Dynasty Warriors series.

First things first. This is a game series BUT, it is based on the writing of a novel called 'The Romance of the Three Kingdoms'. ( Name may be moderately incorrect). It centres on three feuding,feudal factions. Shu,Wu and Wei as they battle for control of China and it;s provinces.

Now onto the game.
This is one of by favourite pick up and play games around, it's a rare one where you can spend a quick half hour massacaring hundreds of troops,and still ,feel like you made some difference to the games course.
It also has a great storyline based as I said before on a novel, this leads to some very interesting plot twists and also battles. One of my personal favourites, being Zhang Liao's conversation with Guan Yu upon him leaving.

The characters as they are based on real people, are not just one dimensional brute killing machines. They were real people and have real stories to tell, and fascinating different perspectives on the battles and moral points of them. Also there is a handy list of the generals, and the timeline of battles included as to understand better the battles.

I feel this is a massively underlooked series. Sure in Japan it sells about 3million copies in ten minutes, however away from there sales I hear are not so good, which is a true shame.



Also bosses are done well in a way that really forces you to think around them.With the occasional unbalanced one thrown in ( LU BU), so you can't just massacare them and waltz on. And though the normal soldiers are no great shake there far from cannon fodder.



To summarise this i feel it is a fantastic game that everyone should try once.

These are good games, My favorite of the games were the Empire ones, (5 is the better one.)

I have only ever played 4. But I must say I really enjoyed it! I remember makeing bodyguards named Chikky Wa My made up white bloke was excellent with his giant sword. I had a blast killing the officers. I am thinking of buyin the 5th. Is there any differences to it? Or is it same places and characters?

I have loved this serious for a long time. I have played from #2-5 and also played the first two Kessens, which are based off of the same novel and the DW games. I have many favorite characters but over all is Zhou Tai, he is just awsome and in #4 I believe he gets to wear a mask that makes him look like the Shredder from Ninja Turtles. He is good on foot and on horseback. Favorite Wei character would have to be Cao Pi from #4. His double bladed sword that splits into two swords is awsome and his speed, when maxed out, is almost unmatched. (Exception of a selcet few other charaters.) Favorite Shu character... Probly Zhou Yun... maybe Pang Tong. I dont know, that is a pretty ballanced group. Now besides Zhou Tai of second favorite has to be Lu Bu. Raw power encarnate. I know it is very unoriginal of me but Max him out and even the most difficult levels get a whole lot easier, on any level of difficulty. And Xou Ci(Sp?), i feel like I should remember his name better but oh well. I love this character. For massive kills over a HUGE area this is your man. he is only playable in #4 and 5 and man is it worth it to get him. The most hardcore wizard ever to grace this game and tied for first fav with Zhou Tai. My friend still cant beat my Rampage record from when I used him.

I do not like playing the Extreme Legends editions of the games, it confuses me. And I have been wanting to play #5(non-Extreme Legends) and Empires very badly. Empires is supposed to be awosme.

Favorite battle ground... I dont really have one. For just flat out fighting I roll with the Rampage/Survival Challenge games. The people just keep coming and it is fun.

Dynasty warriors is one of the longest going and best game series i have ever played. It could even rival Final Fantasy but i don't wnat to push it that far.

Anyway i have played them since Dynasty warriors 2 and i've always loved them. Not just for the sheer amount of people you get to kill on each level but the amount of detail they put into each character is just amazing. I only own one Dynasty warriors game since i used to borrow them off my cousin and he owns almost all of them. Anyway the one i own is Dynasty warriors 4 empires and it is my favorite one so far since it is more stratergy based. I'm planning on getting empires 5 for christmas so i don't have long to wait for that.

As for my favourite things off the game heres my list:

Favourite fraction- Wu. I like Wu for mulitply reason but the main one is that i like most of the generals it has within its army.

Favourite character- Zhou tai. This guy is just the best dynasty warriors character ever and i have slain entire armies single handed with him. When ever i am Zhou tai i rarely, if ever, lose. Also his weapon is another good factor about him. although he isn't a samurai since there japanese, he is close to one. My favorite weapon with him is his level 11 one off empires which is Setsuna.

Favourite battleground- He Fei. This place is just so cool. I love everyting about this place from all dynasty warriors. The best time to fight here is when you get to go to the castle.

Fantastic game, great if you just wanna let off some steam with mindless violence, love it I really do, I have brought every single one so far and I`m up to number 5 (extreme legends also).

This is a great series to play when you have a bunch of friends over and you need something to do. I only get to play them when the person that does own it brings it over. We try to complete all of the missions and build up her characters. It's fun. I just have fun getting rid of the enemy's officers, slashing all the baddies in my path. *grin* But then...the friends get scared and try to take the controller away from me. XD;

As for characters....well....I don't get to play them long enough to really get to know the characters...and I end up using whichever I think has the best stats ^^
