New Super Mario Brothers

So yeah, I just picked this up today and played the up to the first mini castle and one step beyond.

My god it's so lovely. I stopped playing because my thumb started bleeding (literally, that's another story) but from what I played I really like it so far.

I have one main question.
Is it really simply called New Super Mario brothers?. Or does it have a tagline like defenders of the mushroom kingdom?.
Also how does it play. what's the difficulty like. any interesting new features?.
I'm not a fan of these games normally, but this one looks interesting.

From what I recall, it's the original Super Mario Brothers game with updated, 3D graphics, and some new twists and such, right? Like I remember a screen shot with a giant Mario going across the high Mushroom stage, or something.

This is for DS, right? If I had a DS, I'd probably play it; looks cool.

DS, yes.

It's not a remake of the first SMB, but it took a page out of their book.

Bowser Jr. is the one who stole Peach this time, vs Bowser actually doing it. World 1-1 was a lot like the original (Not as much so as the World 1-1 mini game you play in Paper Mario on the GCN as a side-thing)

The game is literally called New Super Mario Brothers. No tagline, no subname, nothing. I'll take a picture of the box later.

I have a rather nasty cut on my thumb so I'm unable to really play, but being incapacitated I was able to clear up to the first mini castle (For those who've played any Mario before you know what that means) without too much difficulty. I'm sure, like other Mario games, it'll get harder in later levels.

The 3D graphics are nice, and the new gameplay mechanics like the super mushroom, then spinning to do a slow fall, and a few other things make this a pretty fun game so far.

Dang, now i want a DS. But New Super Mario Brothers? What kind of name is that. They could at least make it sound less cheesy. Like Super Mario Brothers 3-D! Ha Ha.

I like the name, personally. It's quick, simple, and tells exactly what it is, a new side scrolling mario game! What's nto to love!?

It's not really to my taste. I'm not really into platformers, although I must say, I've played much worse.

I tired the New Super Mario Bros. game on my little sister DS and I was pretty impressed with the graphics and the gameplay was great. I still like the original Super Mario Bros. game on my Nintendo compared to the New Super Mario Bros. though. You can't beat the original.

Wow, this thread was buried pretty deep. Oh well, might as well give my contribution to it then.

I played through the game, completing the story, not every level since the world map (in which you choose the level) is not linear and you can choose your path. The story is not really that good but not bad either. I mean, Peach is kidnapped: go save her.
The graphics are really good, for a 3D DS title that is.
The sound is also awesome with some old tunes remixed while also adding some new themes.
The replay value is pretty much that of other Mario games, which means high. This might depend of course in whether you're a platformer fan or not.

There isn't a lot in terms of innovation in the title. It brings together a few elements from both the oldschool 2D sidescrollers and the "new & improved" 3D Mario games and a couple different mushrooms that don't really matter much/aren't very impressive. I don't like platformers as a rule generally, but if you're going to go with one, I guess Mario's a safe bet...But I think I'd rather try to play Megaman ZX...hmmmm...Overall: Just good enough.
