| | Tarith stopped. He hissed at Alessan and Adina to attract their attention. The two turned to face Tarith. "Did either of you hear that?" he questioned, a little fear in his voice. Adina shrugged and turned to Alessan who eyed the surrounding darkness. "Can't see anything. Are you sure you just aren't hearing things?" "Maybe." He shook his head "but I could have sworn I heard a growl or something" Tarith turned round. He looked towards the inn where a couple of the new SOLDIERs had decided to have a cigarette. Tarith envyed the new guys, no responsibilities, no worries, nothing. He seemed to wonder off into his own world as he remembered when he was a Shinra Soldier. Suddenly, he heard a scream coming from back at the hotel. He snapped back to reality only to see a blood bath infront of him. "Sh*t. Hey Guys, we may have another problem." He said as he drew his trusty pistol, Hellsing. | ||||||||

| | Sitting on a table as the other three come running in and stop in the middle of the old house. "I knew that'd work." I said giving a slight smirk. Standing up and looking around the house appeared to be abandoned. The window were borded up and the only light in the house was that shining throught the now open door. Holding my staff out infront of me and summing up my aura as the staff begins to glow a slight gold color and lights the room. Just then the sound of a dieing scream echoed throught the town. Sancha imediatly turns to run out the door as i scream "Wait!" He stops dead in his tracks and turns to look at me. "That scream came from the direction where Tarith and the other are, let them handle it and we'll try and get to the roof to check out what we spotted up there." Looking aroudn the room soem more I noticed a set of spiraling stairs in the corner of the room. "Look, when can probably get to the room using those." I said pointing at them and starting to walk over. Maeto was the closest and lead the way up them, followed closely by me, Scary, and then Sancha. Reaching the top there was just a small empty room with a single window overlooking the town. Walking over to it and flipping the latching i pushed it open as the entire window slumps out and falls on the roof. Placing my staff on the ground and leaning on it i said, "Looks like this is our way out...now who want to go first?" | ||||||||

n/a | After Tarith had stopped them he asked if they heard something. Neither him nor Adina had but Alessan scanned his surroundings quickly finding nothing yet. Then he notices Tarith staring back toward the hotel they were at. Alessan noticed that there were more SOLDIER members standing at the entrance having a cigarette. Alessan notices that Tarith is still looking at the hotel but almost lost in thought. Suddenly one of the SOLDIER members falls to his knees and then the the dirt on his chest. The other SOLDIER member turns to see what took the life of his companion only to be killed as well, falling straight to his back. Alessan instinctly gets a good grip on his weapons and begins to run back toward the hotel. Adina quickly follows him and when Tarith gets out of his thought he quickly catches up a takes the leadership role up front. The three head toward the hotel as an innocent body is thrown out the door, bloody and beaten. Tarith quickly jumps to the other side of the doorway and looks in. He signals it looks ok and they all enter. Alessan steps into the hotel behind Tarith to find the blood all over the walls and floors, he is digusted but continues to follow Tarith. Suddenly Tarith hand goes up and Alessan stops, then he hears it, a low growl, an angry one. Tarith signals that the best is in the bar section of the hotel. Alessan nods and goes down a hallway to a secondary entrace to the bar. He whispers into his communicator, "In position." Tarith replys by asking "Any visual?" Alessan looks in and says, "No but I can still hear it." Tarith doesn't reply this time and Alessan now knows to wait for a signal to jumps into the room ready to take down the beast.

