Meanwhile, Hikaru lay in her tent, gently sleeping. Most people that knew her could tell you that she was a heavy sleeper. She slept soundly through many things, and her mother used to tease her about how she was surprised how she wasn't born asleep. Besides, last night had been busy...succesful...but busy.... She thought her and Adina had finally hit a cross of paths, and maybe had even become friends...now where were the malls when you needed them? Pretty, Adina, and Hikaru could do some serious girl shopping...well...if Adina liked shopping... anyways, the point is, Hikaru was asleep. Suddenly, her tent door was thrown open, she sat upright blinking at the sunrise...how had she been stupid enough to face her tent to the east? "C'mon Hikaru! Get dressed!" Hikaru made a face and slumped back down into her pillow. "Just five more minutes...." Adina shook the girl vigorously. "No! Now! It's Pretty, she's left a while back, and she hasn't come back...we think something might have happened to her..." Hikaru sat upright again, this time her eyes were fully functional though. She was dressed in an instant, and she and Adina had started towards the forest. "I'm coming with you!" It was Tarrith's voice. Adina gave him a severe look-down. "What about the troops?" came Adina's retort. "If they made it into SOLDIER, surely they can handle themselves for a short period of time." Adina considered this thought for a moment, and nodded, "Alright then..." (OOC idn't want to leave Tarrith out specially since we don't gots no other troops...should we post something in the OOC boards? we really do need some recruits...just the four of us is getting to be same old same old...) |

The Morning sun began to break through the overhead foliage, creating dancing patterns of light on the dark forest floor. The animals inhabiting the woods were still asleep. Only the dawn chorus... and now the three heroic soldiers could be heard. With every footstep taken, the sounds of the crisp leaves broken underfoot echoed through the forest.
"Which way was she heading when you saw her, Adina?" Tarith asked, all the while looking for a sign. "That way" Adina pointed north west of where they stood. Tarith peered into the distance only to see nothing but the same old woodland. "In which case..." Tarith marched off into the direction Adina had pointed. As the walk progresses, the three found themselve wandering deeper and deeper into the forest. During the search, Tarith felt the need to stop. He heard another voice. He wasn't sure whether it was the voice from last night, or Pretty calling for help. He looked around to see tree after tree. each one the exact same as the next. "What is it?" Hikaru looked to Tarith, eager to find Pretty. "I don't know for sure. It might be Pretty. Sssh, listen." They stopped and listened. A voice could be heard in the distance. They still weren't sure whether it was Pretty or not but they all seemed to agree that they should head towards it. They continued to walk towards it. Everytime it was heard, they increased in speed. Faster and Faster they ran through the thick foliage, chopping through towards the even more audible voice. They arrived in a small clearing in the centre of the forest only to find nothing there. Adina and Hikaru began to shout Pretty's name. Tarith searched the clearing for clues to Pretty's whereabouts. His eyes wandered across the skyline and ended on the ground. His eyes widened as he maved slowly towards a large imprint in the group. "Over here!" Adina and Hikaru turned to see the giant footprint Tarith had found. "Whatever made this print... Isn't human." A High pitched screech caused the group to cover their ears in pain. They looked to the far side of the clearing to see a hulking beast preparing to charge. Tarith drew his gun and placed a yellow and green materia in the hilt. "You caught us on a bad day, buddy" ((OOC: Right, I've put up another invitation for more newcomers to the RP in the sign up. Hopefully we'll get some more people who are actually active)) Last edited by Zero G; 09-07-2004 at 05:12 PM. |

