No Easy Goodbye

[Climhazzard]

Gavin looked at Leon with a dark look on his face. Again his thoughts drifted back to Lily.

"Listen Leon," Gavin said. "The group that killed Lily is after these teenagers. We have to stop them."

Gavin looked around the restaurant and noticed that two of the teenagers he was supposed to follow had left.

"Shit," Gavin swore as started to his feet. He dropped the money for his bill and took off out the door. He jumped on his bike and fired it up. He tore out of the parking lot as fast as he could desperate to follow them. With in moments he had caught up to two cars that pulled into a driveway. Gavin pulled over on the side of the road and got off and watched as four teenagers got out of the cars.

"Good they're all here," he said to himself. Gavin looked behind him to see if anyone was following him. Deep down he hoped Leon would be backing him up soon. He had a really bad feeling something was going to happen soon.

Gary slumped into his chair at Denny's. He didn't really prefer this kind of food if you could really call it that. He ordered a giant breakfast, he was so hungry. After Ginger had asked him to watch the kids, he nodded and played with them whilest he waited for his meal.

BANG !!!

Gary dived over the table and shielded himself infront of the young ones. Gun fire. A robbing had just taken place outside. He brushed himself off and checked the kids, they were safe and sound. Ginger came rushing backwards from speaking with her mother.

"Mom, I've gotta go pick someone up really fast...I'll be back in a few minutes or so." stated Ginger.

"Woah, what's the rush here! You aren't leaving without me are you?" Questioned Gary.

"Sure" She replied.

They both rushed out to Ginger's car. Gary figured his scooter would be safe here, chained to a fence. The two drove silently down the road, Gary still quite uncertain where their destination was. He just expected it to be exciting.

"Man! I didn't even get to eat ma' burger!" Gary complained as he sat in the car, pouting. They pulled up into a drive way and Ginger got out of the car, Gary followed.

"Man, this place better have some deadly grub or I'm splittin', baby!" Gary informed.

Some crazy shit was going down, he was just in it for the food. Typical.

Leon saw Gavin get out of the restaurant and laughed to himself,"well i might as well, go and help him, maybe I'll find more answers from this mistery"

He stood up and got out and spoke "Damn I need to get one of those bikes, walking around the city is not helping, and my ar is at my home, well, whatever"
he started running in the driection Gavin took. Until he reached a driveway where he saw Gavin's bike, and on the other side a pair of cars.
"I'm glad you came" spoke Gavin
Leon got his gun out and Gavin turnedto him and Leon spoke "Maybe it will be needed, maybe not ,who knows, but for now, lets take a look"

They saw some teenagers coming out from the cars. and Leon spoke, "Are those the ones you aree protecting?"
Gavin nodded.
"Well then, we need to be cautious, we don't want to hurt anyone , do we? heh"

"Ah, what a great day. New job new life. And the good thing is, my job is only across the street." Sara said to herself while capturing some weird glances from the people around her because she was talking to herself. She noticed a couple of cars on the driveway and four people about her age.

Two girls and two guys. A dating couple prolly. Their relationships are gonna end in a day or two I bet She thought. She was always cynical about relationships. For her no one can be trusted. Everyone just wants sex and that's it and she's not going to be a part of it.

A bike was parked not far from the teenagers. A man was standing nearby staring intently at the four. The man looked mysterious and undeniably handsome

Oh shush Sara. You're not entitled to thoughts like that she thought to herself, grinning a little bit.

BANG !!!

Suddenly her world stops. Her eyes widened as she turned to where the gunshot came from.

"no, not from our apartment.."

The thought of her brother came into her mind as soon as she heard the loud noise. WHy her brother? She didn't know and she prayed that she was wrong.

She crossed the street not even looking if cars were passing by. Cars screeched and cars bumped at each other. Everyone yelled at her angrily. But that fell on deaf ears, at least to Sara.

She used the old creaking stairs to go to their third floor unit.The building was old and it smelled bad a little. Her heart was pounding it was hard to breathe.She was running as fast as she could as she reached the corridor, tears were welling up in her eyes as she reached their door- left hanging open. It was very quiet..only the creaking of the door could be heard.

She went in and looked for her brother. And her fears were confirmed. To her horror, her young brother was sprawled on the floor, bathing in his own blood. A bullet mark was on his temple. His eyes were opened and his hands were tied behind him. On his chest was a post-it note.

