80's glam

well guys i havent been here for a while (since febuary 2005 actually)
my music taste has changed alot i used to be into heavy metal and death metal you know all that jazz!
but now im transformed person and now listen to.... 80s glam!
motley crue, faster *****cat, WASP, aerosmith, van halen etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc...

does anyone have any thoughts on this sort of music?
im only askin for your comments and not your insults so be nice please???

I dont know if theyre considered Glam rock but Twisted Sister owns!

I love Motley Crue, Van Halen, Kiss, Aerosmith and all those others. I don't think Guns n' Roses are really considered glam but I love them! I used to be into boring pop music when I was younger but as I got older I went into hard rock and stuff like that. Glam rock is pretty awesome. I love Hair Metal too. I got to do an oral for it last year for Modern History, it was sweet.

Yeah, Twisted Sister are pretty awesome. I saw the video clip to 'I Wanna Rock' today. It's pretty funny.

Glam rock and hair metal are the same thing, and well 99% of it isn't metal, and sucks. Ass. Lots and lots of ass.

Skid Row is about the only band from that "scene" that has any business reaching my ears.

I wouldn't call them the same thing; definately similar, but not exactly the same. I notice a difference particularily in the lyrics. Glam has more to do with sexual freedom as opposed to hair metal's very heterosexual lyrics. But anyways.

I don't mind some hair metal (I prefer that term to glam, assuming that we're lumping them together). Guns N Roses has a few songs that I enjoy such as You Could Be Mine and Civil War. Quiet Riot's Metal Health is a fantastic album as far as I'm concerned. Motley Crew has done some not bad stuff, but nothing breath taking. It's a genre that's merely 'alright' to me.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Meatloaf or Petra. I really don't know what qualifies an 80s band as glam rock. I know genre is dirived from general, but genre's are to genralized.

That genre for me is pure comedy, a time when people clearly weren't thinking what they were doing, whenever a song by any band you guys have mentioned comes on its usually time for an obscene amount of air guitar and general "i am a rock god" and singing in front of mirrors making strange cheesy poses and other ego related madness.

Some of the stuff is great though.

personally i dont see how you dare! lol! hair metal is the way forward!
(im actually quite sprised so many people took in an interest in my form of music!
(btw, have any of you guy bin down wildside in nottingham before? if so im lil guy known as joe)

as long as you ate talking about the nottingham in England and there isn't a nottingham somewhere else in the world.

I haven't been to this wildside, but i do live in Derby which is next to Nottingham so i could venture there if need be, it takes only 15 mins in the car.

By the way my post was not an attack on the music, the music is great in a cheesy way.
