Richard A. Knaak

Any of y'all ever heard of any of his work, aside from the Dragonlance series with the minotaurs, or whatever? (I've never actually read those ones...) What I've read of his work are all of his Warcraft books (except the Manga) and a few of his Dragonrealm books (his original series.)

I really find his writing to be pretty entertaining. I took the first three of his Dragonrealm books with me this Summer, and I had to pace myself so I wouldn't finish them all in like 2 weeks, or something. I think he does a good job of writing action scenes. There was one particular scene from his first Dragonrealm book, Firedrake, that sticks out to me. I don't remember exactly how it went, obviously, but he started the scene by describing dwarves mining in the foreground, or something, and then these huge dragons come flying out of holes right behind them, and the dwarves, of course, all run for cover.

I also thought it was a nice touch that he set up future plot lines for his next books as early as his first book (Firedrake, again.)
Spoiler:
While the Gryphon and Shade are discussing the problem of the Black Dragon and the Gold Dragon, they notice a peculiarly cold draft, and go to the library to look up info on it. However, the library books that should have information on this phenomenon have been destroyed before the two get there. This small issue turns into the main focus point of the second book.

There was also a bad guy introduced as a very minor villain in the first book, who grew into a subplot problem in the second book, and by the the third book, was the main villain of focus. Fun stuff.

Now, the Warcraft books... I think I read through those in a few day's time, each. I picked them up, but could not put them down. They were page turners. They caught my attention. They fuckin' kicked my ass!! (You get the point.)

Do you even know who I'm talking about? Do you like this author? Your thoughts... I will have them.
