Well, in that case, I'm glad that I recently did start listening to them. Yes, that's me, the one that starts listening to oldschool bands in this day and age. So sue me.

I have 3 of their albums thus far, Paranoid, Volume 4, and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. I love them all to death, although Volume 4 is a step down in my humble opinion, but still damn good.

All the old stuff is great, not really huge on them but I do enjoy them when I am in the mood. I have all the Opeth CDs and the majority of Slayers, all Emperor and few other minor bands so I understand what you mean, complete discographies own ye all!

i love the 1970 sabbath basement tapes from the ozzman cometh - the version of war pigs on there with the more-satanic lyrics:

Witches gather at black masses
Bodies burning in red ashes
On the hill the church in ruin
It's the scene of evil doin

It's a place for all bad sinners
Watch them eating dead rats' innards
I guess it's the same
Whereever you may go
Oh lord yeah!

**** yeah. sabbath is ****ing amazing. period.

They are my favourite band and I have pretty much everything by them which I have been able to get my hands on. Hell, I even own the Tony Martin era albums even though they are complete and utter shit. One is not a collector for nothing...

I saw a Paranoid picture disk this morning, signed by Ozzy.
It came with a big picture of Ozzy.
Signed by Ozzy.

I am a big fan of their Dio era albums, and I love the Ozzy albums, but I just like those a bit less than the Dio ones.

Heaven and Hell is probably my favorite Sabbath album in general.

The Dio albums are a bit inconsistent if you ask me. Heaven and Hell as absolutely oustanding tracks such as Children Of The Sea, Heaven And Hell, and Lonely Is The Word. But there's also stuff on there which really isn't anything to write home about. Wishing Well and Walk Away for instance...

Mob Rules kept a higher level of quality throughout the album I think, but there wasn't really anything on it I liked as much as the best songs from Heaven and Hell.

I like Black Sabbath. I think they have a very good sound, and they're quite entertaining. I like Toni's style and think that they're very talented. I only have a handful of their songs, but from what I have I think they're skilled and should be appreciated for what they've done musicly.

Black Sabbath was my favorite band for a long time. I adore their older stuff and Randy Rhoads is one of my favorite guitarists of all time. I've tried to get into some of their later stuff...but I dunno, I was never really able to. *shrug*

Still, a good band and certainly one that anyone who likes Metal or Rock should give a try.

Randy Rhoads was never in Black Sabbath. He was Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist on his first 2 solo albums. In fact Randy Rhoads didn't even like Black Sabbath...

You know a lot of people tell me that but I was fairly sure he was. *shrug* I dunno for sure though. It's just possible I've never heard anything by black sabbath at all.
