Slipknot Great or Waste

I see people that love slipknot and more often people that hate them and sometimes people who havent heard of them so what do you think????

Personally i like them they have a lot of good songs but all their good music comes of Slipknot: Slipknot with Spit it Out and Wait and Bleed

Im not a fan of metal at all(I listen to the occasional Metallica and KoRn here and there) but I do actually enjoy a few Slipknot songs.."Wait & Bleed", "Plague" and "Spit It Out" although I do think the masks they were are a bit well, lame. There an OK band I guess but nothing special.

I like them. I wouldn't say they're even close to being my favorite band (I tend to prefer the more technical stuff), but the sheer chaos of most of their music makes it good driving music (like Dillinger Escape Plan, but DEP is far more talented).

I agree with Musashiden.

Although I'm not a massive fan, a few of their songs are okay, and good for an adreniline kick. Other than that, they suck. Their image sucks, too. **** what they say, it's not all about the music. They want the whole ****ing image.

That's pretty gay in my opinion.

I get a kick out of other bands like Anaal Nathrakh and Cannibal Corpse as well. I never said I loved Slipknot. I claimed they had a few good songs and that the rest of their music -- and their image -- is pretty much shitty.

lol wow when i checked this this morning i wasnt expecting any replies oh well anyway i see you guys are prooving my point of people liking them and others not liking them and you've also tempted me to listen to some of these bands ive never heard of

I can't stand them. They sound horrible. It reminds me of a cat with a bad case of larengitis. Also, those masks are pretty ugly. Perhaps less so than what's behind them? I don't know and it's probably best that way. So, yes, boo.

On topic: Their first album was listenable, but other than than, it's not my forte. Definately not metal enough for my taste.

Nu-Metal is not metal.

Slipknot is teen angst hip hop, I laugh at kiddys who think it is death metal. I have heard 1 song, it was incredibly stupid and made me want to puke.

Listen to Morgoth, Demilich, Evil Incarnate and/or Infernal Bleeding for good Death Metal.

EDIT: Actually I forgot to mention Hate Eternal, Br00tal stuff.

Why does everyday assume their hip hop just because they have a DJ? Seriously. In Iowa there was almost no rap influence at all and in the last album there wasn't anything even close to rap then. Sure, their first album maybe had a rap-like sound at times, but they really aren't even close to being rap-metal or whatever. I kind of get annoyed when people diss them only after hearing a few songs and are put off by their image. I'll agree they aren't the greatest band in the world, but I still do enjoy them. But this kind of shit is just plain ignorant when people run up to people go into some thread (or even in a real life situation) and without much of any experience in listening to the band call it trash and then "this isn't real, it's propaganda shitty rap, lol, listen to these REAL bands". (No pun intended to the people who do this). Though still, it gets annoying. I'm quite tired these days of people dissing shit without much of an opinion because of one or two songs and an image. I wouldn't care about the issue if people gave mature statements that I could respect (as well as other people). Plus those people aren't contributing to the thread and sort of spamming it with a blatant forceful belief.

Slipknot has some talent. Corey's vocals and Joey's drums probably are the only thing making it any good, but some music doesn't have to be perfectly talented to be liked. Music isn't about who's the best musician or who can do what.

I gotta say, their newest effort REALLY shows that they all have talent. They're almost going the way of Opeth, incorporating the soft and melodic into the heavy stuff.... though Opeth could easily eat Slipknot alive like chickens... delicious chickens.

I used to like slipknot back in the day but I not really in to them now. I like their old stuff but not their new stuff. I love t he song wailt and bleed. Its a really cool song but it get on my head a lot. But I do love Joey cuse he is as tall as I am and he is short.lol.

slipknot not really a big fan but like sone of their songs like wait and bleed is a great song and another one that i think is called my plague. but the one i like the most is vermillions but more on the second one since it is more soft than any of the songs i had heard from them.
