Academia - Tournament Information

This tournament is approved by LocoColt04.

Only characters listed in the Character Statistics thread are permitted entry.

One character per user only.

Maximum number of entrants is 8.

If fewer contestants than 8 register by the time I log in on Thursday, October 19th, then I will round down to the nearest even number (6 or 4, there will be no tournament with only two contestants) of contestants and proceed.

The tournament will begin on Saturday, October 21st.

Between those two dates and in between rounds characters may RP together in a thread to be created in Role-Playing to serve as a "lobby."



Basics

Contestants will be placed in different scenarios together or divided into squads. Contestants must then defeat the monsters spawned for the scenario and will be awarded Battle Points (BPs) based on successfully damaging monsters and more BPs for delivering the finishing blow.

The winner of the tournament will be decided by the contestant with the most BPs gained.



Rules

Characters that do not meet point quotas may not proceed to the next round.

Your character may not kill a fellow contestant, but he or she may interfere through non-lethal means.

Characters that die during a round leave that round and keep the points they have earned for that round. If a character has acquired enough BPs to advance when the round is over, he or she may.

A tally will be kept, marking the performance of each character as the tournament advances from round to round.

All other RPB basic rules are in effect for this tournament.



Additional Information

The number of rounds has not yet been decided. It will be announced prior to the start of the tournament.

The distribution of monsters and monster types will not be posted until they are released at the beginning of a round. Some monsters may return in small or large number in future rounds.

The settings of each round will be explained OOC and IC. OOC may provide additional references, such as precise arena specifications and diagrams.

Some limitations may be placed on rounds (for example, a posting cap for a round thread, ending the round when the cap has been met regardless if not all of the monsters have been destroyed) and will not be announced until the round begins.

If you intend on registering for this tournament, reply to this thread with the name of the character you wish to use. I will reply immediately stating approval or disproval of your proposed entry.

Slots will be considered on a first-come, first serve basis. If there are more entries than eight, the others will be put on a waiting list in the event a registered contestant chooses to drop before the final date or before the first round begins.

A cloaked man whispers as he walks up to the Tournament's receptionist (OOC: I don't know if there is a receptionist, I'm just assuming as such, if you could point me in the right direction regarding this, sneakyonfoota, that would be greatly appreciated).

At that he turned and left, saying no more. A brief encounter, but what needed to be said was said, and the man continued on his way.

A tournament? Well i'm in. i'll be using my second character and his profile is on page 32 to like Dante fatima. Just what i wnat to know is how are these points going to be handed out? is it the way you kill a monster?

Here is the breakdown of BPs awards:

Nick* - 10 BPs
Cut** - 20 BPs
Wound*** - 30 BPs
Assisted Kill - 50 BPs
Killing Blow - 100 BPs

Monsters that die from their wounds will not award any Killing Blow points to the contestant that struck it last.

I will be starting the lobby thread in Role-Playing later today.

* Superficial damage that actually doesn't inflict any real damage on the monster.
** Deep, superficial damage. Enough cuts to a monster will see its eventual demise. Nonlethal stabs also count as Cuts.
*** A debilatory move such as slicing off a vital part of a monster counts as a wound. For example, hacking off a leg. Cutting off a monster's horn, however, will be counted as a Cut, as it lowers a monster's ability to inflict blows, but does not affect their health in any way.

Dark and white magic must be defined as there is no indication given of level of skill.

A greater level of detail is requested with regards to your character's physical description. I can only envision a vague idea of what he looks like and for all I know he is nude save for his robe and gauntlets.

A certain degree of history is also requested, giving some idea of Shino's personality.

At the moment your entry is considered "pending" and will not be added to the roster until the stated issues are dealt with.

If five more entries provide complete profiles before Shino's is considered complete, Shino will be enqueued on the waiting list.



General notice

For those characters who have any throwing or otherwise projectile weapons: an inventory will now be required.

Please reply with the number of retrievable and non-retrievable ranged weapons and ammunition (bolts, arrows, shuriken, bullets, shells, quoits, boomerangs, et cetera).

This is now a requirement. Future entries are to include this upon registering or will be considered "pending."

I suppose my ball and chain could be considered a 'throwing or projectile' weapon. My character can throw it and pull it back to him via the chain its attatched to.

I would still consider that a melee weapon since it never physically leaves your hand.

Well i use shuriken like it says on my profile. It total i have 5 belts of these on my characters chest. Each belts has ten shuriken each so in total he has 50 shuriken and they can be retreived unless they are destroyed by something.

A tournament ? Wow , I would like to join this.Since,this is my first RPB , maybe I can finally test my character into a tournament ...It's been there for a loong time.So , count me in. My character shall be Laharl in the Battle Statistic on page 34.

For the Secondary weapon,it is only created to support casting fire elemental magics and not for melee purpose.If you do not approve of this,I shall change it afterwards.
