Harvest Moon!

Talk about really anything in the series, What was your favorite one? what is your favorite girl/boy? (give reasons...) What was your favorite aspect of the game (crops/animals/the people?), and what do you expect for future releases (past the Wii version coming out soon). Theres so much I could ask, feel free to write anything about them.

My favorite so far was Back to Nature; It had an ok "story", It had an unbelieveable amount of stuff to do, The town and people were well established. They had decent months and time of day, That game was incredible. My favorite girl was Ann, she had kinda a big forehead but otherwise she was perfect. I like girls who are fun and are also an individual. Karen gave me a kinda coy bitch vibe, don't get me wrong she was nice but one of those people who would definatly be a low down tease in real life. I really like taking care of the animals in the game, caring for them, watching them grow into prize winners. The crops were good for a challenge if you get lots of them but animals>plants for me.

What I don't like are some of the new ones, where A Wonderful Life gave a more 3d, less cartoony look, it was super lame that there were only 10 days in a month and the game ended after so many years. There was also a total lack of any traditional/fun events/fairs. The town was so small and you had to water plants and milk cows too often. The crops were helpless at making money since they needed to be watered constantly for the hope of a 2nd harvest, which left trees that once they grew required no care and gave out too much profit... The town was too small with a sad selection of brides.. Not to mention the absolutely terrible translations of the first versions, It must have been translated by an internet translator or something worse...

Magical Melody had ok gameplay but still didn't have the special satisfaction and diversity of Back to Nature. The whole game was a step down in that way. Friends of Mineral Town (an upgraded remake of BTN) game had better graphics, better gameplay and basically better everything else (A GBA GAME!!!a little cartridge made before this game, for a traveling system holds a better more extensive game then a disk for a home console) It was kinda still worth playing seeing that it had a new cast of brides, multiple houses, and semi-decent everything else...

The old ones are pretty BA... I can't really place why.

I'm looking forward to the new Wii one coming out, I just hope the village and crops arn't as crappy as AWL's were. The ostriches might be fun. If they drop the ball again on this one though I may actually give up on the new ones and just play BTN and FoMT forever.

This game sucked. I hated all of them. I was never really into it. If you like to play as a little kid who owns a farm, then be my guess.

I really enjoy the harvest moon games. I own A Wonderful Life, and I really enjoy it. The game that got me into the series was the one for either gameboy or gameboy color. I played it at my cousin's house while he was playing final fantasy X, I think. He kept getting frustrated, while i was having a wonderful time. I have a rom for the SNES game, and it is great game.

I really do enjoy the Harvest Moon series. I take great pride in having a well organised booming farm and healthy animals.

My favourite was Harvest Moon for the SNES. Second to that would be Harvest Moon DS coz hell it's portable. I have a farm in my pocket <3

I have always gone for the bar girls. I guess because I can do all my work during the day and then go give them a visit in the evening. I don't intentionally go for them.. they are just convenient =].

I am also looking forward to the Harvest Moon game on the Wii. The port of Magical Melody was ohkay.. but having one designed for Wii will be fun. I hope.

The game quality have kind of been deteriorating lately so this is a good chance to pick up.

Harvest Moon's BORING!! I tried it and didn't like it at all. It's more like a chore than having fun. At least that's my opinion.

Wow I didn't realize there were people who were so disappointed in it. What did you expect? Aliens would come and grab your cows and you would have to fight them off with M4's? Its a nice relaxing game, a sidetrack from the overloads of violent games (I'm not against violence or anything I just don't think that is what makes games fun).

Yea it can be boring but I don't think it's meant to be played for hours straight (even though I do). It's like an alternate reality you can come and go as you please. I personally like raising things, naming them and then play mini-games with them. Some (not all) have tons of story that develops over time with distinct characters. It certainly does take patience and a slight interest in ranching/livestock/agriculture but its still good in my opinion.

If I ever got rich I would retire on a ranch (but hire someone for early morning care lol)

So anyways like I said If you tried the game and disliked it, I'm actually asking, What did you expect?

Yeah.. it's a reLaxing game.. so whenever I pLay it, I get feeL so sLeepy.. Anyway, I aLready pLayed the Harvest Moon: A wonderfuL Life and the Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon.. and I must say I enjoyed this game.. but get bored w/ it easiLy..

I've only played Magical Melody so far and I didn't mind it, it's fun and cute. I was thinking about getting the one for the DS but heard it wasn't that great. So they are making another game for the Wii? That sounds pretty good to me! I am looking forward to it.

Yeah as far as I knew Magical Melody on the Wii was just a port of the Gamecube version so it wasn't that good.
The next one Tree of Tranquility I think it's called.. is made for the Wii so it should be a lot better.

I have the DS Harvest Moon, which I am currently playing through and I have no problems with it. But I am a big Harvest Moon fangirl so you never know. =D

I like Magical Melody but I hate the music! Does anybody else feel the same? It's repetitive and annoying in my opinion. Maybe it's just me.

Edit: I looked on IGN and they only give the new Harvest Moon a 6.5/10. That doesn't sound too great. Then again those reviews aren't the opinions of everybody.

I have always wanted to play Magical Melody but there has always been a game I wanted just a little bit more. So is it really good? You have to collect music notes or something? That would be similar to the Harvest Moon DS where you need to find the Harvest Sprites. It is a little annoying but it's still a good game.

Ah yeah but they didn't give Infinite Undiscovery a good rating either and I love that game. They gave it like a 6.5 or something.

Magical Melody is alright but nothing spectacular really. Yeah, you collect musical notes by doing lots of different things. It's entertaining for a little while but gets old. The new Wii game looks cool though, I hope it comes out over here soon.. before Christmas! xD
