The Old War in a New Way RP

A disgruntled blue headed hybrid stuck her head around her door to fix the other up with her ‘I-hate-you-so-f*king-much-and-I-will-kill-you-as-soon-as-I’m-awake-enough-to-do-so’ glare. “What the hell is wrong with you woman!? Wake up call isn’t usually till 5:30, I still have an hour to sleep!” she almost roared, but she managed to control her voice. This was her commanding officer, after all, no matter how bad she smelt the night before.

Grumbling, she scrubbed at her eyes, trying to remove the sleep that was still very much evident in them. She walked over to her duffle bag, grabbed her shorts and slipping them on, grumbling about “Captain-smells-a-lot”. Okay, she didn’t smell bad now, but that didn’t matter. Serafina was angry, damnit, and she needed the name calling to make herself feel better. She combed through her hair and threw it up in it’s usual ponytail, before pulling on her boots and making her way to the door. As she left, she grabbed her sickle and blew out the candle, before making the trek downstairs to the main hall. When she arrived she slid down the wall, drawing her knees to her chest so she could rest her head, and cling to what remained of sleep.

"Amen you guys overslept. Must have been the rain huh?" Annelise announced cheerfully as she turned the corner into the main hall. She held in her hands a large grape, munching cheerfully on her filched breakfast. She'd been up long enough to finish half of the fruit. To compare, it would be much like how long it would take a human to finish half of a large watermelon. Annelise really didn't need a lot of sleep, so she never minded early wake up calls. One of the few things that made the military like her.

Annelise chided herself for being so happy-go-lucky. She did after all, have a lot of proving to do today. Not just to the good captain either, but to the group in general. She really hadn't had a chance to show any of the group, save Serafina, what she could do. Annelise took another bite of her meal, still grinning, but her countenance took on a more determined look.

"Hey Cap'n Tellie!" Annelise said with a cheerfulness that did NOT belong in the wee hours of the morn. "Guess I get to prove I'm not a glow worm today, eh?" she joked merrily. She certainly wasn't the best, but she was confident that her skills surpassed THAT standard at the very least. She flitted directly in front of her captain, her face very serious now, and all the more determined. "And by the way ma'am, sparks don't shoot out my ass. If they start, go ahead and put me out of misery, k?"

She stood watching as Serafina came down, she certainly did look a wee bit disgruntled, as Serafina slid down the wall, she concealed a laugh, obviously the troops weren't used to this...except... There was that bug...what was her name?...Annelise! yes that was it, she seemed unusually perky this morning! She liked the faye, very sweet, looked to be a bit michevious though.

"Hey Cap'n Tellie!" Annelise said, eyeing her smilingly. Cap'n Tellie? That wasn't so bad.... but no, she couldn't have the group calling her Tellie, She began to reprimand her before, "Guess I get to prove I'm not a glow worm today, eh? And by the way ma'am, sparks don't shoot out my ass. If they start, go ahead and put me out of misery, k?"

She didn't even try to suppress laughter. "Will do, Annelise" She leaned back against the wall eyeing the faye with glittering eyes. This was someone she could learn to like! However, she hoped Annelise did worthwhile things. She had seen the ice hand, next they would see other things... She wondered, how much could magic lift?...They'd find out...For now, she leaned back and awaited the others.

[Atma-Noah]

Noah awoke sharply to silence. "It still must be early. There's no commotion." He said getting up and putting on new clothes. All his clothes were the same. Brown sleeveless shirts and pants. After the quick change he took a seat in a meditative fashion on the floor. Slowly Noah began to clear his mind.

The first training day. Soon will come the first battle. Then another and another. How long will it go on for? How many lives will it take to suffice for the kings? What of Wendy? Will I be able to save her? No.....I will save her.

Then it went blank. Time passed quickly and soon a voice boomed throughout the tower.

"C'mon guys! It's 4:30!! we've overslept! and we have a full day ahead of us! Meet downstairs in the main hall pronto!! Make it double pronto!"

With a sigh Noah got up and grabbed his sheath and placed it at his side. Walking towards the door his hand turned the door slowly and in a small voice he said. "If I only saved her."

Walking into the main hall he looked over what troops had beat him there. It wasn't much. He looked up at the captain and nodded. "Good morning Captain." Noah then leaned up against the east wall and waited for the rest of the troops so the training could begin.

Annelise grinned cheekily back at the commander, giving a salute. "Then you will forever have my gratitude." And then she was off. The first day after she slept was usually one of her more energetic jaunts. This morning was no different. The little fae just could not sit (or float, hover, or whatever term you wanted to use) for the life of her. Next she flew low over Serafina's head, ruffling her hair as she passed.

