~ The General ~

“These are dark days! We are at war!
The enemy approaches us and taunts us from afar
Once they draw close, chaos will sprout
Shedding tears and blood is what it’s all about!”

With these words the general sent us to battle
To him we were his men, not just his fighting cattle
A brave man he was, a one without fear
Fighting alongside you, never leaving your rear

This man, the general, was on the front, yet a man of peace
He was always eager to see one battle cease
This man, the general, was as strong as could be
He was always reliable, never let you down, unconditionally

“In the midst of battle, don’t let them get to you
Anything they can, you can do to them too!
Fear not these evildoers; they know not right from wrong
Salvage them! Seal their fate! Put them where they belong!”

Such an inspiration this man was, I knew no other
He treated each and every one of us as his very own brother

Swift and swell the opposing commander suddenly showed his face
Before anyone knew what happened, he put the general in his place

There we all stood, we just couldn’t believe our eyes
There we all stood, witnessing the general’s demise
He was departing us, the man with who we all so much share
A gentle man ‘til the very end; he had lost his battle, but didn’t seem to care
