"Mario + Sonic in the Olympic Games" Officially Announced OMFG!

Yeah I have to say I didn't see this coming. It's an OFFICIAL Olympic game (as in officially licensed by the International Sports Multimedia) With Mario and Sonic characters. Also development will be by Sonic Team supervised by Miyamoto. And no, I feel like it could also be an April Fools Joke, but Sega has an official site for it and everything.

The news is already all over IGN and other gaming sites so I don't think its a joke. This is really cool, two of the oldest and fiercest rivals in gaming history are coming together to compete and since it's in a competition game it's a perfect match.

Hehe.....IGN even asked them if that makes it more possible to bring Sonic to SSB:Brawl....

I saw Cyrus post something similar to this in the Nintendo Worshipper's Club as well but this is something I didn't see coming. This is something interesting to look at when its coming out. The Olympic games says it all. It looks like they're going to compete in running, swimming, table tennis, etc. I wonder how this game will be though. I'm somewhat hyped for it, but its just a little weird for some reason.

Why do I get the feeling that play balancing is either going to make sonic a lot slower or mario a lot faster?

But seriously, this one looks fun, and if it does take off, who knows, maybe we will get sega characters in SSB games. Think about it, Sega is only doing the games now right?, they dropped out of the console race. I can only pray.....

I know how you feel, I mean I'm still getting over this "April Fools" feeling.

But apparently, Sega got the rights to make an Olympic game quite some time ago, and they're having their sports developers handle this game. And according to this interview Miyamoto is giving this game more attention then he usually does for games. Personally, as a fan of Wii Sports, I really like to think this a spirited and expanded sequel with more star power.

Also about the SSB thing, a lot of fans are theorizing that this is a "trade" deal. As in Sega asked Nintendo for using their characters while Nintendo says "Sure just let us use Sonic in Brawl"

Though thew only thing I'm wondering is if it's going to be wacky like the other Mario Sports games or if it's going to be more straight forward realism.