OOC- I decided to write in whatever you guys where hearing while trying to find me. That's ok, right? Ic-She was cold, VERY cold. Groaning, she rolled over and opened one hazy crimson eye and tried to push herself up. She almost succeeded when she felt a warm hand on her back, pushing her roughly back to the ground. “Be still dear heart, the poison that courses through your blood is powerful, and too much movement might be the end of you,” Said the growling voice of her captor. “….Who are you?” She asked, the side of her face pressed against the cold ground beneath her. “And what the hell do you want with me?” “That is none of your concern. Now hush or I’ll be forced to silence you once again,” He snapped back. “….Could I at least sit up?” “I suppose so, If you promise to not to ask anymore questions.” With that, Pretty tried once again to sit up straight. It was a little bit harder than she thought, considering she was bound at her wrist and ankles with hard metal manacles. Finally pulling herself up, she leaned her back against the wall of the cave, and took in her surroundings. They were in a cave. A small cave, with very little light. The entrance was covered by various different leaves, so it appeared to be well hidden. ‘Greeattt….’ She thought to herself. ‘And I left that stupid note too, they probably won’t start looking till nightfall today…’ she sighed, pressing her head to her knees. Her stomach was doing flips, and it fluttered worriedly. What the hell was she doing here? “You’re scared.” It was simple and plain statement. Not a command or a question, just a statement. “Yea, your damn right I am,” she hissed back maliciously, glaring at the cloaked figure. “You still haven’t told me why I’m here!” she exclaimed, crimson eyes dancing angrily. “You agreed to no more questions,” the creature replied smoothly. Pouting Pretty turned her head slightly, staring at the ground. The creature chuckled in amusement as it watched the youth’s child like actions. “I believe I like you girl, what’s your name?” “Pretty Scary.” “Come now, don’t be so childish. What is your real name?” The creature demanded, losing his temper quickly. “…I don’t know my real name, Pretty Scary is the name given to me by the person that found me,” she explained. “I see.” It was awkward, making conversation with your captor. She had never been held hostage before, but from what she had seen, it wasn’t anything like this. Sighing heavily, she leaned her head back against the wall, and listened to the sound of the forest that lay outside the cave’s entrance. ‘…Hurry up guys…Please….’ The creature stilled, glowing red eyes narrowing. It then let out a loud screech that made Pretty whimper, and if she could have covered her ears, she would have. “Well dear heart, it seems your friends are close…” he growled out smugly. Pretty watched him with that dear-in-headlights look. He turned to smirk at her before removing his black cloak. There before her stood something that she had never seen before. He had a human face that looked like it had been eaten through from acid, and half of his mouth was missing. Sharp fangs peeked out from under his lips, and his claws dripped with blue mako. "Wh-What are you?" "Just an experiment dear heart, now I beleive it is time for you to go back to sleep." Before she could protest, her eyes rolled back into her head and she was out like a light. Nodding at his accomplishments, he exited the hidden cave, of in search off her friends. Last edited by HeavensCoin; 09-11-2004 at 09:22 PM. |

