2005 is somewhat a dark year for the video game community. One reason is the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Hot Coffee incident. That is what I will remember most about electronic gaming from 2005, for I am opposed to electronic game censorship. Because of that, several games have been slapped with pre-release controversy. Politicians have been calling for laws to restrict or regulate the sale of video games. Grand Theft Auto III revived the electronic game controversy, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas emphasized the controversy.
The Nintendo Revolution controller announcement is another thing that I will remember most about electronic gaming from 2005. The Nintendo Revolution controller is an attempt to close the generational divide, in terms of demographics, in electronic gaming. The controller may affect the gameplay in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Revolution, the game I want my favorite Nintendo character ever, who is from a Japan-only Super Famicom game, to be playable in. |

I am very glad you listed the Revolution controller. That, for me, was probably at the top of my list, though everything you listed is certainly memorable. The very idea of the remote control was a shocker to the gaming world, making even some die-hard Nintendo fans weary. Me, I was a little surprised to hear it, and wasn't fond of the idea at first, but was by no means weary myself. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how insanely cool this controller could be. Nintendo has (generally) led the race of innovations for years. In a year where Sony and Microsoft are re-hashing their systems with some different hardware, Nintendo is going off the wall and doing something else entirely.
We're one step away from Nintendo reintroducing VR helmets... except, this time, they won't suck.

I went with Just playing great electronic games and having fun. More specifically, games such as Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits Von Gut Und Bose, Radiata Stories, Dragon Quest VIII, and the Xbox ports of Doom 3/Ressurection of Evil and Half-Life 2.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was temporarily rerated AO for Adults Only. Major retailers refuse to sell AO-rated electronic games. That resulted in a financial loss for Rockstar Games, the company that is constantly under political fire.

Haha, aw, man... I'm not sure whether to laugh at you or feel sorry for you.
You do bring up a good point though. Solitaire and solo-player virtual card games are incredibly addictive. Some people, such as my mother, can waste hours upon hours playing various forms of Solitaire. Not to say that you're like my mother or anything, I'm just using her as an example because she does it all the freaking time. Sometimes I get lost in a good compy puzzle game, myself.

I'm gonna say Revolution controller cuz well I don't remember much else. I didn't crap my pants or make creme in my drawers when I heard about it but I mean it was cool to see them doing something different like that. I'm definately more excited about it now than I was then. Maybe I've been living in a cave, but can someone tell me the San Andreas coffee incident? Or at least throw a link at me or something? I never played that game, by the way. After Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City I kind of lost the urge to steal cars and shoot people, then do missions that I didn't have enough time to complete.

Are we talking about releases/announcements that were introduced in the year 2005? Or things that were new to us from last year? Heh. The only game from 2005 I got all year was Star Fox: Assault (the only game to come out on the Game Cube; FUCK Metal of Honor, or whatever game it was that SA person awarded "Only game to come out on the GC of 2005.") Assault was okay. It was fairly fun. I don't know if I like the fact that I bought it brand new, and therefore spent $50 on it (maybe I should've waited until it became "player's choice," or something) but it was entertaining.
The Revolution Controller was interesting, as well. I'm still not sure what I make of it. I'm not particularly good at aiming... However, it looks cool... ...kind of... I also remember the XBox 360 being released and everybody going crazy about getting one, but I didn't really care about that. The PS3 already came out, though? Or did I just read the poll wrong? Anyway, the biggest event in video game playing, for me, from last year, was when I started playing Super Smash Bros Melee. Fox McCloud secured his spot as my favorite video game character ever with that game. At least for a few years... Wuv, Yer Mom

A month after I started playing Super Smash Bros. Melee, Marth stole Luigi's spot as my favorite Nintendo character. There is a big chance that his spot as my favorite Nintendo character will be stolen again in Super Smash Bros. Revolution.
