Last Show You Went To

I remember a thread similar to this, a long long time ago, I think. Like, the last time I went to the Warped Tour (because that's what I posted about.) Either way, that was talking about concerts in general. This will be where you post about the last concert you went to. Please do not just list the bands you saw; give us some details of the show, like how the crowd, bands, or venue was. Anyhoo, without further ado...

Last night, I went to "The Summer Of Ska" show in Portland, OR, featuring the bands Westbound Train, Suburban Legend, Big D and the Kid's Table, Voodoo Glow Skulls, and Catch 22. I got to go, because my cousin had an extra ticket; his girlfriend was supposed to go with him. She's missed three shows this way. He didn't make me pay for it either, because he said it would've gone to waste anyway. He also bought me a couple drinks while we were there. He's also on the Reel Big Fish street team, and at this point in time, he knows a lot more about the scene than I do. He's a pretty awesome cousin, eh?

Anyhoo, this was the first show that I'd been to in a year that wasn't in an actual bar (although there was a bar at the back of the hall, and there was a bar just around the corner in the same building.) We primarily stayed in the 21 and over section in the back, because it was less crowded, and so we could get drinks if we wished, I guess.

We missed Westbound Train, because my cousin was waiting for his friend to come. I could've gone in and watched them, but my cousin didn't seem worried about seeing them, and I'd never heard of them, so I didn't really care either. We were more worried about seeing Suburban Legend, which were up next. I think I'd heard a few songs by them prior to the show; they sound to me a bit like Reel Big Fish. I like them a lot. They had like these choreographed moves on stage, and they ended their set with "Under The Sea," too, which I thought was pretty rad. For Big D and the Kid's Table, we went with my cousin's friend to look for food, because we weren't really too worried to see them, either (another band I'd never listened to, although I'd heard of them.)

We got back for Voodoo Glow Skulls. I'd owned an album of theirs before, but I guess I didn't really care for it, because I couldn't understand the lyrics, and the songs kind of bleed into each other, although I liked them a lot better live. They looked kind of like a motley crew (not the hair band, stupid). Kind of bizarre to watch. My favorite part of their set was the beginning, when the lead singer was wearing a luchadore mask. Their one guitarist wore glasses, and had shaved all but the very front of his head. He's my hero (no wait, John Flansburgh is my hero...) Anyhoo, they left, and Catch 22 came on. I'd owned an album of theirs too before, but hadn't been impressed with it either. I didn't like the singer, or something. However, the guy who primarily sang tonight sounded a lot better than the guy on the CD. My cousin told me their old lead singer left them, but that I'd probably heard them after he'd left. I dunno, though... we were listening to his new band's CD, and that sounded a lot like him.

In any case, Catch 22 were fun. I liked how the trombone player would look like he was singing, or playing his trombone a lot, but I could not hear him if he was. He was funny; just kind of stood around off to the side when he wasn't playing. I liked him. Heh. I also thought that their guitar and bass player looked really young. Like, 15 year olds. Maybe it was because the guitarist in particular was really small, and because they stayed in the background the entire time, when I'm used to the guitarists being the front men in bands. *shrug*

Anyhoo, my favorite part of the show was probably Suburban Legend.

Its strange. The last "show" I went to was less than a month ago, but I cant remember much of it. But the last major band concert I went to was over a year ago, and I remember it by heart.

It was the Hives, one of my favorite bands. It was supposed to be me, my best friend Jeremy, his girlfriend Leah, and mutual friend Robyn. Robyn has big breasts and puts out, so it was supposed to be a double date. Anyway, last minute Robyn has to pull out, so were stuck with an extra ticket. We end up taking Leah's sister, Kelly, and my life begins.

About an hour drive to Orlando, to the House of Blues. Just listen to bad music and make jokes. Really boring. Jeremy makes us get there super early so we dont have to wait in line, but nonetheless, there is a line. We wait and wait, and finally get in. Jeremy starts to realize that I have the hots for Kelly and kind of goes his own direction with Leah. I was in my awkward phase still, so its hard to talk to Kelly.

First Band - Hell If I Know ska band. They were ska - AKA, nothing special. The crowd was a bunch of indie kids, so it did not go over well at all. After they played, we all bought Hives t-shirts and drank $5 cups of soda. ****ing concerts.

Second Band - The Rogers Sisters. Not that good on record, not that talented, but amazing live. Really good energy and fun to sing along too.

