I forgot about how amazing this band is. I put Mellon Collie on while I was driving, and it blew me away. Seriously, this is probably the best band from the 1990s. They could do dream pop, and rock as hard as anyone. And they are getting back together.

I don't think they're one of the best bands ever, but they do have some good songs.

I'm pretty surprised they're getting back together, though! I'll definately look out for their new releases.

I guess this is as big a shock when Duran Duran came back a year or two ago with a horribly disappointing album of gay tracks. Hopefully the Smashing Pumpkins will bring out some good stuff unlike so many other bands who make a comeback after years and turn out to be crap.

Perhaps creativity fails one after long enough?

Duran Duran waited a lot longer though. Its only been six years since they broke up. The problem is that only Billy and Jimmy Chamberlain have signed on; Iha and Wretzky are not coming back. So, for all intents and purposes, could be a Zwan II, which wouldnt be bad.

If its anything like Corgans solo album, its going to be bad. Terrible. Monstrous.

That's true. Duran Duran also looked quite gay with their dyed blonde-brown hair and their plucked-to-perfection eyebrows. Not that it had much to do with the music, but it added to the fact that their original image was truly lost forever.

Smashing Pumkins? Talk about a voice you can instantly recognize the moment one of their songs come on. So smooth an refreshing. My favorite song is "Today". Keeps me in such a mellow mood when I hear it. I was born in 86 so this band was totally in my genre growing up, and still is today. Can't live without them.

I can't belive they would get back together though. Not that I ever keep up with that junk, but I don't think they would ever get the same momentum as when they were first up an going.

The Smashing Pumpkins was one of the first bands I really got into (must have been in my early teens) and back then they were probably my favourite band. Since then my enthusiasm for them has dwindled a bit though. I don't really listen to any of their stuff apart from the first album, but it's always a good listen that brings up lots of good memories hehe.