61 | Pretty gulped nervously, clutching her staff closely to her chest. "Errrmmm....Guys? That roof looks a little unstable to me...." She spoke, eyeing the roof suspiciously. "Alright, I'm gonna go first. But if it collapses on me, I'm gonna beat the livin' day lights out of everyone here!" She says, carefully sticking staff out the window. After poking the roof for a minute or two, she decided it was stable enough and stepped out onto it. Grinning victoriously, she turned around to give her fellow adventurers a thumbs up. As soon as she did though, she heard the low, rumbling growl. Pretty’s eyes crimson widen slightly, and her jaw dropped. “G-guys?” She stuttered softly, her staff glowing a bright blue as the fear welled up inside her chest. “Would someone tell me what’s behind me? Please?” she muttered, chewing on her bottom lip. She felt hot breath on the back of her neck, and it smelt REALLY bad…. Last edited by HeavensCoin; 07-21-2004 at 10:58 AM. | | Sancha had just ran up the stairs, only to see that something very large and deformed stood behind Pretty, "Pretty! Don't move!" ordered Wiegraf, holding his staff out in warning, "Yeah, It look's like it's ready to make an attack!" comments Mateo, "You guy's better not lemme die!" shouts Pretty, stiff as a board, "Heh, we won't..." replies Sancha, swinging his Lance and letting it rest down his back, much to the likes of Auron from FFX. The creature stepped backwards, it was definitley dangerous, as it had giant sickles growing out of its hand, "Look's like another mutant..." says Wiegraf, still as calm as ever, "Whatever it is, it's a freak of nature, it deserves to die..." says Mateo coldly, raising his gun and reaching for his sword, "I agree..." says Sancha, "Well rookies, what are ya waiting for!" shouts Wiegraf, dashing forward, "Eyaaargh!" shouts Wiegraf, slamming his staff down hard on the creatures shoulder. The creature counterattacks, knocking Wiegraf backwards, "Ha" chuckles Mateo, "That's not how ya do it!", Mateo leaps into the sky, raining fire down on the creature, and landing behind it, only to turn around with a slash, severing the creatures left arm, It groans, and fiercley attacks Mateo. "Whoa, to hell with this!" shouts Sancha, catapulting into the air with the help of his lance, and coming down with incredible force on the creatures shoulder, it groans again, "Aaaargh, help!" shouts Sancha, hanging off of the creatures back, still holding his lance, which is stuck half way in the creatures shoulder. Pretty comes at the beast with full force, whacking it across its ugly face, "Take that ya bastard!" she says, going for another blow, but the creature grabs her staff with its tail, and throws her into the sky, "Son of a bitch!" says Mateo recovering fro mthe creatures counter attack, and stabbing it in the back, "Oh shi*, Pretty!" says Sancha, running along the creatures back, and jumping offa its head, only to catch Pretty before she goes splat on the hard rooftop. "Thankyo-", before Pretty can finish her sentence, Wiegraf runs infront of Sancha and her, and pushes them out of the way, as the creatures giant sickle flies down, Wiegraf takes a defensive stance with his staff, and catches the creature off guard by blocking it's attack. Wiegraf and the creature struggle, "Heh!" chuckles Wiegraf, "If we...are...to match strength to strength...then I...cannnot...lose!", Wiegraf grabs the creatures sickle with one hand, and throws his staff along its underarm, the staff strikes the creature hard under its arm, disabling it. Sancha, who has released Pretty, after saving her jumped back onto the creatures back, retrieved his lance, and has begun repeatedly stabbing it in the back, "Bastard...why won't...you die!" shouts Sancha, "Gyaaargh!" screams Pretty, unleashing a powerful combo on the fiends face, pummeling it continuously with her staff, while Wiegraf also combo's the creatures face."This...ends...now!" shouts Mateo, taking a run up, and holding his sword out, ((just like Rurouni Kenshin)), and cutting the creature in half. n/a | ((Lol my bad, i clicked on post reply then didn't write anything for a lil while, so i didn't see your post. btw i didnt have my sword on me, oh well lol, lets work around it ))Mateo is standing over the severed body of the creature which is bleeding prefusely, he wipes his sword clean of the scarlet blood and rests it across his shoulder. "Damn, it just wouldn't stay down!" Exclaimed Mateo. "Nice," said Sancha grasping his spear which still layed embedded in the creatures flesh. "Not bad," said Wiergrief. "For a bunch of rookies." "Hey I'm a second class soldier!" said Mateo angrily. "Meh," grunted Wierfrief carelessly. "Well maybe we should go." Said Pretty still in a little bit of shock. Mateo looked at her quickly studying her, she didn't look like much, but when push came to shove she did extremely well, a good fighter to have on their side. Sancha had already began climbing back down and walking downstairs as the others followed quickly. The reached the bottom quickly and began walking back towards the hotel perhaps wanting to check out what that scream they heard earlier was about.