"Noooo!!" she cried wrapping her arms around his lifeless body. She felt her world crumble down on her. She couldnt think, she couldnt breathe. She wished she was dead. She then mustered the strength to pick up the post it note on his chest. On it was written:

"This is for quitting the job and losing the gun."

BANG!!!!
"What the...??!!" Leon turned his head to the area where the gunshot was heard.
"Gavin, you stay here, after all this is your job, I'm gonna check out what the hell happened over there"
Gavin nodded and spoke, "Make it quick"
Leon went running across the street to see a young lady running up some stairs. he followed her and found her inside the apartment on her knees full of tears.
Leon entered the room and saw the dead body. and the lady holding a note.
"what the hell happened in here?"
His gaze went tothe lady and she as she spoke,"My brother, he's.....he's..."
"dead" Leon interrupted, "but I don't undersand what could have lured the asassins here."

Leon took some steps forward to investigate the body, he removed some of th blood in the face and he stood up in horror.
"!!!!!" "This young boy"
Then thinking to himself, "this is the boy that triedto steal my moeny, maybe gavin will be interested in this!"
"Excuse me my lady, how old was he?"
"14..." she exclaimed as she cried.
"Damn" Leon Now took interest in the note, and said to the Lady, "could I have a look at this?" And she passed it over to Leon, "This is for quitting the job and losing the gun."
"This should pass to Gavin's hand"
"I will take this" Leon told her,"And you, come with me, we will need to get some information about this, and you arte the only one that knows what is going on"
Leon grabbed her by he arm and aid her to stand up, she was still crying, and he walked with her downstairs.
He took her where Gavin was,"hey Gavin ,nothing yet"
" I have here something that might interest you, but maybe I'll take it to your office, we can't be hanging around with her here. But can you hndle for yourself the situation here?, I can make it quick to my house ,I could leaveher there until this whole mess is over,so what you say Gavin?"
"I will fill oyu in the details of what happened later"

Ginger laughed at Gary's out-of-place words. It was stupid, but somehow funny. She pulled up beside the house.

"89 Seminole Lane," she said. She thought it was the right house. "Sometimes I don't see how she ends up in places like this...But who am I to talk?"

Teddy was inside at the kitchen counter. She looked confused and tired.

"How did you get here?" Ginger asked.
"I don't know.....there was a party last night, I think....."

The teens entered the house when Leon came back up to Gavin's side. He helped a girl was crying and sobbing. Gavin looked at her sympathetically. She lifted her face to see who Leon was talking to and he gasped in shock. This was another one he was supposed to protect. Her and her brother. Leon told him what happened and the note that was left. He had failed. Gavin was assigned to protect six teenagers and now one of them was dead because he was fixed on the four at the restaurant.

"Stay with her Leon. I'll meet you later," Gavin said. "If something else goes down I have a feeling it's going to be here."

Gavin looked at Sara and smiled sadly. She reminded him of Lily, but he shook that thought out of his head. He had to stay focused. He had failed to protect her brother, but he would not fail to protect her, he swore to himself.

Gavin pulled out his gun and started up the driveway towards the house, expecting the worse.

Leon nodded at Gavin. "Go take care of them, I ll take care of this lady here"

"I can't stay here, it's not safe, I'll take her to my house" After he finished gavin went following the others.

Leon stopped a Taxi and told the driver to drive as fast as he could.
They arrived at leon's house, nothing big really,just another ordinary house.
sara would not talk at all.
They entered, and Leon pointed her the locations of,the bathroom, his room, the small living room, and the kitchen.
"Help yourself, feel yourself at home" Leon spoke kindly.
He then got himself a newspaper ad started reading in the kitchen, as he left sara to do wahtever she wanted, just to assure her, she was not kidnapped he every nowand kept taking alook at her, just to see if she was ok, beause if something happened to her, Gavin would blame him for his failure.

I was on my fourth tangerine when Ginger arrived. I had been too busy sitting at the kitchen counter feeling like shit to wait outside. When Ginger walked in I could tell she was having a hell of a day.
"How did you get here?" Ginger asked, noticing the guitar in the sink and the potted dandelions on the table, obviously weirded out.
"I don't know.....there was a party last night, I think..." I smiled then, holding up a tangerine, "My taste in men I guess!"
Ginger grinned and Gary walked into the kitchen from where he was examining the less-then-normal living room. I was happy to see him, but not happy he had to see me in my moments of shame. "Jesus Gary! How's it going?" He nodded in reply, grabbing a tangerine.
"Why the f*ck is he here?" I demanded, although he was right there. I scrunched up my face, picking up the peels and looking around for a garbage can. "If I'd known I was having company I would have tried to look less..., less..."
"Like crap?" Gary offered.
"Screw you!" I countered, not finding a garbage and dumping the peels in the sink. Ready to leave, I grabbed my coat and hugged Ginger.
"YOU are a life saver. Just like the good old days, huh?" We both thought back a year, cringing. "If you use the term 'good' loosely of course."

