Lana edged her elbow into Asuka's elbow and slipped under his blade.

"Better watch it... don't underestimate me. I'm full of surprises, you know."

She kept her eye on him. It would probably be a bad idea to hurt a Neutral, so she just gave Asuka a 'Back-off' look, and left him there.

Devlin slashed another mage, then another. The shields were working, and had completely turned the tides. It was now the Mages at a disadvantage. Devlin hastened his onslaught, bringing down mages left, right and centre. In the distance, Devlin spotted the mages leading officer, on the ground. He was not dead, yet.

Devlin ran in his direction, readying his swords, preparing the one last slash that could end this attack. The man, was lying on his stomach, face down. He had lost alot of blood, and was in a criitical condition. Devlin, not one to achieve victory in such a cheap manner, returned his blades to their sheaths, and lifted the man onto his shoulder. "I'll take him as a hostage." thought Devlin to himself.

The bullet lodged itself into Soma's chest. Soma stopped. He brought his hand to his chest and collected the blood that leaked forth. He held his bloody hands to his face and trembled, I-I've been defeated?! No...not so easily!!

He threw his spear towards his attacker. He clenched his bleeding chest and watched as the spear soared towards him. He smirked, Koji, you've sealed my fate. By letting them live, you have me die. My death is by your hands...

He fell to his knees, then face down. Blood leaked from his body and soaked the ground beneath him.

"Soma!" Koji called out as he awoken. He found himself being carried by a black haired character, his hair covering his right eye...quite an awkward position to be in, being a guy.

"What the hell?! H-hey! Drop me!"

Devlin felt his hostage moving, and upon hearing his voice, quickly dropped the man. Devlin, almost instantaneously, drew both his swords. He eyed the man, now recovering from his wounds. "You..." said Devlin, "You're the man leading the attack on this city, are you not?". The two men eyed one another, Devlin, unsure of what this young man could do, readied his weapons for the worse.

"...me. Are you here to kill me?"

Koji took caution not to anger the man. He could not draw his sword quick enough to block any attack he might dish out.

Suddenly, an image of Soma dying flashed into Koji's head.
Is Soma...dead?

"Hmp," Asuka lowered his gun, and put his sword back into his sheath. Asuka standing alone in the dead grounds of soldiers, the echoes of the voices of the fallen flow in the wind, Asuka looks around his surroundings finding no one...He walks off, to find the the low-class warrior, sure of finding the answers he needed...

As he walked off, the red-haired rider threw the spear he held; fighting like a demon. Asuka hears a searing sound coming towards him, he turns his head around finding that the man he easily killed gave one last breath to attempt to kill him. The spear stab to his side, what's this feeling..*ack!*
"Danmit..what the heck!" the feeling of pain, was never familiar to him..and still questions...Asuka grabs the spear, his hands shaking trying to take it out of his body.

The tech army was pushing the Mages back. If it weren't for the techs keen insight, then this attack could of finished the city.

Devlin, unsure of what to do next, stared this man down. He had already slaughtered enough mages, would this man be any different? Yes, something about this man told Devlin he wasn't as cold or merciless as the armies attacking the city. There was innocence in his eyes, and a feeling of disregard for war.

Devlin lowered his weapons, and softened his facial expression, which up until now was quite confronting. Devlin asked the man, "What would you have me do? Kill you, or let you go." The intent on killing this man was now gone, and Devlin spoke once again, "Should I let you live, I only ask that you call off this attack. It is only casualties neither armies need".

Seeing the man relax, he straightened himself and brushed off the dirt on his clothes.

"Heh, this is no longer an attack on your city. It's a slaughter of my troops. You can stop me if you want," Koji drew his blade, "but I have to destroy that mana seal."

More silence. Koji stared into his enemy, another Tech. He despised them so much, and yet, one was willing to spare his life and put an end to the suffering from this battle...

Devlin shook his head. He drew both his swords, once again, and rushed towards the man. With one swift slash, he had knocked the mans sword out of his hands. "Don't be foolish, you've lost far too much blood".

Devlin pointed to the waves of tech soldiers now rising from the military outlets. "You can barely stand" jeered Devlin, "Let alone fight an army, which is what you'll have to do, if you wish to destroy the seal".

Devlin sheathed his swords, and turned his back to the man. "Leave."

He's right. What am I doing?... What can I do?

He grabbed his trembling hand and looked up at the man.

"...I won't give up. I can't leave my army to die here. It's...my fault they're in this situation," Koji walked over and picked up his sword. He was still a bit weak, and his hands trembled with the weight.

"After I destroy the seal, I will bring what's left of my army out of the city. You have my word." Koji walked the other direction into the city.

Devlin shook his head again. "You've got guts" he said, looking to the sky, "...I too was once in this situation". This man wasn't going to back down, so Devlin pointed towards a large building. "The seal" he said, "Is in there".

Devlin, aware of what guarded the building, turned to face the man. "I'll come with you...". The mana sea had been in use for a while now, ever since some unknown techs had requested that it be an asset for the city. Granted, these techs had been involved in some concerning matters with the seal a number of times.

These techs were powerful, and had secretly threatened to crush the tech and city if they opposed. It was a conspiracy within the tech city, that only the important members of society knew about. Devlin, had heard about this not too soon before the Mages attack on the city.

"Look." said Devlin, "If you want this seal destroyed, we're going to have to co-operate". Devlin felt uneasy within himself saying that, but he knew it had to happen. "You cannot do this yourself"

((I really don't know if what I posted makes sense, but it sounds cool, I can edit it out if you think it's ridiculous ^^))

"Thanks. Aheh..." Koji lost balance and nearly fell, but had regained balance on his planted sword. "I guess I could use all the help I can get. *cough*"

He held up the hand he coughed into and saw drops blood on it. He ignored it, picked up his sword, and began towards the building with heavy, strained steps. His breathing was slightly difficult.

Koji stopped for a moment, "My name's Koji. What's yours?"

Devlin sighed. "Devlin", he replied, "Call me Devlin".

A couple of tech soldiers spotted Devlin and Koji, and immediatley ran towards them. "Sir!" they said in unison, "The Mages army is falling back, what should we do?", Devlin coughed, then spoke, "Allow them to leave the city". This answer shocked the soldiers, "But si-", Devlin looked them with a stern face, "Are you disobeying orders, soldier?" asked Devlin, gripping his swords handle.

The soldiers turned, and ran.

"Look." said Devlin, noticing how bad a shape Koji was in, "You're not going to be much help in your current condition". Koji coughed blood, and was starting to look pale.

Asuka breathes heavily, as he's kneed on the ground from the unfamiliar pain. He grabs the spear, gave one last attempt to take it out, as he slowly removes it the more pain he recieves, "Is this what I get for being selfish?" Asuka squints, "You see..how no one helps you...they leave you there like a stray dog..it just seems that you can't trust no one..eh Asuka?" he speaks to himself, he slowly stands up until he manages to take the spear.

Asuka trembling, walks slowly as he holds his wound to stop the bleeding. He stares straight not knowing where he's going. He drops the spear as he goes, walking alone on the empty city, he recieves another vision of his questionable past.

Asuka as an infant, was under strict control by his creator, he punches him and kicks him around ordering him to do what the creator told him to do correctly. Asuka lies there helpless, staring at him like a helpless puppy. "What are you looking at?" he asks.