61 | Pretty’s crimson eyes still danced with worry as she glanced at the rest of them. Had that really just happened? She had barely know these men for a few hours, and they where already saving her ass? That was weird. What happened to ‘Take care of yourself?’ It was all very different for her. She’d never actually had people to help her out and stuff, y’know? People to actually watch her back and make sure she didn’t fall on her butt. It was a pretty nice feeling, actually. She had felt needed for the first time in awhile. “Hey...guys?” she called, grabbing their attention. “U-um...” she stuttered, rubbing her upper arm. “Well...I wanted to say....Damn I’m no good at this stuff!” She scoffed, stomping her foot. “Well..what I meant to say is...errrr....Thanks a lot guys,” she finally said, flashing them an honest smile. | | Turning my eyes from Pretty and focusing on the glim light of the hotel now coming into veiw throught the foggy night. Thinking back the the struggle that jsut took place on the roof, and something still seemed odd. That monster was far too strong to be wondering around such a peaceful town. "Hey, have any of you ever seen a creature like that before?" I spoke up in curiosity. "I never have," Pretty softly said, 'But I hope we never see any more like it again!" I could tell by her voice she was still a bit startaled by the encounter, all of them were and should be, but i hope shes right and we never see a monster like that for awhile. The hotel was finally infront of us but the sceen was nothing like we left it. Two Shinra guards lay on the ground in bloody heaps, and Tarith and the others stood over a monster exactly like the one we had slain earlier. Walking over to the creature I nudged it with my staff and muttered, "Hmm, looks like our playmate had friends." Tarith imediatly looked at me with a raised eyebrow. Mateo stepped forward and began explaining the events that just recently took place. The seven of us stood there for the next ten minutes or so as each side explained how everythign happened. "But, where did these creatures come from!?" Alessan shouted in a confused voice, "I thought monsters this strong didn't wander this close to such a small town. And ontop of that, where'd these monsters come from that none of us have ever even heard of?" Leaning with my back against the hotel and staring up into the moon that was now slightly shinning through the fog, I thought more of what I was told before I set off to join up with this squad. "I could know where these monsters came from...." No sooner had those words left my mouth then every other person standing there had their full attention locked on me. "Well?" Sancha spoke out in anticipation. "This morning when I was instructed to join up with you, I was giving a bit of information with it. You see the missing person that we sere set out to find is a highly ranking Shinra scientist. You see some of the guys high up got a crazy idea that we could tame and control wild monsters and use them as weapons. Well a large mako plant was built in the mountains near by here. They were going to infuse wild creatures with mako, and they thought it would make nearly unbeatable monsters under complete control of Shinra. Well recently all communications were lost with the plant and the staff went missing. They sent use to investigate and maybe see if we could find any signs of what went wrong..." Countinuing scanning the sky for the moon but it was now covered by the grey fog throughout the town. Looking down at the rest of the group i could see a strange and odd look in everyone's eyes. "That's all I know, use it how you will." ((OOC: Sorry guys but i'm gunna be outta town for a week and prolly won't be able to post here, so just move my guy on with the story and i'll post when i get back.))

