Opeth.

I didn't see another thread like this, although, Taco, feel free to beat me up if there IS somehow another thread like this one.

Who likes Opeth? What's your favourite album, and your favourite song by them?
Anything to add about the band?

I like Opeth, it was lolosky and a little bit of my boyfriend who got me into these guys. Mikael has an amazing voice... I haven't heard all of the albums, but I really like Still Life.

As for tracks, it's hard to choose a favourite. I really like "Face Of Melinda", "The Moor" and "Isolation Years."

Another wonderful album is Blackwater Park, but unfortunately I don't know which track names are which, snce my friend gave me an unmarked Opeth CD. In any case, though, what do you guys think?

Despite it being one of their softer songs, I love "To Bid You Farewell"... I spent like 3 weeks learning it because it's so much fun to play along with. "Harvest" is another excellent song... out of their heavy stuff, I like "Karma" and "Black Rose Immortal".

I use to have a huge obsession from Opeth but I haven't listened to them so much as I burnt them off my HDD and deleted them. I have all of the albums and personally I would have to say Still Life for its sentimental value, every song on there is amazing from the deep growls on The Moor to the soft tranquility on The Face of Melinda. Coming in at a tie I would say Morningrise simply cause it is such an Epic release with a real drawing tone to it, I can't get enough of Blackrose Immortal. Also Blackwater Park is incredibly awe inspiring too, in particular the song "Harvest" holds something real close and personal to me.

I really used to hate this band, I found everything about them boring. Their guitar work simply didn't do anything for me, their song writing was (and still is) very poor, especially in the area of transitioning.

But I not too long ago listened to their entire discography again, and I didn't hate it, I was just a bit bored. MAYH was probably the best of the albums, in that I wasn't bored shitless by it.

Talented band cursed by lack of songwriting capability.

I'll admit I've only heard the one song... and thats 'Celestrial Desolation' or something like that, and I thought it was Ok, a bit too heavy for me though..

Also I forgot to mention if you like Opeth then you will probably enjoy Novembre, they are similar but more Black Metal sounding with differant clean vocals. Their songs have a better flow and have that Gothic Rock sound similar to Tool I guess you can say. They are quite hard to come across so PM me if you want to hear them, Classica is probably their best album in my opinion.

Everybody seems to like MAYH, though I did enjoy it I was mostly captured by Morningrise. I never really took notice of the Lyrics but I do like the vocals especially on Deliverance and Still Life. I never really found them boring mind you I was listening to them a lot on a differant level if you know what I mean.

Zedian has levelled up - (lv 1)
I liked MAYH the most for the longest time and then I got into that whole Damnation phase since I loved the pyschadelic-morbid sound and thought it was a nice departure from most of the same-sounding metal being pummeled out of all nations.

Then their last one combined their heavy side and their more mellow side and I love it.

Can't say I have just ONE fave from them.