A knock on the door made Ginger and I jump. "Shit! I don't know if I'm still supposed to be here...who the hell would it be?" No one moved to get the door...

Sara was still in shock after what happened. She could not believe that her brother was killed. She barely noticed the black haired man who rushed to her aid and took her outside to meet up with what seemed to be his friend- the man with the motorcycle she saw awhile ago. Their conversation hardly sank in to her. Everything happened too fast. She thought her life changed for the better, but only for a second. Now everything she held dear was gone - her parents , her brother.

The next thing she knew, she was at someone's house. The man with long black hair showed her around what Sara assumed to be his place.

"Help yourself, feel yourself at home" he told her as he grabbed the newspaper and read in the kitchen. Sara with her clothes and face still drenched in blood, went to follow the man.

"I want to be with my brother...I want to bury him" she said almost in tears again, her hands still shaking.

"Don't worry, we'll take care of everything. You must rest for now." the man said looking at her while flipping the newspaper to the next page. He reached for the cookie jar just beside him and grabbed a bite. He gestured towards Sara, offering her a cookie. She just shook her head.

"I must go. My brother needs me." she insisted as she walked towards the door.

Someone's gotta pay. she thought.

Gavin knocked on the front door of the house the teens had gone into. When noone answered after a few moments he took a couple of steps back. He feared the worst had happened. He kicked the door in and raised his gun looking for the enemy. He strode through the house gun at the ready. He turned a corner and entered the kitchen, where the four teenagers he had tailed to the house sat there with another young woman.

"Jesus," Gavin said aloud. "Me and Leon are gonna have our work cut out for us," he said under his breath.

Gavin put away his gun and looked at each of the teens in the kitchen. "Look this going to be hard to explain, but each of you need to come with me now. It is a matter of your lives or your deaths."

Gary followed Ginger into her friends house. The place was a mess, some partyin' had been going on here for sure, empties to prove it. He almost seemed glad he hadn't attended.

He walked around through the short hallway and into the kitchen. Ginger's friend was waiting there.

"Jesus Gary! How's it going?" asked Teddy when she noticed Gary.

He nodded in response still taking in the mess from the living room.

A tangerine! Success! Gary had been craving food and this is just what he needed. He munched on the tangerine before even saying a word to Teddy. Delicious.

Knock. Knock.

Gary was startled from the sudden sound coming from the door. Things just kept getting out of hand here. "I better get a good meal out of this..." Gary thought as he rubbed his stomach.

Suddenly a man with a gun burst through the door and straight into the kitchen! "Sweet Jesus!" Gary exclaims. Twice in one day!

"Look this going to be hard to explain, but each of you need to come with me now. It is a matter of your lives or your deaths." The man requested.

Gary gave a concerned look towards Ginger. He cared about her and would look after her the best he could, even if she didn't know he was doing it. Gary stood infront of the two girls and faced the man.

"Explain yourself!" He demanded.

Gavin stared at the young man who got up and stood between him and the two girls. He shook his head and stayed quiet. Gavin took a couple of steps forward waiting to see what the young man would do.

"Look as I said before, everything will be explained to you later. But right now is not the time. What's important is that I get all of you out of here before something happens," Gavin said.

When no one moved, Gavin stood in shock. Afterall, it was kinda hard to make them all believe him. "Ok, I'll give you the long and short of it. Basically a syndicate known only as DARK is after you guys. Don't ask me why, that's something me and my organization are working on at the current moment. I know this is hard to believe but you must trust me."

Gavin knew without a doubt that if something would happen, it would happen here and very soon.

Leon stood up in a rush and reached the door before sara.
"Please understand, there is no safe place outside of here, you are being hunted"
"it's better if you stay here for a while, everything will be taken care of at the right time"
He the stood at the door blocking sara's path.

"I do this ofr your safety, that reminds me I haven't told you my name yet, I'm Leon."
" Me and my partner Gavin are taking care of a group of teenagers, a groupthat includes you and your bother, though your borther is dead ,we will not allow them to get no more of you"

"Now be at peace, get some rest, I will protect you, you are safe here"