((OOC: ok, ppls I’m soooo sorry I’m late, but I crashed my comp and so…um here I am!! I’m gonna try to make my entrance plausible k? you ppl might have to add a few things to the rp though but just remember, I love you!! Heh heh, oh yeah, and like pretty, i'm not used to talking for others, so ^.^')) IC: Hikaru continued rubbing her eyes in utter amazement. She’d only been in Soldier for a little while, she hadn’t expected to come up against such strong monsters so soon…and what kind were they anyways? She rolled over on her bed, wincing as her left arm took the weight of her body. Upon entering the small town of Kalm, they had encountered a large monster already. To her honest amusement, she had felt that rush of excitement and adrenaline she usually did, but after firing one shot at her from one of her pistols, it had reared on her using it’s tail to smash her to the dirt. One of the leaders had ordered someone to remove her from the field, her arm bleeding profusedly, much to the regret of her, and she made her resentment quite clear as she was briskly rushed off the field and into the hotel. She pursed her lips angrily at herself. If she wanted to be a top Soldier, then she had better stop letting others get all the attention by fighting battles for her!! That had not entirely been what had made her angry however…it had been when that loud sound had shook the hotel, she had picked up her pistols, and ran downstairs. No one had noticed her…except for Tarith… he had taken one look at her injuries and ordered her back to her quarters. She had been amusing herself all night with thoughts of what might of happened in the fight. She had met a few members of her group, Tarith, of course, was the leader of the group. She loved his random adventurous attitude. How he could change from the leader of the group, to a fun guy. She had also caught sight of a several superiors… Adina…now that was someone she had better keep her distance from…her carefree nature would probably anger that woman. She had also studied the man named Sancha… he was boyishly good looking…if just as much a rookie as she… she might have to get to know him… She quit her thinking quickly as she heard the sacrificial scream of several men. ANOTHER MONSTER?! She thought to herself rolling off the bed and grabbing her pistols. She didn’t care what Tarith had said earlier, even if she did have to face the consequences later. Besides her arm wasn’t that bad anymore… it had been attended to, she pinched the wound tenderly suppressing a wince, trying to convince herself she was in the right. As she raced down the stairs, she was stopped by a crowd of the other members of her group. After what seemed like an eternity, she watched as her group leader waltzed in, slightly dirty, but just as dignified as ever. It brought a smile to her soft lips to see such a proud leader. He was followed quickly by several men she hadn’t yet men, and a quite curious looking female. She watched with unsuppressed interest as every member of the group reared on one man, looking on him with enthusiasm and question. She moved herself closer to them listening closely and catching every syllable that escaped his lips. So that was it… that explains all those monsters that had been appearing in Kalm…she had wondered why such a small town had been attracting such unwelcomed guests. They started walking off, and she joined the group at the back, making sure they didn’t get anywhere without her. She had joined Soldier, and by God, she would be part of it, or she would die closing in around it. Last edited by Skai; 07-24-2004 at 12:55 PM. Reason: Removal of signature.

| | That day, after Wiegraf had told the group of Shinra's doings, Sancha felt terrible. He was ashamed to be in such an organisation, he was depressed, what made things even moreso worse, was the fact that Sancha's best friend, Kelsen had been killed in the masacre that had taken place in the inn. Sancha laid in his bed for hours, til the day turned into night, Sancha got up, he removes his soldier mask, and ran his hands through his hair, "I...I've got to get some air..." he thought, jumping tohis feet, and leaving his room. Sancha left the hotel, and made his way to the Kalm Pub. He sat at a stool, ordered a beer, and started to drink. After a few drinks, he was feeling a bit off color, "Is this whatI'm to do with my life?" he thought, fighting monsters, watching comrades die...and drink myself to sleep?", suddenly Sancha got up and threw his mug at the wall, shattering it, the barkeeper jumped back, "I won't!" yelled Sancha, running outside, "Hey you gotta pay for that!" shouts the barkeep. Sancha collapses at the town gate, in tears, "I...won't..." he repeats, but then he thinks of the great friends he's managed to make, he see's Mateo, with his gun and sword, slaying the creature, and Wiegraf, looking wiser then anyone he'd ever met, and then he visualises Pretty, the