Iwan finally arrived to the treeline of the forest. He had been tracking the SOLDIER group for a couple of weeks now. Home base wasn't getting back any word, so the upper chain decided to send Iwan to find out why.
He found three, which were all standing in the forest clearing. Then the screech began. "Ah, yes. Your the one I've been hearing....silly little creature.", he whipsered to himself. As soon as he could clearly see the beast, Iwan slowly raised his right hand to grab the Muramasa, which was strapped to his back over his coat. As the long redish blade lowered, he looked again to the others in the middle of the clearing. Two of them he didn't know, but the one who was setting materia in his gun he did. It was Tarith. They've met only a couple of times during the six year history Iwan has in SOLDIER, but both of them respected each other meerly because of skill. He immediatly sprinted towards the beast, coming from its right side. His blade was kept low and to the side attempting the cut the beast in half with an angled strike. She was busy thinking to herself, no tears this time, this is a happy thought...one for Pretty... this wasn't about her, and she couldn't make it that way. The creature smirked like something was masked behind it's expression. Suddenly, she heard a rustle behind her, and swirled around, pulling two guns from their belts at her hips and aming them at...a man?! What's more, he was outfitted in SOLDIER uniform, and Tarrith obviously knew him! How had he found them? She watched as in one swift movement he pulled his broad-sword out from behind his back, he set it to one side in front of him and then rushed at the monster. The man was extremely agile... but he was crazed if he thought that sword was going tocut through that exoskeleton. This thing was more giant bug than human. The blunt resound of Metal hitting what sounded like a different metal echoed through the forest. The...thing reared back, screeching and Hikaru saw that it was making it's attack for the new man. She aimed several shots at it, each bouncing off to fall lamely at the forest ground. Then she heard it, a bit of tearing flesh, and saw the off yellow blood drip. The creature came down. If only she had gotten a few more bullets in. There wasn't going to be an opportunity like that again, it was now guarding it's underbelly quite well. It looked at her, finding her attacker in the crowd, as the only one with normal bullets, she was termed guilty. The thing rushed at her, "Aim at it's underside!!" she yelled, mainly to Tarrith. The thing had her pinned down, bearing down on her hissing and preparing it's gruesome fangs. She kept lowering her head more and more, until the ground was her opponent. The thing was lowering it's head closer and closer, and suddenly two conveniently placed bullets clipped off the monsters fangs. The thing hissed and fell off of Hikaru, and she ran gratefully to the side with the new man, she gave a thankful grin to Tarrith who gave time to smile back, with somewhat of a blush, and then was already aiming again. She followed suit. (OOC: well, we couldn't just finish it off, it's supposed to be a big baddie....and our new guy *glomps again* was just gonna foosh him in half...well, now everyone has a go with him, oh yea, bow down to Kyreean cause he's all great and mighty!) OOC: Well, I only posted that he merely 'attempted' to slice it in half. What happens after that is a whole other thing.
IC: Iwan looked across the blade of his sword and noticed something off, bug-like even, goo along the edge. He shook it a little as he calmly turned his back towards the lady who ran towards his direction. Iwan cleaned off the long-curved blade and made sure there wasn't any knicks. "Well, that's good", he thought out loud. There was no need to try that again. One, because he'd be stepping into their open firing range, and two, he had already slowed it enough for them to get clean shots. Iwan looked down at the flawless edge as he gripped the red-steel katana in his right hand. He started to turn around, expecting Tarith and the others to eventually mow down the creature. Yet soon after, Iwan started to think about the group. There were supposed to be much more than just three. Were the others camped out someplace? Did their forces get divided? And weren't they calling the name of someone? 'Pretty'? Iwan was taking in consideration of everything. The beast. The small number he'd find by this date. Him being sent alone....but then, they usually do send him alone. 'I need a vacation', he thought. Last edited by Kyreaan; 09-08-2004 at 02:00 AM. |

Adina wiped the yellow blood from her blades. With the beast dead, Adina turned her attention to this new man.
"Who are you?" she asked harshly, breathing heavy. Her entire arm was on fire, like electricity was killing her along all her nerves. Her other hand went unconciously up to her wound. The screeching ealier had not been the same as this monster's. She knew something worse was out there, waiting for them. She could feel it all along her back, her entire body was tense. She could feel it behind those endless trees. She could feel Pretty out there too. Tarith introduced the newcomer, but Adina hardly heard. Her body was buzzing with anticipation. She shot Hikaru and urgent look and she seemed to understand. "Let's walk and talk guys. Pretty's still out here somewhere!" She said, tossing Adina an encouraging smile. Tarith agreed and they plunged back into the forest, Pretty's name echoing off the mountains and shouting back at them, mocking them in their search. |

