Valentine Works III ~ The Princess' Quest - White Version
|
|
Once upon a time there was a kingdom that ruled over their beautiful and stretched lands. They were a peaceful civilization that was well maintained. It was a perfect society where everyone was joyful.
Beyond the vast and sunny forest, lay the castle of the kingdom, where the King and his daughter, the Princess looked over the land. The giant castle held many citizens. Most of them were taken in by the King, which he found begging or near starving. The King took good care of his people, and saw them as equals. The King’s daughter was his most prized possession and he gave her everything she desired. For her last birthday, she received a gorgeous white dress, encrusted with small rubies, which originally belonged to her mother. This was where the beautiful Princess belonged, this is where she would be most happy, in the safety of the grand castle.
One day, the Princess found herself alone in her room. She looked out the window, where she could see beyond the great forest and the nearby village. She saw the many children play and the people who enjoyed being around each other. She thought to herself and wondered why she didn’t recognise those feelings. The Princess stepped away from the window and walked through the large corridors of the castle. As she walked, she kept on contemplating on how she never experienced what the villagers had. For hours she promenaded, thinking, and ignoring all greets as she did.
Evening came and the Princess retired to her room. There, she thought even more. Outside, she saw the sun setting and she realised another day had passed so easily. From that moment on, the Princess didn’t hesitate anymore. She quickly ran towards the door and made haste to one of the citizens’ quarters. At this time, it was too early for any one of them to be there. She grabbed the clothing she found in one of their rooms and changed in to them. Nobody noticed the changes as she made her way outside of the castle, as everyone was used in seeing her dressed in royal clothing.
As the Princess stepped outside, she took a deep breath. For some reason, she seemed quite happy. The royal guards greeted her as if she was a normal villager as she walked by. She couldn’t believe how easily she fooled them and was glad to know that she had started her journey towards the village. As the sun was still slowly going down, the Princess walked through the forest. She enjoyed every second of the beautiful colour shades she saw, which were created by the setting sun. She followed the long path that led her all the way to the village.
The first thing she saw upon entering the fairly large village was the giant bonfire on its square. She witnessed people making music and dancing to it around the huge fire. It made her smile. Suddenly, she was pulled towards the circle of dancing people by a one of the young men. Before she even realised it, she was surrounded by the joyful people, who were laughing, dancing and celebrating. The Princess did not even know what they were celebrating, all she knew was that the feeling she had then, was a feeling she never had before. A feeling that she didn’t want to lose.
Night eventually came upon the village and the people, along with the Princess, kept on dancing the long night away. All their worries seemed to have faded away during the night as they watched the sun slowly rise. The Princess met many new people and was amazed by their lifestyle. She wished to stay longer, but knew she couldn’t, for she had to return to the castle. She bid her farewell to everyone and retraced her steps back towards the castle.
While she was walking the long path to the castle, she thought about everything that had happened the last night. She enjoyed every bit of it, but still she felt as if though something were missing. It kept her pondering the whole time. She tried to ease her mind by looking at the large trees and the bright green colour they had. She suddenly noticed something disturbing; a pack of wolves was gathering to feast on the young Princess. As she got surrounded by the wolves, she knew she was helpless. She had no options and it seemed that this would become the place of her death. Fortunately, someone heard that she was in distress and ran to her help. It was a young man of around the Princess’ age dressed in a white garb. He didn’t hesitate even a second to pull out his slender, sharp blade. And within a matter of seconds, the handsome young man demonstrated his skills and defeated the pack.
Before the Princess even had the chance to speak to the brave white-cloaked male, he dashed away and disappeared in the woods. The young Princess was impressed by his performance and was glad to still be alive. A bit shocked from the whole incident, she continued to walk up to the castle. The guards noticed her approach and questioned her: “Halt! Who goes there?!” It took them a while to recognise their own Princess: “Oh, Princess, it is you. Excuse our ignorance.” Even though they apologised for their lack of attention, they failed to understand how they could’ve let the Princess out of the castle in the first place.
The Princess went straight to the throne room, which she had to use to get in to her own room. She ran into her father, the King, who was worried sick: “Daughter, where have you been? Did you not realise your absence troubled me?” The King remained silent after that and the Princess understood what she had done and went to her room to rest.
Before she could open her door, she heard the throne room doors open. The big, finely ornamented doors revealed a young man in a white garb when opened. She saw it was the same young man who had saved her in the woods. She hid behind the huge red curtains at the sides of the room to eavesdrop on the conversation: “I greet you, your Majesty. I have come from a land afar seeking your beautiful daughter. I have heard many tales stating she is the most gorgeous being of these lands. I wish from you, to prove myself and to win her hand.” The King was surprised by this sudden guest: “Hmm, yes. I am very glad you have taken your valuable time to travel this far. I will grant you opportunity to prove yourself. Tonight, there is the annual royal ball. If you want to show your worth, then that is the place to do so.” And with that, the two gentlemen seemed to have arranged a settlement.
Evening came and the throne room was filled with people attending the royal ball. The Princess stepped out of her room, wearing her, with rubies encrusted, white dress. All the people in the room were stunned by how gorgeous the Princess looked. The young man from before then entered the room. He was wearing a white suit, but it seemed nothing compared to the majesty of the dress that the Princess was wearing. The King was glad to see the young man had arrived, he introduced him to his daughter: “Traveller, this is my beautiful daughter. You have the honour of dancing with her.”
The young man elegantly just shook the Princess’ hand, staring in her eyes doing so. The band played a lovely song and they started to dance. All the people seemed to be amazed by their dance and enjoyed every bit of it. As they danced, the two smiled at each other continuously. The Princess realised what she was missing all this time. She was glad to have finally found it. Even the King himself approved of the young man and he would soon enough become Prince of the kingdom. They would have many good times together and live happily ever after…
