"uh, sir. I would like my X-box 360" "I'm sorry m'am we're sold out"

That was me in Best Buy, trying to pick up a X-box 360, which I pre-ordered at 2:30pm yesterday, the day it came out. Then I went around my town looking for places to buy one and every store in town was SOLD OUT. Talk about popularity. Does anybody else have the same problem where they live? If so, do you think the X-box 360 shortage was caused by not enough supply or way, way, way, too much demand? Do you think the price of the 360 will go up due to this?

The set store price won't change.

The supply is never enough for opening day of any video game system.

It was the same story for the Nintendo 64 back when it was released, my dad went all over the city trying to find me one for Christmas that year. The Playstation 2 and Gamecube had the same on their opening days.

The price will stay the same, the stores will be restocked eventually.

I can tell this is your first system launch, isn't it? I knew a guy who camped out to get a Nintendo Gamecube on it's release, and you can bet your ass I'll be doing it for a Revolution.

I went into Wal-Mart the night before the release, for reasons other than buying a shitty Microsoft system, and there was a line leading from layaway all the way up to the entrance with a sign that said "XBOX 360 waiting line." Wal-Mart wasn't even going to bother putting them on the shelves, just selling them right out of the back of the store. It's normal and to be expected when it comes to the release of systems.

Nahh. I've never really seen this even when the PS2 was sold. I bought mine 2 days after release they were still there. Same for X-Box..I had bought mine 1 day after release. But I mean 2:00 on the day of release. Thats just stupid.

The 360 nothing special anyway, waiting a couple weeks for the next shipment will not be that bad.

Our Best Buy on Tuesday had a line out of the parking lot almost at like an hour before the store opened. I figure a lot of those people went home unhappy customers, including the people that thought about waiting a few hours. Both the Best Buy and Wal-mart was pretty busy. Though it was not so bad in the evening at Wal-mart, probably because the stock was gone.

Depending on the shipping times Microsoft has, you may wait between two days and a week. Best Buy normally gets shipments in I think two times a week, the most common day is Tuesday, everything gets released on Tuesday these days. So check back on Monday or Friday of this week to see what is going on.

Personally, the line up isn't that great, you are not missing out on anything waiting a few extra days or weeks on it. Think of it this way, you are saving 500 dollars, because I doubt you are just buying a system to stare at, you are getting a game or two.

Thats usually how it goes for system releases. I remeber when the 64 came out like sean said, there were none to be found. Unlike the 360, the 64 was worth waiting in line for, it was an entirely new console that blew everything out of the water. Now, most pc gamers have systems that blow the 360 out of the water.

Wait a few weeks, even a few months. Game selection will be better, and blockbuster will start carrying the machines so you can test before you buy.

I read on gamespot some of those toaster things were going for $3000 on ebay...personally, I'd rather wait for a price of a new-fangled console to drop or share the cost with my bro or something. It's a lot of money, and games and everything next to it...

Grr...I hate people like your friend. They buy 5 so they can sell for a profit. Its selfish and greedy, especially for the people who wait on line trying to get 1, but they can't, and then you see this person walk out with 5 *shakes head*. Even if its smart business sense, its just gluttonous.

I'm sorry, but $3000 is a little under 8 times the amount they were sold for. I mean really. It just angers me so.

I have to disagree with that. You may not be an FPS nut, but for those of us who are Perfect Dark Zero and Quake 4 (which includes a remake of Quake II) are good enough reasons to buy the system, especially the former. I hate to say it, but this headstart and the fact that all good FPS games will be on Microsoft's console will probably make the Xbox 360 the best game system of all time.

Best game system of all time...my we are giving the 360 a lot of credit. A console is nothing without good games. The X Box was a bad system because it had terrible games, and the 360 will be terrible if it has bad games. And there is nothing impressive right now. And having the market on one genre does not make a console great, having variety and a good solid game on all genre makes a great console. That is why the PS2 is the best console, and the PS3 will still be the best, Sony knows how to get things done right, something Microsoft still fails at. FPS are the end all of gaming, they are merely an American favorite, and considering the Japanese market is equal or larger, and even more fanatical than people who say they are hardcore gamers here. That is the market that controls gaming, X Box failed in Japan, and failed overall because of it.