"Hey buddy! Wake up! It's a beautiful day!" Annelise said in a sing-song manner. She then flitted down to the soldier's ear level. Pointing her finger at the said appendage, a stream of water shot from the fae's fingertip directly into her comrade's ear.

And then she was off just as quickly as before. A good thing too. Serafina was probably intensely unhappy now. She weaved through the air, making her way to Noah. "Hey there! Sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you last night. I'm Annelise Triele, smallest member of the Western army. And you are....?" Annelise inquired trailing off, a warm smile on her face. Annelise was if anything, sociable.

As hard as she may try, Serafina could not coax her mind back into sleep, but neither could she shake the sleepy haze that muddled her brain. Stuck in the middle, again she thought to herself, focusing her eyes on her boots. Maybe if she could focus on just one thing at a time…she’d wake up.

“Then you will ever have my gratitude!” she managed to pick out Annelise’s small, yet extremely happy voice. Serafina’s eyebrows drew together and she scowled, glancing up at the way too happy faye. "Hey buddy! Wake up! It's a beautiful day!" she heard Annelise say, and she looked up to flip the smaller the bird. Damn, overly happy, annoying, spastic, Annelise! If she had been just a little more awake, she might have attempted to strangle her. Or squish her, which ever was easier.

That’s when she felt it, a cold, unidentified liquid entering her ear cavity. She squeaked, not a common reaction for Serafina, and her hands immediately flew up to her sensitive ears to cover them. She tilted her head to the side and patted the side of her head, desperately attempting to remove the substance. Who the hell did that!? Her eyes swirled angrily, searching through the group for someone who looked guilty.

That’s when she saw her.

Annelise.

“I’m going to freaking SQUASH you, sparky!” she cried out in rage, stomping towards where the tiny sparkle floated in front of the stranger she had met the night before. She grabbed the Faye in her fist, clenching around her tightly, but not enough to hurt her. Sure she was pissed at her, but she would never actually hurt her! “Water in my ear!? Do you have some kinda death wish!?”

Annelise normally got very antsy at the mention of squashing, but since it was Serafina, she just chuckled. "I don't think I've ever had a death wish," she answered cheerfully, looking up in her friend's brown eyes. "Your ears looked pretty dirty though. Seriously. You probably could have grown some of those yummy little cherry tomatoes in there. Not that I'd want any if it grew out of your ear," she said, still all one big grin. "You oughta thank me for cleaning that one out. Anyway, I'm trying to talk to somebody you goof. He's gonna think you are W-E-I-R-D."

Annelise twisted bit by bit, turning back to said person. She waved happily, then continued wriggling, attempting to escape the confines of Serafina's large hands.

“I’ll have you know that my ears are very clean you….you….y-you glow worm!” she said, struggling to think up a name that get Annelise riled up. “Does it look like I care if he,” she said, gesturing her free hand wildly at the man who’s name she did not yet know. “…thinks I’m 'w-e-i-r-d' or not!?” she finished, making sure not to let the little bug escape.

Serafina stuck her finger in mouth, coating the digit in slick saliva and smirking evilly, eyes sparkling in the amusement that could only be found in revenge. She turned Annelise on her side and hung her finger over the small pointed ear, letting only a little bit of her spit drip into it. Don’t want her to drown, she thought to herself, ruffling the faye’s hair with a dry finger, before letting her go. “Never, EVER do that again, bug,” she laughed, waiting for a reaction.

[Atma-Noah]

Noah shifted his weight from one foot to the other when the faye came up to him. He was about to tell her his name when the girl from last night walked up and grabbed the faye. Noah shook his head. How can they act so childish?! Don't they understand where they're at and what is going on.

"Atma. You can call me Atma. I like it better then he or him. I'm surprised they let a faye into the army. I'm guessing your here to keep the soldiers morale up then fight. It seems to have an adversed effect in the mornings by the looks of things though. I'd advise to keep your childish acts away from the captain's view. This is an army after all."

Atma said interrupting the two. He watched more soldiers enter the main hall.

(OOC: I'm back now, anyone miss me?)

