Baldurs Gate II (game progress and general) - UNMARKED SPOILERS

I know for a fact people are still playing this and so am I

I love this game, and my party has just been re-arranged;
Imoen and Nalia was lost in the Underdark so they have been replaced by Aerie and Aeomen (or however he's his name is spelled)
Aeomen was just now replaced by Xan a elvish enchanter and finally Cernd was replaced by Jan since I desperately needed a thiefso now my party looks like this (note:1 fighter except for Jan)

Thuulsa Doom my main, human necromancer Lv.20 chaotic evil
Korgan Dwarven berserker Lv.18
Viconia Drow cleric Lv.18
Aerie Winged elf mage Lv.11, cleric Lv.10
Xan elf enchanter Lv.13 (downloaded as a modpack)
Jan Jansen gnome illutionist/thief Lv.11 (ill), Lv.12 (thief)

I have many low-level characters now because Minsc got left behind at spellhold Valygar, Jaheira and Yoshimo is dead.

Last party to kill Irenicus:

Kensai Fighter
Valygar
Minsc
Korgan
Aerie
Imoen

Having Aerie in your party is similar to having Korgan in mine. The conflicting views have never lead to internal battles for me though.

As for Anomen, I never had him in my party - if you want a paladin then get Keldorn. Also, Anomen will intervene in your romance with Aerie, and possibly others but I am not sure. With Aerie you'll end up having to fight Anomen, forcing Aerie to leave, something else which makes them both leave and the final option which is the extremely nice thing to do that makes Aerie stay in your party. I only read about this, hence, the lack of details.

Minsc is such a great tank and Valygar is brilliant. I consider Valygar to be a close third, behind my fighter and Aerie. His poison Wazakashi and armour are useful for being coupled with Korgan to take down monsters quickly; I have Minsc tank for the Kensai Fighter.

I'm surprised you let characters die. If someone in my party does I reload straight away. It meant fighting the Mind Flayers in the Underdark quite annoying, which is why I always opted for getting the Elder Beholder's blood for the Drow ritual, rather than trekking through the Kuo-Tao's (spelling?) dungeon. After all, there's an Elder Beholder right at the beginning of the Beholder cavern. I never got the cloak that reflected spells, but I imagine the fighter wearing that would own the Beholders. My friend said you get it in the Underwater City.

I've written enough for now.

Great!! someone posted

Ok look.
Firstly I'm going for an evil party I got Korgan, Viconia, Xan and my chaotic evil main. And when characters die I usually ressurect them but I got sick of Jaheira (plus she was under Ployer's curse at the time and thus died after each ressurection attempt.

I'm starting to pay now for not ressurecting the dead NPC's as the list is quite the long one now

Yoshimo
Jaheira
Imoen
Valygar
And Nalia.

Thats 3 thiefs LOL and Jan is the last one.

As for Anomen, he's not longer in my party I just hired him until I could find somebody else (WHERE THE HELL IS EDWIN????) I looked all over Mae Var's but I simply can't find him, I have only used him on ToB.

Your party seems good, but you seem to rely more on fighter classes than me, I have mostly spellcasters in my parties.

Note: The cloak that reflects spells is easy to get, if you still are playing I can tell you more detailed but it's simply dropped by a rebel in Sahuagin city.^^

And the Beholder's blood quest, Imoen and Nalia got imprisoned by the elder and I didn't know what happened to them at the time but unless you have the Shield of Balduran use extreme caution fighting them

Thats it for now.... more to come.

It's been such a long time since I saw Edwin. This is roughly what I remember: when you kill everyone in the other guild Edwin should be hanging around somewhere. Talk to him and he'll say he will party up with you if you meet him in the Copper Coronet. If you refuse to let him into your party at the Copper Coronet he'll leave forever. Or, if you refuse to let him in your party in Mae'Var he'll leave forever. I'm having difficulty remembering.

I prefer fighters because of the high health and the ability to tank while my two spell casters pull off the higher level spells that take longer to cast. Otherwise they'll just get hit and the spell will be wasted.

Elder Beholders are easy. Before you enter the cavern cast: Defensive Harmony, Chant, Haste and any other protective spells you may have, those are the main ones for me. I put two Magic Missiles into the Minor Sequencer for Aerie and then enter the cavern with my whole party. As it loads I hit spacebar so the game is paused the moment the screen loads. I tell my Fighter and Minsc to attack on Beholder, Korgan and Valygar on the other. Aerie uses Minor Sequencer while Imonen uses magic missile. Once all magic missiles have been cast I pause and cast some more. Beholder's don't have a lot of health and they will die quite quickly. Also, I have the Vorpal Sword (perhaps called Silver Sword also?), the Larlicor which gives Mind Shield (protection from charm, domination and the like) and the Impaler. That spear which may or may not be +5, I'm pretty sure it is though. The Mind Shield is brilliant.