cute, angry tomboy, "Ah" he sighs, getting to his feet, "I...will". | | Midnight rolled on. Tarith sighed as he stared at the ceiling. His thoughts wondered towards the fight earlier and the information Weigraf had told the group. He started to question why he ever joined such an evil company. However, being the slightly insane man he was, his thoughts were always interupted by cheesy J pop music for some reason. He sat up and looked around at the rest of the group who were sound asleep. He crept out of the room and went downstairs to the bar. As he walked to the bar, The barkeeper mumbled something about 'them darn soldiers and their moods'. Tarith sat on a nearby stool and lifted his hand to attract the barkeeps attention. The Guy behind the counter walked up and asked for Tarith's order. "Meh, I'm not bothered. Something with alcohol and lots of it." He looked over to the wall and saw a smashed glass. "what happened?" Tarith asked. The Barkeeper glared at Tarith. "One of your Soldiers was down here and went crazy." "Ummm, I suppose you want me to pay for it. Here." Tarith pulled out a large quantity of gil and slid it down to the barkeep. He openned it to find over 10000 gil in there, making him splutter on his overgrown mustache. "I'm sure that will be enough for his drinks, the glass and my drinks" Tarith said with a grin on his face. The Barkeep, still in shock, poured a drink and slid it down to Tarith. "Thanks." Tarith said as he took a gulp. His face scrunched up. The barkeep could have atleast chosen something with a better taste. | ||||||||

n/a | I sat quietly at the back of the bar in the shadows, stirring my drink with a finger. Not being able to sleep much usually I didn't even bother. Not tonight. I got to thinking about what Weirgrief had said and had to admit I was glad to know what the hell we were doing there. A bunch of deranged scientists and mako infused monsters somehow seemed better then a deserted town, orders to find a couple people, and no leads whatsoever. The piano had aquired a player and a few slippery notes glided through the smoky air serving as the intro to a song I recognized but couldn't place. The woman had on a black dress that caught the candlelight like diamonds and long, delicate hands. She played a few songs, showing off a bit. The fact she knew she was good made her play worse, a shame really, because she was good. The woman finished to scattered applause and went to meet a tall man in a tuxedo in the lobby. He looked out of place in such a town but I didn't bother myself over it. The room was dark, the lights dimmed and the candles slowly burning out. A few people were still dancing on the dance floor, pressed close and swaying on their bare feet, oblivious to anything or anyone else. You could tell they were completely smitten with eachother. Must be nice, I thought, disgusted by the sight. How anyone could ever convince themselves that they were in love was beyond me. I'd had my share of love, or lust, or whatever you might call it. It always came down to one thing: how much you were in the mood to be hurt. I'd had enough ships sail in and sail back out again. They all just end up sinking. It never lasted, so why bother? A man entered the bar and slid some money to the barkeep. Must have been a lot because he took on this anxious way of pouring drinks for the man like he thought he was doing everything too slow. I couldn't see the first man too well but finally I placed his face although it took me a few moments because he was in casual clothes. It was Tarith. I couldn't help but notice how he had still commanded respect and some form of admiration from somewhere within me although he wasn't in uniform and I hadn't even known if he was a part of SOLDIER or not at first. I considered going over to say hello but I'd positioned myself where the stage lights didn't reach me and the candle on the wall had burned down to nothing. I had meant to be alone and seeking someone out really wasn't my nature. I ordered another drink taking tiny sips until the cold amber liquid had warmed my entire body, and then another, downing it this time in one gulp. I thought about ordering another drink, then decided against it. I got to wondering where the pianist and the man in the tuxedo were by now. It was too late to be at dinner, almost morning in fact. I wondered if they were married yet, or engaged and she was wearing his sparkling ring on her musician's fingers, or maybe he was just another boyfriend in an endless chain. There to buy her pretty things and take her home at night and soon to be exchanged for another; one with a better car or nicer clothes. She struck me as that sort of person, just from hearing her play piano, but then again it wasn't my place to judge. It was my place to...my place to..? I thought about it for a moment, then decided it was my place to order another drink. Last edited by Adonai; 07-28-2004 at 09:27 PM.