After they played, everyone ran up to the front and took the best places for the Hives. Jeremy and Leah kind of went to their corner, so I took Kelly to the balcony, and we sat on the couch. I didnt know how to approach her, so I found out the secret to women: if you listen and pretend to be interested, they will sleep with you.

BIG BAND: Hives play. Super amazing. Unfortunately, we went for me, so the three of them fell asleep by then. Screw them. I sang along to every word.

Afterwards. Loss of virginity to Kelly. Best night of my life.

the last show i went to was twiztid and it was good but cool as hell.

EDITED BY TACO: For a thread such as this, I expect more in a post than this. For example, you could've told everyone that twiztid is a rap band similar to Insane Clown Posse. You could've also described the venue you went to, and what the crowd was like. In the future, keep these things in mind, for this thread at least, please.

Hrm, i went to see KillWhitneyDead and The Demonstration 2 or 3 days ago. Amazing Post-Grind type of stuff. Both bands share almost the exact same line up but the still manage to sound quite different from each other. The show was at the local shithole venue, the bulldog cafe. There were a bunch of hardcore guys there, so of coarse, there was much air punching in the pit. The guys in the band were supremely cool when i talked to them though, and they said that they were suprised anyone even came to the show, seeing as how it was the first time they've come through this part of the country. They told me they would definately come back. The music was good, although i thought the bass drums were a little too loud in the speakers. At the end of the show two guy got into a fight sothat was a little gay, it was two of your typical dumbass tough guys duking it out. Anyway, for the most part, the show was good.

Next week I get to go see Dragonforce with Between the Buried and Me.

Last concert I went to was the Metal Crusaders tour in Spartanburg, SC at Ground Zero.

I decided to go late, so I only got to see Kataklysm (a canadian Death Metal band, really great band) and Vader (Polish Death Metal)

I got there a little before Kataklysm came on, and bought a Vader shirt and a Graveworm - Engraved In Black (they are a melodic black/death metal band from Italy).

I went into the main concert area for Kataklysm and they came on and proceeded to rock the place, playing some of my fave songs of theirs like As I Slither and Resurrected. After their show, I went to the car to get my Graveworm album booklets, since i saw they were signing.

I got Engraved In Black, Scourge of Malice and Nutopia signed by them, and then I talked to the singer for a while about different metal related things, such as Wacken Open Air (A HUGE 3 day metal festival in Germany) and about the World Cup.

Then, Vader came out, and i watched half of their set. Thanks to an ear infection, the snare was hurting my ear so I decided to leave. On the way out, I saw a member of Kataklysm near their bus. I asked if he would sign my copy of their new album, In The Arms of Devastation.

He proceeds to not only do that, but he goes inside the venue, and gets the rest of the band, who are nice enough to leave the main area during Vader to sign my booklet and talk to me, a bunch of great guys that band is.

Next concert is Hamburg Rocks, a metal concert in Hamburg, Germany. Some of the bands playing are Metal Church, Rose Tattoo and Michael Shenker Group. Then, the day after the next, is Wacken Open Air 2006.

Ahhhh, iwent to Metal Crusaders on 6/6/06 in cinncinatti^^^

Anyway, i got to go to a really not awesome hardcore show tonight. It wasn't even the good, angry hardcore, it was a bunch of guys in chick pants moaning about their girlfriends. It was absolutely horrific. But it's alright, I'm going to see Dragonforce and Between the buried and me tommorrow.

Last concert I went to was Hellbound with Queen's night here in Amsterdam, Holland.
Tons of dj's played there like Gizmo, Buzz Fuzz, Dano, Partyraiser, Lil terror and loads more.

There were 2 halls there, one was of newstyle and one was the speedcore/terror room, quite small compared to the first one, but that's cause not many people can manage to dance to speedcore long, hehe. It's friggin exhausting.

Well it was a crazy party, crowd went crazy, too many drug usage though, some dude was sniffing cocaine right next to me on the dancefloor >_<;
I dont use drugs though...just energy drinks.
Danced till like 7 am, from 10 pm last night.

Peace out

My last concert was Twiztid too but can't remember much.

EDITED BY TACO: You probably should have waited a little while to post, then, until you had some details. Or asked some friends you went with about it, or looked info up on the show, or looked at your ticket stub, or anything. I was pretty specific about having info on your show when you post in this thread, so try harder next time.

Well Warped Tour was the last one but I dont count that as a show. The last real show I went to was Taking Lottie Home, Xamien, and Thursday. I ended up with a bloody nose, a lose front tooth a not on my head and a very swollen black eye. On the way home I eneded up puking in Toco Bells floor ( Im not saying why) But overall, it was fun. I enjoyed myself very thoughly. Anyone ever seen any of them live?