The other guild? are you refering to the shadow thiefs? or the one in Mae'Var basement?

I see why you like fighters, I do too. But a necromancer can summon deadly creatures like a skeleton warrior, with all it's immunities also the Dark Planetar have imunities.

Here's my main characters items

Mage Robe of Fire Resistance
Bracers of Defence AC6
Amulet of Power
Ring of Regeneration
Ring of Human Influence
Cloak of Mirroring
Boots of Etherealness
Cleric's staff +3
And several different wands like Wand of Frost, lightning etc.

Mostly I fight like this *auto-pause enemy seen* I tell Viconia to raise dead, my main to summon dark planetar. Maybe get some of the others to cast some spells and I send Korgan ahead.

I continue with another raise dead or two and if there's trouble brewing I cast timestop+horrid wilting

That OWNS

But I can't go on like that forever without rest and I had problems with that, luckily my main has 3 scrollcases as backup

EDIT: MUAHAHAHA I have Edvin now. YAY!! And I'm thinking about who to replace...
I really need Jan, he's the only thief left in the game, I think Aerie is the one to go...

It has been awhile since I have played Baldur's Gate II, but I remember my character. Ever tried playing a Bard? Or any kind of Bard Kit, really. I do believe mine was Skald, and they are pretty neat. I have him duel wielding the Equalizer and the... I forget the other one. It is the katana you get from the guarded house in the Temple District. Sun.. something, I think. It is glorious.

My NPCs probably went something like this:

Bard (Me!) - Because I can't really.. not have me.
Minsc - He is strong as hell and I have always had him in my party. I gave him the talking two-handed sword and he is golden. Plus, he goes for the eyes with Boo.
Jaheira - She annoys the piss out of me, but I haven't ever gotten the heart to actually tell her to go to hell. I keep her around mostly because she is a decent fighter and she can summon some good things. I like to summon.
Aerie - Mostly for the romance, but she is a decent mage/cleric.
Viconia - I wanted to do the romance for her, but I was already with Aerie by the time I got her, so I just got her because she is amazing with the healing.
Yoshimo, then Imoen - I don't really like either of them, and it disappoints me that there aren't really a lot of decent thieves in the game. But she worked good enough.

I am a reckless player when it comes to Baldur's Gate. I give my main character the Boots of Haste and then a Cloak of Mirroring, or whatever it is called, and then I sent him, by himself, into the depths of the Beholder's Dwelling in the Underdark. It took me a few relods, but he ended up doing a pretty good job. When things got tough, I usually summoned some little guys to help distract the Elder Orbs from him. Cloak of Mirroring is a must if you are going to do it though, as it lowers(or even cancels) out the chance they have of petrifying you, I guess. Reflects back magic, or some such. You can still die though ^_^;;

And on the topic of Edwin.. eh. He is a great magic user, but he is way too cocky and annoying for me. The only real reason I put up with him is for his side quest. Which is both entertaining and hilarious. If you haven't ever done it, I suggest it. It involves the Graveyard District, a Book, and... haha. Well, you can figure that out for yourself if you haven't yet accomplished it.

I was somewhat disappointed with the Irenicus fight. Then again, my characters may have been a tad overpowered. But oh well. I still have yet to beat, or even get very far, in the expansion. Maybe I'll do that today after work, who knows.

First of all Rikku, Baldur's Gate II for PC must not under any circumstances be confused with BG for PS2.

SoA with ToB expansion is totally different. With that said, BG II SoA and ToB is one of the best RPG's ever made you have to try it and see for yourself really but if you have played Diablo 2, it's sortof similar

Since I'm a nice guy here's a link to the Bioware site, check out game features and such. I am sure you would find it interesting

Infact the game is one of the reasons I own a computer in the first place.

Yeah I know. But I hate BG for PC, maybe you'd like it though.. Who knows but it's not a game I'd tell people to buy, I'd rather tell them to back off.

You haven't played BG for PC so you might like it but if you want BG and you want a great game go for Baldur's Gate II the collection, it contains both SoA and ToB plus you can download MOD packs like quests and new characters.

YAY! Baldurs Gate OWNS
I even like it more than Diablo 1 and 2.^^

Baulder's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal is the second installment of the Baulder's Gate series for the PC. The crappy Dark Alliance games were made way after BGII.

Frig DV now I'm lookin' for all the discs so I can install it. I could never get very far into the game because I would get caught up in all the sidequests and either die or just loose interest. Once I find the bloody third disc and get back into it I'll tell you my progress.

I remember getting to spell hold and I started turning into the Slayer, that's as far as I got.

I usually am either a theif or bard. I had one awesome undead hunter once too. Argh! I've got to go find that third disc. Ahahahaha found it!
