Toromor's post is great and sums it up well..
BUT I personally don't mosh, my hair is too long and it gets tangled between people and pulled all over the place, i usually go to a gig to watch the band, not jump around like a madman... But i have no problem with the people who do mosh, as long as it is not that retarded kung-fu fighting dancing rubbish that has engulfed the hardcore scene.

I prefer just headbanging with a pint in one hand (usually spilling it all over the place) but moshing can be quite funny some times. Just remember to wear some solid footwear, clothes which you can live without, and don't wear any kind of jewellery.

This is what you do to get in a mosh pit "I've been on the out side of one" either punch the guy in fron't of you but if your in a band then say form a circle and that's the key I've seen a music video then just go crazy with the heavy metal and then it will happen naturally, but if you just want to be in a mosh pit I'm telling you that if the band members say form a circle that's the key.
