christian gods REAL name
everyone refers to him as "god" in christianity and i wondered if he had another like real name aargh this is kind of a stupid question but still...

I don't think he has a "real" name persay. He's believe to be the creator of all and has always been who he was so there is no need for a "real" name other than God. Unlike his son Jesus, he was on earth as a man so therefore he was given a name. I'm sure a devote Christian could do a better job of explaining this.

He does have a real name. He revealed it to Moses
on Mount Sainai when he talked to Moses through the burning bush. The Jews wrote it as YHWH... but we translated it to "YAHWEH", which is a verb form "To Be"... Another form of his name is "I Am". His name could also be translated to "Adonai".

"I am that I am" or something like that. He is THE God to that religion/s, the only one, and is everywhere and in everything, so if they give Him a name, it specifies Him, when He isn't specific, but everything and everywhere. He doesn't NEED a name. He is who He is.
I'm not a christian, but I learned a lot when I went to bible camp and youth group (forced by my g-ma) and went to a private christain school for a year (also by my G-ma). During the story of Moses, they ask and question Him (and about his name, since the Egyptians had named their gods) while they're out in the desert, and it is explained in that way that I told you there. |

I suppose in that sense naming "God" would be like naming the Universe - it's just not needed because name and function are the same thing. Some people could view that as pretentious. |

He doesn't really need a name... but God is what most people call him.
Yaweh, God, and Allah (sp?) are all the same being, and there's not really anything else that's specific religion-wise, unless you count Jesus as well.