(OOC: yea, i don't think we actually ever really killed the monster but eh...life goes on lol oh yea, i don't know how to spell aggrrivated....dern...) She walked calmly beside Adina and the newcomer, who was talking in a reporting-manner to Tarrith, who was on his other side. She could feel her breath coming in short, sharp inhales, and it aggrrivated her. There were other things that aggrrivated her too. For one, who was the newcomer, and why did it seem like all of the recruits had just vanished? Where was weirgreif and the others? Who would want to take Pretty? Most importantly, why did she CARE?! She had worked long and hard to keep friendly emotions out of her life...it all hurt in the end...If Pretty was dead somewhere out there...... If they found Pretty...no, she couldn't think like that, when they found her, she could then slow her breath. She found herself wanting to talk to Tarrith...he was an authority figure... but other than that, she couldn't figure out why. She just felt safe when he was around... and he really was a great guy... oh wait...could she like him? For the love of Christ!! Good job Hikaru! You've done it this time, the people around you are droppping like flies, and you've got yourself gushy. What happens when they're gone?.... She couldn't lose Pretty...or Adina, they were all her friends now... and that just means she'll have to fight twice as hard to protect them! |

IC- --+Dream+-- Little elven ears twitched, as the blue haired little girl sat by the fire, a big red bouncy ball clutched to her chest. Crimson eyes swirled angrily as tears sprung from them. “Little one, what’s wrong?” Asked a deep, soothing voice. The little tear stained face looked up to see her new guardian smiling warmly down at her. “I’m confused...Why did you take me away from the orphanage?” She questioned, blinking with child-like innocence. The man squatted down so that he was the same height as the child. “I thought you might like it better here with me...You didn’t look so happy there...” He trailed off, ruffling her hair affectionately. “Where did you get that ball?” “My friend!” The little girl exclaimed, wiping the tears away with the sleeve of her overly-large shirt. “I miss her...” “I’m sorry little one...do you want to be my friend?” He asked, looking her in the eye. The little girl seemed to consider his question for a moment, before nodding and hugging his neck. “Yes sir!” “You needn’t call me sir, I’m your friend now. My name is Tye. What’s your’s?” “Kavia Trewen!” She exclaimed, smiling up at her new guardian. “Alright the Kavia, let’s go get something to eat,” he said, taking the five-year-old’s hand and walking to the near by inn. --+End Dream+-- Huddled in the corner of the cave, a visiablly shaking Pretty lay curled up into a tight ball, her eyes clamped shut and sweat dripping from her brow. Her elven ears were pinned back and her sapphire hair stuck to her forehead. She was mumbling to herself, and the only thing anyone would have been able to pick out was... "My name..." OOC- If you couldn’t already tell, that was Pretty’s fever dream about her past. I kinda thought that maybe you guys would’ve liked to have know her real name! ^.^ |

((Lets get this thang movin'!))
The trees swung from side to side, every one exactly like the next. Adina wondered if they'd ever find Pretty. It seemed hopeless. Suddenly something caught her eye. It was a different shade then the trees, standing completely still ahead of them. "Look." she whispered, pointing at the form. They drew their weapons, approaching slowly. The thing didn't move, but Adina swore she saw a pair of smoldering red eyes within the form. "What is it?" someone asked. No one replied. They crept closer, Tarith and Adina in the lead and the other spreading out to the sides. They would close in on it, whatever it was. A piercing shrieking cut through the forest, hitting the party like a blow. The air shook and the leaves trembled as they regained their composure. The sound had come from the figure before them. It wore a non-descript cloak, covering most of its body, leaving just it's angry red eyes exposed. Adina suppressed a shiver. It was in the shape of a man, but there was nothing human about it. The scream still buzzed in Adina's ears, and there was nothing human about that either. They were a safe distance away then, stopping about fifteen feet from the creature. No one spoke for a long while, but Tarith broke the silence. "Where's Pretty?" His voice demanded. The creature didn't reply, barely moved, just a gentle breathing moving it's large form. Adina stood, raising her daggers, and demanded angrily "He asked you wher-" "You're friend is quite safe." It spoke calmly, it's voice rough but human in every way. He didn't elaborate, and the silence crept back over them. Finally Adina's curiosity got the better of her. "What are you?" She asked gently. She didn't want to compromise their position with the creature. She waited for a reply. |
