Metal Gear Solid 4

I just noticed that there wasn't a thread about it. But anyways, I can't quite explain it so here's one from Wikipedia:

Set in 2014, five years after the "Big Shell Incident" (the events of the Plant Chapter from Metal Gear Solid 2), Metal Gear Solid 4 portrays a world where the restriction of military intervention on foreign soil has been eased, fueling the need for private military companies (PMCs) to fight proxy wars for business purposes. Nanotechnology has become prominent, both to enhance the capabilities and enforce the loyalty of mercenaries. The nanomachine system that PMCs use is called "Sons of the Patriots" or "SOP". The five largest of these PMCs (Praying Mantis, Otselotovaya Khvatka, Werewolf, Pieuvre Armement and Raven Sword) are owned by a single mother company named Outer Heaven, operated by Liquid Ocelot. Amassing an army whose manpower rivals that of the United States, Liquid prepares to launch an armed insurrection by taking control of SOP. With the world once again in crisis, a rapidly aging and disillusioned Snake (now known as Old Snake) is deployed into the Middle East by Roy Campbell to terminate Liquid. Guns of the Patriots takes place in five locations: the Middle East, South America, Eastern Europe, Shadow Moses Island, and Outer Haven.

So does anyone else own it?

I don't own it but I rented and beat it. It was quite the epic game I wasn't disappointed. It also ties all the other games together as it IS the conclusion of the series. I beat it on Big Boss difficulty(hard) and got partway through The Boss difficulty (extreme), I got hawk or falcon rating, I can't remember... I'm not insane enough to get Big Boss rating or to even try getting it. That being said though MGS3:subsistence is still my favorite of the series, #1 is a close second. Now onto the stuff that contains some spoilers:

Spoiler:
When you go back to Shadow moses I LOVED the nostalgia of the place and I usually hate nostalgic crap. You also got to pilot Metal gear REX!!!!!! sadly it was only for a short time.

I wish Liquid Ocelot used Liquids voice but the game really was more centered around Ocelot as it becomes apparent. It's strange that he is more instrumental to the plot then even snake is, like he's the main character lol.

Its also funny that snake was super old in that one where ONE of the reasons why snake wasn't the main character of 2 was because some survey said that people (girls I think) "didn't wanna play an old geezer" along with the eventual statement that Raiden was put into "ask questions a vet like snake wouldn't".

I also hated how basically the go-to answer for everything in that game is "The nanomachines did it" like with vamp

There were other things but I can't really remember them at the moment... another day, another post perhaps

I've beat this game a few times, and the only think that I can say is that it's the best game ever created.

Spoiler:
The end battle between Old Snake and Liquid Ocelot is fantastic, probably the best fight sequence in any video game. And the purpose behind it is great, too. The Patriots are destroyed, so there's really no reason for the fight, other than Ocelot wants to fight somebody who can compare to Big Boss, because going into the battle Ocelot knows that he is going to die due to the Foxdie cells in Snake's blood. Although, with the beating that he took, I can't say which killed him, Foxdie or brain trauma.

The battle with Metal Gear Ray is the greatest Metal Gear battle in any of the games... Well, maybe not as great as the battle with TX-55 in the original Metal Gear. Anyway, in this one, you actually get to pilot Metal Gear Rex. Who would have known that an already damaged Metal Gear could take that much damage.

And Big Boss is alive, which is strange, because Snake killed him twice. He shows up at the end of the game, and tells Snake all about the Patriots, and all the mistakes that he's made, which really explains a lot of the unexplained events throughout the entire series.

Again, this is the best game ever created.

I own it, I bought the special edition version. I'm currently in my third play through to unlock more badges, and items. I just finished my second run and unlocked the Altair and Stealth suit recently, so now I'm just using it to earn the easier emblems. Currently just stocking up on non-lethal arms to have a go at the Big Boss emblem.

Best game ever indeed! My husband gave me the MGS4 PS3 Bundle for my bday. I finished the game and now I am trying to unlock everything.

Keisuke, you can unlock the Altair costume via the password feature after you finish the game once. Although, maybe that's not the route that you're going for. haha, sometimes I just like the easy way.

Right now I am also trying to unlock some items. I finished the game in Normal Mode and I am trying to unlock items/emblems through Easy Mode to speed things up. Then once I got the bandana and stealth camo, I'd give Big Boss Extreme or Hard Difficulty a shot

This game is a must for Metal Gear fans. Especially if you played MGS1 to 3. The ending is great and tied a lot of loose ends (including explaining Liquid Ocelot).

Yeah, I know but that's not earning the emblem. =P You can even get the Patriot now through password =P I'm in the middle of my third run doing a crap run trying to get all the bs Emblems that are "hard" to get because no one dies 51+ times and continues in this game... lol let alone play for 35+ hours throughout the entire game.. *sigh*...

Off topic... Quistis, you're married?! Wow... it's been a while haha... Congratulations =P

lol yeah, got married last June. Gonna have a big wedding in the Philippines with my family this Feb.

Patriot gun via a password? wow. I actually just finished getting the stealth and bandana by farming drebin points in the Middle East Downtown area =D. I also got the Laughing Octopus face camo if you don't kill her via lethal means. I kinda stopped playing a bit because I got dragged into WoW again >_>

I killed over a thousand enemies through farming. So I'll definitely get the emblems that requires killing ppl a lot and getting discovered =P.

Lol damn... so what you got Crocodile, and Cow? lol Maybe Giant Panda if you take longer than 30 hours to beat the game.. =P Though if on that same run you get more that 150 Alert Phases, more than 500 kills (which you did =P ) more than 50 continues, take longer than 35 hours to complete, eat more than 50 healing items, get more than 10 combat highs, pick up 400+ weapons, which I'm sure you've done too, lol, spend 60+ minutes in a box or drum can, 60+ mins prone, jump or roll to the side 200+ times, perform 100+ forward rolls, spend 60+ mins against a wall, scan or inject 50+ PMCs, perform 50+ body searches, get praised by the militia 25+ times, give militia 50+ rations, perform 150+ headshots, and choke 100+ PMCs you too can get 22/40 of the emblems in one run! lol

I recently just finished this run bout a week ago, but I only got 20/22 of the said Emblems, just needed to jump to the side and give the militial 50+ rations, but I didn't have that many.. =T So maybe in the run after my Big Boss Emblem attempt lol. ^^;;

Started the run late on Thursday night, and have done an act a day since then pretty much. Currently at the beginning of Act 4, man Act 3 was a pain in the ass on BBE... Well, here's to a soon to be BBE. xD *crosses fingers*
