Exclamation Authors' Corner

Ok all you writers out there, this thread is for you to tell all who you are, and what you're into as far as writing goes. And aside from sharing your works I myself will be asking and giving advice to all. I don't criticise cruelly, and if you want, I can help you with any questions pertaining to writing.

Also, any new writers out there, I've been writing since I was twelve, and thats six years. So I feel that I should look upon those who are new and bestow my wisdom. Feel free to post with comments questions and other.

By "who you are" do you mean published? I know psiko's been published and I'm submitting some of my work but I don't know about anyone else, and you haven't listed anything either. If you mean names, well, I don't give mine to strangers.

For genre, I'll write anything if I have ideas for it but I mainly write fantasy.

I've written poetry, short stories, started a couple novels and a couple nonfiction articles so far. Pretty much the only thing I never write is fanfiction of any type.

Well, maybe I forgot to specify and I apologize for that, and I thank you for your keen sense of observation and informing. I myself have never published anything bu I am in the process of my first book, but I have won a few Poem contests from my local library and a larger city wide contest as well. And by names, maybe not anyones name persay, rather thier forum names, its a way I intend to get to know some of the other wriers in a semiformal manner. I will be posting my own works very shortly. Thanks again.

I would also like to know just how many published works you have and how long it took you, this is mainly a curiosity I have, because I have devoted 6+ years to writing among many other things mainly school of course, but I have been working so long and you are the only published writer that I have access to asking, if that makes sense.

Well I took up writing what 3months ago. It all started(gee sounds like a fairytale) when we were told to write a horror story for our mock gcse's, now I was really pleased about this as I enjoy stephen king as much as the next person and I'm generally big on the whole horror thing. But I was sorely disappointed to find out we had to stick to "guidelines" which meant the story had to pan out a certain way! God I was annoyed! So I decided to write another story on the side, see how it went,if I had time you know just for fun. I couldn't get very far what with being through my mocks so I just wrote as much as I wanted to and it was just the intro. I'm starting it up again as we speak as I've just finished all homework over the holidays! Anyway at 15 I'm not the worlds best story teller I'll be frank, but I enjoy it just as a pastime I don't think I'd want to get published yet even if my work was up to standard.

So mainly I'm writing this one book because it gives me something to do and I enjoy it. Its not great but so long as I'm having fun I'm not too bothered just see how it works out and if I don't like it I'll scrap it and start something else!

Er.. Dragonheart isn't published. Neither am I. And neither is Psiko (unless he forgot to tell me he was.)

And no, DH isn't the only writer you have access to asking. Try real writing forums. Like Absolute Write. Tons of published writers there.

But me, I've been writing for 6 years as well. Ever since 12th grade. When I found TFF in 2002, my writing has vastly improved very quickly. Overnight, pretty much. Then I just slowly tweaked my style and slightly improved ever since. The three of us are slowly writing and trying to get published.

Oh, I was a bit confused, my bad. But none the less I think its great that you all enjoy it as much or more than myself. I just want others opinions, I feel I do my best works when others tell me the pros and especially the cons to my works, it makes me feel I need to improve. And just to add the first work, I have created a poem. It is primarily based on one of my books in progress, but it is also a brief glimpse to my poetic side.

Tare's Secret

Oh rider
dark rider
Do you have no care?

What is it
In your eyes
your blackened stare

A promise
Black iron
In your weapon bear

And the gift
In silver
Forever to wear

The dark one
The black one

I started to write about 7 months ago. That's when I started to write the Valentine poems, and noticed how swiftly I put them on paper. I've always enjoyed a good story, although I always find it hard to read. Sounds stupid, but I enjoy it more if someone reads a story to me. Sounds stupid? I have an explanation:

When I read, I use a lot of imagination, and then I automatically fill in the rest of the story, without even reading it. This can have really negative effects, because the story might turn out MUCH worse then you could ever expect. So, in fact, I found out that I really do that, so why not write!? Maybe that'll enable me to read in peace and quiet. Until then, I have a lot of writing to do...

Not stupid at all! I understand why too. When a story is told to anyone, they use more energy to listen, which leaves even more energy since you are only listening to wander off into the story itself. Thas what I go through at least. But its not stupid, its just the way you work, and that is different for all of us. And continue writting, I think it also boosts our thought proces and in some ways makes us more inteligent. (To a very fine point of course.)

I've been writing for about a decade now, and I'm planning soon for my first published works. It is neither a story nor a poem, and it is not educational.

It is a look into the emotional mind, a look into pyschology and love and the effects it has on oneself.

I feel it is an interesting enough read and is not a long book at all. It is more or less a short few pages of which display my personal feelings on emotion.

However, I do write poetry and stories as well.

I find this thread to be refreshing, and I will definately come here again, either to offer critism, and/or ask for critism.

I'm glad, and when your insightful work comes out, I'll look for it. It seems like you put alot of yourself into it, thats the best type of work, any way good luck with that and I hope you keep posting here. I tried to make this thread as interesting and useful as possible, glad you enjoy it. I am planning a few more works of my own to be posted later on, mostly poems, and a small short story, kinda like a very long poem but it tells a long story in short time, well you'll see.

I've been writing for just about one year now. Last summer I started and finished my first short story. Short stories are all I've written so far, but I'm sure one day I'll make my way up to a much larger sized book. To be honest, it's not books that I'm interested in writing. Since about last summer, I've been wanting to work as storyline/character development for video games.

By the way, I could swear I started this kind of thread up a couple of months ago.

you're probably the biggest emo I've seen. Shut up and actually try to hold a thought.

I can only assume the last two are also Nin'.

What the hell is the theme with calling me emo and telling me I need to grow up? You people are retarded.

Thats just as good. Short stories are my fav too, but thats because usually you can do alot more in just a few pages. I do however have a deeper respect for longer stories because I know first hand how long it takes to complete, and that its hard to develop a long story line without getting confused.
