "Go. Theres nothing to see, just go." He though to himself gritting his teeth from the pain. The wrecked building he was hiding in was slowly burning to the ground and the ceiling began to fall. They sniffed the airand looked around, but left soon after shrugging. The man sighed and silently moved out of the collapsing structure and ran the opposite way. "Damn it! That was my last hope! I should have fought!" He dropped to his knees and pounded the ground. Cursing in japanse, he stayed there for several moments before he heard the roar. He remebered that very same shrilling cry. "Him! That devil!" He looked in the air and soaring overhead was a giant demon. It looked like a large red dragon with claws as long as swords, with horns even longer. This particular beast had several scars on its left wing, and one long scar over it's left eye. "You hunted me down from Tokyo, to Madrid, even now in Paris! I will be sure that Hotimishu's blade pierces your heart soon enough!" He watched the foul beast soar in circles, looking for every last living creature. Like a hawk stalking rabbits. The man got up and limped away. "Hopefully I might find just one person left alive. I can't keep running like this!"

Thankful that her life had been saved rather than ended, Niah pulled herself together and helped in freeing the others who were bound in the boxcar. This man who had interviened seemed very calm about the entire situation, and his demeanor helped easy her anxiety.
She turned her attention to the muscle-bound savior of the moment. He had introduced himslef as Ras, and looked fairly young - mid twenties perhaps - but his hair was pure white and quite long. She stared at him a few moments, unsure of exactly what is was that held her attention, then stumbled out of the train. There was little choice of where to run. All around the demonic enemy was closing in, and their only salvation seemded to be the one building not overrun with the vermin: the cathedral. Niah both led and followed the group toward the bulding in the distance dodging bullets and flames along the way. Debris was everywhere and provided a convenient cover from the explosions and madness from all sides. She would have been scared to the point of immobility a few weeks ago; now she simply picked up a pistol from a fallen resistance soldier and ducked behind a raised slab of concrete. Her mind raced with the thought of her brother Lucas. She had started this entire journey to rescue him, and had ended up being tricked by an imp and hauled off to become a slave for the enemy. She would not make the mistake of trusting an imp again, not even if it seemed her life depended on it. Now she was her own informant and would evaluate situations for herself. She would find her brother somehow... but for now she just had to live throught the next few minutes. The cathedral may have been the intended destination, but in the meantime she sat biding her time alongside Ras, waiting for an opening. |

Jak quickly glanced around him. His team had all got to safety. Good. He summed up the distance between him and the tormenter and chucked the grenade. He saw it land perfectly, right in the path of the tormenter and in the thick of the demons. He turned and continued running, he didn't have to watch the blast to know it was going to be enough to fell the bastard beast. It never was.
He ran round the corner and then he heard someone call his name. "JAK! JAK! IT'S LAURIE, HELP US!" He looked for the source of the voice and saw Laurie, a fellow captain, hiding beside some bins with Azriel. "What are you doing? We have to get out of here! There's a bleeding tormentor coming this way!" he cried "We know" Laurie replied, "But there are demons coming the other way too." Jak swore. This was the last thing he needed. He saw his team heading running, halfway down the alley and if Laurie was right, they were running straight in danger. He swore again. "Team, get back! Get back dammit!" He shouted. All of them turned immediately and charged back towards Jak. All except one. Pierre, a frenchman, one of their snipers and not great in close combat. He was a deadly shot, but Jak knew he was prone to panicking when he was in the midst of the action. "PIERRE! GET BACK, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!" Jak cried desperately, but it was no good. A horde of horned demons came swarming round the corner, none of them appeared to have guns, which was good. But he knew they were still vicous and deadly. Pierre looked up in horror, but it was too late for him to return. He pulled out his combat knife and started fighting them off. He was doing well, but Jak knew he would not last long. He turned to the Iranian, a quiet brooding man, no-one knew his real name but he was called "Skinner", after his bald head - he was their heavy weaponary expert. "How many rockets do we have?" he demanded, indicating the rocket launcher slung on Skinner's back. "Three" Skinner grunted. "Use it on the tormenter. Two rockets should finish it off, if not hold it off for as long as possible." he said to the his team. "But Jak.." Laurie protested, he silenced her protests with a wave of his arm. Rockets were of short supply and one of their last resorts for desperate situations. But this was a desperate situation. He turned towards Pierre and pulled his pump-action shotgun from his pack. "Jak, what're you doing?" Laurie asked "I'm going in to get Pierre. Help if you want" With that, he turned and charged down towards Pierre, they were crowded around him, threatening to engulf him. Jak shotgunned the ones on the edges as he ran towards them, then he hurled himself into the fray.

Laurie looked around, getting to her feet she pulled Azriel up with her, he withdrew a long rapier from a scabbard at his side, then gracefully he defended against a sudden slash from a demon claw. Laurie stood beside him, fighting yet being pushed back, until they bumped into the kneeling 'Skinner', he had his launcher up on shoulder ready to strike, Laurie looked up, seeing a half broken ladder she made a jump, onto a bin, kicking off the wall she cought the ladder opposite, pulling herself up she called down, "Hey, hey, up here!" She chanted. She was about to pull up when a dark outline shot across the gap between the buildings of the alley, a leutenant? It was too big to be a demon, too small to be a tormentor, thats for sure. Im her surprise she had let go of the high bar of the ladder and plumeted into the fray, demons on either side she whipped out her sword as quick as she could, swinging frantically all around. She looked over at Jak, his hands were full. She was alone for the first time since this horror had began, struggling to stand and fight at the same time she futilly swung, until, finally she got good | ||||||||