Tsi awoke in the morning, it was still fairly dark...Good...He hated the light, he preferrred the darkness and the shadows. So, it was time to get up, 4:30....he had slept in, he was used to waking up at 3:30...must've been due to the fact that he had been traveling in the rain with people. Traveling with people wasn't his favorite thing, it took more energy then he really wanted to use. He got out of bed and noticed that all of his belongings were there...he must've been out of it, he would've woken at the first sign of someone entering his room. He picked up his weapons and placed them in their proper places on his garments. He opened the door and began to silently walk to where it sounded like everyone was gathering...Why must everyone make so much noise... He walked into the hallway and saw everyone gathered...however, there was one man that he had not seen before, he hadn't traveled with the group to this fort. He wondered who the man was, but it wasn't much of a concern for him, he'd find out one way or another...

"Soldiers!" She roared turning to annelise and serafina. "There is a time and a place for goofing off, but this is definately NOT it! Fall in!" She watched as her troop fell in line. She stepped back and stood in front of them all, her wrist on the small of her back, and the other hand straight down, touching her thigh. "Today..." She said smiling a smile of the purest intentions. "today we are taking a hike. A few miles away, just at the base of the mountain, there is a collection of hot springs." She continued to smile, watching some of the looks of surprise on her groups faces. " The most beautiful, relaxing, luxurious hot springs this side of Meridia! However, we will not be relaxing. It has come to my attention, that my laundry needs doing...that's right, i heard you." She said smiling to Serafina. "Elves have highly acute hearing... And, we all need baths." She said noting a smudge of dirt on Atma's nose. " But, as it is the first day of training, I can't have just a hike. " Amienth opened the door to a set of boulders, all about the same size. "I toted all of these down here last week, just for you all. But, I have no place for them, so of course, i need them taken back. They all weigh approximately 150 pounds. Each of you must get yours to the Hot Springs. But that's not the worst part." She pulled identical looking straws out from behind her back. "One of you, whoever pulls the shortest straw, will be toting my dirty laundry as well." She pulled around the tied up sheet of laundry that smelled vaguely of rotten eggs. "I understand that it's not that heavy...but it is pretty rancid...So " She held out the straws. "Who wants to go first?"

[Kyreaan]

Images were clouding Soji's mind. He was hearing bells and screams and what sounded like weird techno in his ears. Soji knew he must be becoming delirious. Blood was pouring down the right side of his chest and back. He had a deep wound in his shoulder, between the collar bone and the teres muscles. Soji completed his job in taking care of the leadership of the small Beggar's Guild, but not before the woman got her's. Even though Soji used a saber for the job, the woman was quick and knew how to use a knife.

Soji K. hobbled while loosing blood, however, he eventually made it back to Hq. He was panting and started to black out. After sneaking into the medical ward, he finally rested against the wall. It was then one of the nurses noticed him and got him into a room.

Soji rested for a couple of days and was all patched up and ready to go. He signed himself out and retruned to duty.

"You got up just in time Soji K. Cappy was just calling everyone in." a fellow soldier told him while he was walking out. Soji just sighed.

"Soldiers!" the Captain called out. Soji was standing in uniform and in the front while everyone was finishing falling in. The morphine was starting to wear off, but he felt fine enough to pay attention and be active. The Captain explained about the laundry. He would have smiled, but he was standing at attention.

"Who wants to go first?" she finally said.

Soji K. stepped forward and pulled the first straw. It had been a while since he got to see his Captain, so he figured on being the first.

Annelise, as always, had been a goof-off. It was something buried deep in her pysche. She could not live without doing something that was mischievious. She did however, know when was a time to fool about, and when was a time to follow orders. This moment required the latter. Annelise shook her head to clear her ear cavity of any foreign substances before she fell in. She was only mildly annoyed with Serafina. Annelise supposed she did have it coming. But honestly?

Her ears where really dirty. Terrifically so.

Atma? That was his name eh? Annelise's photogenic memory immediately brought back a newspaper clipping, in which Atma was mentioned. He was that Eastern hot shot that had had the West so up in arms. Annelise didn't understand the switch in sides, but she did know he was valuable, no matter how much of a stiff he was. Maybe he could help her a bit with her weapons training on a free day, providing of course, she ever managed to convince him she wasn't some military jester.

Except for the continues flitting of her wings, Annelise didn't move a muscle during the captain's speech. The first thing that had been drilled in her head upon entering the army was that you do not EVER move at attention. She did however, allow herself an inward cringe, secret from the group. The captain's laundry was horrible. But she wasn't too worried about it. She would have to summon another hand to carry it. She could just have it ghost along behind her. As long as she stayed upwind of that mess, she'd be find. She made her way up from the captain's hand. Alighting on her finger, she selected a straw manually and tugged it free, then return to her rank. She'd have to meet the latest of the troop later. For now she was planning how to go about carrying the boulder.
