Mario or Sonic?

I say that Mario and Sonic are equal. Cause, paper mario and Super mario rpg is good, Same as sonic.

omg omg omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this topic is so hard because both games are old school yet both games have recently been ressurected from the dead by the newer game systems.for example the new super mario bros. for the nintendo ds is raw and one of the best games i have ever played yet the sonic riders and shadow games were kick ****ing ass too.i also agree with sharzademar about the fact that a small guy with a awesome mustache that is running around saying mamamia is mind blowing,and you cant get any 2d than the origanal mario bros. both will live to its legend to the apocalypse but i do think mario is a little bit overrated and i dont think we here enough from the sonic games. i will have to side with them both.

of course mario is better it's just way funner than sonic... I mean sonic games are fun and all but it get old and it's all the same thing...

Postal... I love you for your response to Nintendo fans being a "mindless mob" (and I've noted that that was supposed to be sarcasm, Akira ) However, My final decision in this matter differs from yours.

I choose Mario. He just means more to me. I grew up with both him and Sonic; Mario with the video games, and Sonic primarily with the Archie Comic series (my favorite comic ever) and to a smaller extent, Sonic's video games (which I played at my cousin's house.)

However, I've always found Mario games to be much more enjoyable than the Sonic games. The Sonic games, in my opinion, just don't measure up the comics at all. Particularly for the story line of the comics (except for the storylin in the comic of like the last two years or so before the beginning of this year.) The storyline of the main Mario games generally aren't much better than Sonic's...

...however, I find the gameplay of the Mario games much more fun (and controllable; I suck at Sonic games. Probably a big part of the reason why I like Mario games better.) Aside from that, Mario games' levels tend to have more variety in them than a Sonic game's. In Sonic games, most of the time you are running forward, and you jump at key moments or whatnot. If you deviate too much from a certain pattern, you will die. In Mario, however, you are given a bit more room for error. You also are often given several different routes to complete a level, and several ways to defeat your enemy. And I'm even thinking more about the NES/SNES era than the N64/GC era. I've never played Super Mario 64, but I really really want to. I've more or less played every Sonic game, and aside from the switch from 2D to 3D, they don't really feel that different to me.

In deviation from the main series, Mario also beats Sonic (does Sonic really have that many games that deviate from the main series?) Super Mario RPG, Mario Kart, and the Paper Marios are all some of my favorite games.

So yeah. I like Mario better. I also think I like Yoshi better than... Knuckles, I guess would be the parallel there. I don't know about Luigi over Tails, however...

Sonic can run at the speed of sound.

Think about that.............. as the speed of SOUND people. Mario can't compete with that.

Sonic can run across walls and he can bash through sement. And if he goes Super Sonic oooooooooooh man. Stuff will blow up.

I suck at both games so, my vote goes to Mario because that guy can ride a dinosaur and turn big. Can't get more demanding that that. =]

Haha I answered to a thread with the exact same question on another forum I visit. I voted for Sonic because I really enjoyed the Sonic games when I was younger since I had a Mega Drive. I used to rent the games a lot, I don't own any of the games which really sucks. Those games were really enjoyable. I never really played and Mario games.. I have one for gameboy but it's not the best. Sonic is an awesome little guy.

I choose Mario. I dunno, Mario games are just better than Sonics IMO. I could play the old school Mario games over and over, but with Sonic, I get bored so fast in his games, unless its with the debug code or something, like in Sonic 2, oh yes, good times.

Anyway, Mario is just better, I just never cared for the Sonic games.

I love sonic games better because theres just more action to me.

And I just love the high speed action, going really really fast is just fun.

Mario games are ok to but I think the Sonic games a better. But thats just me.

It's kind of hard to decide... Both of them have so many abilities and powerups... Sonic best thing is turning Super and he's really strong when he's like that... But Mario has that star that makes him Invincible and many other things...

Sonic is my favorite superhero hes fast, talks cool and i love his atitude, plus hes way faster than Mario theres no way mario can get him with that racoon tail or his tool kit .
