Classical. You know it's good...

Does anyone here listen to classical ?
I do, otherwise i wouldn't have made this thread.
but i did... because i listen to classical music.

anyway. I have a lot of favourites...

J.S. Bach
prolly for his Italian Concerto In F
and of course for the much recognized Toccata Fuge in D

Antonio Vivaldi
for the Four Seasons

Gustav Holtz
for The Planets

anyway. do you like classical?
I think it's neat how a lot of newer bands are using classical scales in thier music. Muse does that a lot and thats why i like them as much as i do

Wow somebody here is actually willing to talk about Classical? I had a thread back there somewhere but it died. A lot of music I listen to has a lot of Classical influence but only few actually perform it, rather they use synths instead.

Also one thing I noticed is 2 of my friends who listen to pretty much the same music as me end up only listening to pure classical. I personally love my metal to do this myself but I do enjoy my classical at times. Basically everything I listened to I enjoy unless of course it was released during or after the 1900's (I have some and it sounds like absolute shit). But ones that stand out include:

Antonio Vivaldi ~ The Four Seasons
Italian Violin music, I find it to bring out quite an Italian atmosphere during each of the seasons, I like to listen to it when I am just relaxing.

Richard Wagner ~ The Essential Wagner (Compilation)[/i]
Some of the most Epic stuff which basically invented the meaning. Richard Wagner's most well known peice would be the Bride March. Also Ride of Valkyries is quite a popular peice, the type you listen to before going to war or something along those lines.

Edvard Grieg ~ Peer Gynt Suite Op 45
Half Scottish, Half Norwegian Edvard made some beautiful stuff, the way I see his peices, is as game/music sounds. In the hall of the Mountain King is a perfect example of this.

Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin ~ Piano Favourites (Compilation)
When it comes to Piano there is nobody in my eyes that comes close to Chopin, his works are so deep and amazing, personally I think this outshines Mozarts piano works which is quite and achievement.

I have only been listening to Classical for the past 6 months and I can't find much people with an extensive knowledge. I started with "The Rose" Classical Collection vol. 1 2 & 3 (Got it for $10 so a great deal) and got suggestions from others.

If you like FF music then you will quite enjoy a lot of those Composers work especially Edvard and Wagner as they were influences to Nobuo. Also Carmina Burana - O Fortuna is worth checking out. What kind of sound are you into? Bit of everything?

Indeed I listen to classical.

Antonio Vivaldi is one of my favorites with his masterpiece The Four Seasons.
It is absolutely brilliant and one of the greatest pieces of art ever made.
Other than him, I like J. S. Bach, Richard Wagner and Grieg, my apologies for I can not think of anymore right now.

Nontheless, Classical IST KRIEG!!!

Meeh *kicks server*

COME ON!!!!
>_<

Definitely. The entire FF6 soundtrack has been described before as sounding very "Wagnerian".

Me? I've been an aspiring classical pianist for the last 5-6 years now. I would hardly consider myself to be very good, but if nothing else, I've developped a vast appreciation for what I like to call, "real" music.

Beethoven is a favourite of mine, mainly because he's so... different. His compositions were some of the first to really convey particular emotions, which is part of the reason he gained so much fame. I mean, chances are, we've all heard his greats. Fur Elise, Moonlight Sonata (personal fave), 5th, 6th and 9th symphonies (Ode to Joy is somewhere in the 30+ minutes), etc...

Bach is perhaps my all-time favourite composer. From his baroque harmonies (Brandenburg concertos and a dozen others), to his organ works. Heh, some people watch porn, I listen to pipe organ music. As far as I'm concerned, it's his organ pieces that are his best, mainly because no one ever really came close to producing anything like his classics.

As I've said, I love baroque music, including the likes of Handel and Vivaldi. "Concerto Grosso" by Handel is an amazing piece combining strings and a pipe organ.

I don't know if too many people have heard of him, but Erik Satie is another composer whose music I'm interested in. His "gnossiennes" are definitely worth checking out, as they are an example of his attempts to create a whole new style of music. "Les Trois Gnossiennes" (basically, the first three), are my favourites.

And if you don't have it, get Fantasia in D Minor by Mozart... NOW!

Anyway, that's about it for me.
