Turn that around once in a while. Since music is a personal taste it is not a matter of defending ones like or dislike, there is no defence to give and none to ask for. To my ears its good music, a mix of neo classical, some oft' wonderful lyrics (yes, I can make them out, I guess I'm just 'hardkorr kyule' like that) and hard, gutteral singing that, for whatever reason, 'clicks'. There is no such thing as good or bad taste in music, there is simply what works for some and what works for others. And occasionally what repulses large groups across the board, such as 'Rap' or 'Emotional Hardcore'.

And yeah, I listen to Cradle. I also listen to Muse, Appocalyptica, The Black Mages and any number of other none 'gawth metal' music. As for my level of intelligent I really don’t give a flipping burger. And yes I admitted it, it was pretty dumb to just name the exactly tracks on nymphetamine, so what I was lazy and copy it and pasted it. For those that said I don’t know shit about cradle of filth, well think what you want I have some of there albums and been to one of there consorts. For David and Sardonic I’m not even going to bother to reply there flames, opinions, and whatever. They just love to argued and I really don’t have all my life for that. Anyways, to the person that said they were gothic metal, last I checked such a genre isn't exactly in existance. What they ARE is Black Metal...which yes is different from Heavy Metal and Death Metal, and certainly a far cry from Grindcore, but if there's such a thing as Goth Metal I'd like to see other examples.

Gothic metal is a real genre, and Cradle of Filth are a part of it. Black metal is a far cry from what CoF are, a FAR CRY.

Some other examples of Gothic metal bands:

Yeah, I know it is a label. It just isn't the label every high schooler thinks it is. It isn't those Hot Topic faggots. Goth refers to people that listen to Goth rock, for the most part, though other facets of being a Goth can include: appreciation for death and darkness, general pacifism, tolerance, etc.

1 of my friends is a huge fan of them. He told me about them and how great they are. I listened to about a whole album of theirs and just wasn't a fan of that style. I mean I could hear how what they were playing was unique and good, but I think I'm just not a fan of that style. They're very unique and interesting, but their just not the band for me. Interesting sound though, can't deny them that, I've never heard any bands that sounds remotely like that, but I haven't been looking either.

I think that Dani Filth has a really annoying voice. He screams like a little girl, which hits me the wrong way. I do like the song "Nymphetamine", but then again, I have a thing for Liv Kristine.

There are several bands that sound like Cradle of Filth. The ones that come to mind are After Forever, Diabolical Masquerade, Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, and Embraced, all of which I prefer to them.

Last I checked Black Metals only real distinguishing feature from Death Metal was a tendency to shy away from guttaral singing at one time or another, some classical infusion, and more often than not a satanic or pagan theme. Cradle fits the bill nicely. Gothic Metal, as a genre, doesn't really seem any different to me. In fact I took the liberty to look up the term and apprently all Gothic Metal IS is a label that refers to Black, Death, and Doom metal.

The **** is 'Doom' metal? Do you guys just sit around and make these names up? "Aww man, that shits not black enough to be black metal! It's just goth metal! Oh man but these guys are sweet! they're not just Death metal..they're DOOM metal!"

Yes. They are the same genre of music, it is called variety withing the sub-genre. I have listened to Lacuna Coil a good bit, and while they are not so symphonic as CoF they still play the same sub-genre of music.

Black Metal- An extreme evolution of thrash about pushing metal to its audible and lyrical extremes. Guitars are fast and abrasive, often quite minimilistic, and often tremolo picked. Drums are usually fast double bass sections or fast blast beats, usually accompanied by a ride or hi-hat. Vocals are shrieked in a shrill high-pitched tone, and production is often very rough to enhance the atmosphere and abrasiveness of the music. Mayhem, Darkthrone, Gorgorth, Burzum and Kreig are all excellent examples of Pure Black Metal. Some bands encorperate keyboard work into their sound, and are to be considered melodic or symphonic black metal, some good examples of these bands are: Dub Buk, Emperor, and Limbonic Art.