The last show i went to was Desinfest a local festival that was done among local bands from the scene here in Maracaibo, I went mostly to support my mates of Element, who were playing that night, it was around a one and a half or two months ago. Can't remember.

The logistics were horrible, the show started really late, there was so much drug abuse going on that it was actually funny, specially in a show where almost everyone who played was as sober as a nun, after a couple of horrid shows we got a really good Death Metal band performing the stage, can't remember the name but they performed with power and decision some of the best display i've seen in such a new band of unknown faces. Best show of the 7 that went on.

Although perhaps Element was musically stronger, their sound was weak, which i blame on the guys in charge of the whole sound, but still, they displayed their power-heavy metal to full extent and even the Viking sounded great(when it's an open fact that he sings horribly), they played only 4 songs of the 6 they were supposed to play which was kinda lame, but then again the logistics were awful. I joined them in "Dominios Del Dragon" to perform the dragon parts, which is the only song of them to include growling vocals, normally Eudes performs all the vocals, but he wanted to focus on his heavy metal pitch, and as I knew the lyrics he asked me earlier to sing along him.

So we got 2 shows out of 7 and the show had to end earlier due to several problems in the whole logistics problems. Kida sucks but meh, that's how things are in Maracaibo

I saw Dragonforce, Between the buried and Me, and Bleeding Though last night.

BTBAM played first and definately wasn't at their best, I've seen them perform mush better.
Bleeding Through was 2nd and was terrible. The slamdancers were out in full force and basically knocked each others teeth out.
Dragonforce played last and may i say, i don't know if i've ever seen that many smiles in one place. They plaed all the favorites, and everybody was singing along. There were a TON of crowdsurfers. The keyboardist came out and played a big crazy solo while the rest of the band took a break. He actually managed to shred his keyboard so hard that a few of the keys fell off of it, at which point his band mates made fun of him. The guitar-work was amazing, and the entire band was very tight and on time the whole night. This was one of the best live bands i've seen in a long time.

Last night I went to Corvallis with my brother and sister in law to see Mark Cleaver and some other guy play at the downtown Corvallis Beanery. Mark Cleaver used to be in a band called "Bendixon." You might be able to still find their album around, somewhere. It's called "Slaying the Dragon," or something, I think. I highly recommend it. Anyhoo, my brother used to be really good friends with this guy, so he got us all our drinks. At first I thought he was just getting theres, so I started to get out my wallet, but he was like "What's that about?" and gave me a kinda dirty look. Heh. I got a chocolate mocha shake. It was yummy.

The two guys played mostly acoustig guitar stuff. Some of the songs was just one guy and his instrument, while the others were them together. They also had an air organ that came in a suitcase, a drum machine, and a little flute thing that had a keyboard on it for one song. I thought their stuff was cool, but it was all soft and folksy, and some of the songs were long, so I kinda started to zone out a little bit in places. Or maybe a lot. There were some songs in there that I really liked, though. Like this one song called "We Don't Kiss," which is on my myspace now (but you gotta be in the know to get my myspace, foo Or... just look through the myspace thread...)

Anyhoo, after that, we went to this bar called the Crowbar (which I've been to several times.) My brother and his wife left, but my other brother was there (he didn't hear about the show until afterwards. Both Mark and my other brother thought the other was telling him, apparently. Heh.) Mark was going to come to the Crowbar for a drink, but then he never showed up. In any case, I hung out with my brother and his group of friends, just like in the olden days, got drunk, and slept on the couch of this girl who we know, right through this other guy snoring all night. Heh. And when I woke up, I was still a little tipsy, for like a few hours even. Anyhoo...

First an Last concert actually, and I am extremely em-bear-assed to admit this. It was last summer at the Houtson Live Stick Show An Rodeo. It was hot as hell outside, and I didn't get on any rides at all. My money was actually spent trying to get stuffed anumals.Which I have lost them all, or thrown them away. They have a show everynight here. Eveyrone from George Straight to Blink 182. An the ticket you buy for the night determines which band you are going to see. Now originally I wanted to see someone otrher than the person I am going to name as I try an bore people enough so they won't read it, lol Just kidding. However, my siggnificant other's family were a real bunch of coutry Lover's. So my first/last concert was to go see Reba McEntire on stage performing. An I loved it, lol. An I hate myself for it, but I seriously loved it. An I got some free chili cheese Nacho's out of it so that is always a good thing. an a drink...yummy
