As a note, fasting is something entirely different. They do not do it for prolonged periods of time, ie months of starving themselves (at least, most semi sane religions (yes, sanity and religion, together, can be disputed )). Usually it's a day, maybe a LITTLE longer, but not much.

They do not do it b/c they think they're fat or something, but to make a stand or to achieve a different state of reality- debatedly, as well, but, when starving yourself, I'm sure your body goes through all sorts of neato chemical changes In Anorexics cases it's a constant thing they do, b/c they think they're fat

Senna has levelled up - (lv 1)
I myself have never been through anorexia but I've had something like it. Bulimia. I know what it feels like. It's not nice. I was put inot rehab for three months and I knew three girls that died from it. It's not a joke and it's not funny. It's a problem with self esteem which is fueled by the media. You see models walkin around so thin that you can see their ribs. And theyr'e defined as beauitful. People think that to be accepted as beautiful you have to be thin. Then they starve themselves. Some are lucky enough to get over it. But some, like my three friends, don't.

I don't get sucked into the media as much as I used to, I don't have any problems with body image really.

I would like to say well done to all those who have conquered anorexia. I have seen the effects of it and I have seen people around me die because of the tyrannical disease.

i'd like to draw atention to my name.
SIMON Drake (ok so my real name's Martin, so sue me!)
but i'm male.

Society isn't to blame, anorexics don't think they are beautiful when they're skeletons. They thing they're fat, no matter how much weight they lose.

I've only been going a few months, but a friend of mine, has had it for two years! She's so damned thin she collapses in bio class, thats how weak she is. I hope she don't die!

Wow...I don't mind if people want to be skinny..but anorexic is just weird..
Slim people look bette rthan fat..but people where you almost see the bones are just weird..sorry to say it.

There is nothing wrong with a little bit of fat..everybody has it and it is almost impoissble to loose it without getting anorexic.

Quit it people....you don't get any prettier becoz it.

Well when i went through chronic depression recently i stopped eating. But fortunately it didn't last long, as i have a medical condition that helped me there.

Basically my system is slow, thus there is more acid in my stomach... if i don't eat much, it burns through the stomach wall... so i HAD to eat. But i have no idea why i suddenly stopped. Food suddenly seemed really disgusting to me...

Anyways, i am glad i didn't have to suffer, and i hope no one else does...

I hope u get through it man.

I got the solution to anorexia.

Isn't the problem with anorexic people is that they see themself fat, but they aren't ? ... don't you get it ? they always look at themself in the mirror. Let's just get them a deforming mirror that will make them look more than skinny. HEHE, I'm a genius.

...

What can a person like me say about anorexia... well let me say that it must take a lot of will power to do such things because I hate throwing up.
Last week I had a liver problem, so I threw up 14 times during the night (didn't sleep much). The next day, all the blood vessels around my eyes and in my eyes had blew up. My vision was totally fock up for the next 2 days... who the hell wants that ?

The only real thing that I feel that I must say about anorexia is get help for people that have it. For those that have conquered it, congradulations and please help others to benefit from your success.

To some people, for some reason they think I look anorexic, but I'm not! I eat like a pig, I just don't gain any weight. The only thing that I ever went through that caused me to stop eating was anxiety. I had it for like, 6 months. I still ate food just not enough. Thankfully I'm over that now. I have also never known anyone that was anorexic.

I am very impressed by anyone who has enough will power to overcome anorexia.

It drives me crazy when people get so worked up about how much they weigh or how they look. Honestly if people try to be skinny just to impress somebody else or to go out with that one guy, then it's not worth it. The people that care about your looks wont get anywhere in life and they wouldn't really love you, you'd never find true love if you only look on the outside. If your not the most beutiful or popular person in the world, it's honestly easier to find true friends, because you know they're not your friend just to get something from it.

There so many more important things in life to use your energy and emotions on. You never know when you life will hit a huge bump in the road. And honestly, I know for experience, if you always obsess about your weight and looks, it just gets the people around you annoyed. It gets old when that's the only thing you're worried about. It's SOOOO much more fun to be around people who aren't always putting themselves down.

I've a friend whose quite anorexic... though her situation is not the typical one you'd see where the girls just do it to be pretty... it's sad, she really fears food.

Having an imense fear of food, not because it will make you fat, but because it may be poisoned. I know for sure she won't eat canned foods because she fears botulism. She won't eat grapes or fruits because she's afraid of pests and creatuers. She won't eat meat because she's afraid of salmenella from chicken and it goes on...

There are people just like that, who cry because every day they have to rush head first into a deep fear, a strong fear that persists its ugly head. It's not that they don't want to eat, it's that they can't.

And so I'd like to define two different types of Anorexia.

1) A fear of becoming less than societies perfect image

2) A fear of food

hmmm... I dont know any anorexic people, nor do I wish to meet any.

Quite frankly, it's the anorexic's fault as much as society's. Hell, society wants people to be thin, but who the **** is society to tell people anything? and why the hell do people listen to what other people say?

seriously, I'm not fat, but I'm certainly not skinny. Some freshman at my school called me fat. Little did he know that I'm like rock solid, so he went to poke my stomach and gasped in shock that I wasn't fat. The point of this story is to say that society has gotten some ****ed up notion that not being a bean-pole is a bad thing...

now, i only see a problem when you're noticably fat because you don't do anything but move from the TV to the comp to the kitchen to the shitter and then to your bed.