Trev, sorry, but PC > XBOX 360 for the FPS market. BY FAR.

And nothing beats the good old mouse and keyboard setup for an FPS. It's so much more control than an analog controller can give.

There's no way in hell the 360 will be the best game system of all time just because it corners the market in a genre that will always be infinitly better on PC.

Plus with the way the new Nintendo controller is looking, I'm thinking you can bet your ass the Revolution is going to have some sweet ass FPS support if it's used properly.

Besides which, why would you want to spend $500 on a video game system just for two games? Seriously, that's just dumb.

I've been hearing about that too. Personally I just want the X-box 360 just to try it out you know. Lord knows the only game i ever play on X-box is Halo 2 and thats it. PS2 owns X-box by a long shot. Gamecube owns X-box by a long shot. I just can't wait until the PS3 is out. I'm guessing it'll own X-box 360 by a long shot. You know it would be funny if they make Halo for PS3...that would screw them for life. and i'll be laughing. Its amazing how fast a crappy console sells for...people paying ****ing $3000 for it....

You're giving Sony way too much credit yourself. Right now they're having alot of hurdles to come over, and they've restructured their whole company to revolve around the PS3 and PSP (due to a few hits they've taken in the last year). They're going to be in the red more than anyone else because CELL alone costed about 1.6 BILLION to research. Not to mention the PS2 only took such a big jump in the system race because they released a year before any other system. Not to mention the PS3 has some Danger spots for the system itself (I.E Melting, Higher Price Risk, Blu-Ray being a Non-Standard Format). The PS2 isn't best system. The best in some things, but not all.

Its the Best in Sales and 3rd party support. It isn't the best in Online play, Graphics, and 1st party games. You can't just say "This system is the best" because thats being biased. Especially because the PS3 isn't out yet. It may be the best to you, but thats only you're opinion. Thats the most anyone can get in the system war.

The PSP is a prime example. It can do so much, but the Nintendo DS is running circles around it. Animal Crossing has already exceded Nintendogs (Dogs selling 135,000 copies in the first week while AC made 350,000 copies in its first).

What annoys me about the console wars is that people leap to Sony just because its sytem sold the most. People don't seem to realize Sony overpirces everything and their products are crap. I was looking at T.V.s a few days ago and Sony had one that was $3000 more than a few non-Sony brands and you know what? Those T.V's were way better in quality of image, price, warenty, and practically everything else.

Everyone hates X-box and its funny because alot of people don't even know why. The PS2 and Nintendo Fan boys only listen to the stupid X-box fan boys (OMG HAlo 2 best FPS EVAR), but when one comes along with actual information and statistics on all 3 systems they shut up. Sony fans are for the most part elitests.

Right now the PS3 looks to cost over $650 to make. If you count the $500 dollar graphic card and the blu-ray drive, thats alot of money right there. X-box 360 costs $470 before assembly. And the system retails for $400 (with $100 worth of perephrials). The PS3 might not even come with a hard-drive! Even worse, for its japanese release next spring, there won't be too many more systems on release than the 360's.

When the PSP was released since it was so "Powerful" they had trouble making a ton of systems. What was it, like 1,000 a day or some crap. Now think of a system so intricate like the PS3. 7 processors in the CELL, Blu-Ray, usb drives (supposedly there are a ton of different connectors and stuff). Think of how long and much it'll cost them. And the PSP ended up failing hardcore because of its price (which probably won't see a drop because Sony said it's new marketing strategy is to not drop the price). Consider yourself lucky to live in America and see a summer or fall release.

Even more, the X-Box 360 is having heating problems, even with its dual fans and huge power supply. The 360 and its power supply needs to be put in a nice area free of heat restrictions. It only has 3 processors. Now imagine the PS3, the huge system with all that shit inside (Blu-ray laser is hotter than a standard DVD laser). Now whose got the problems? Not to mention that with all those mini processors developers won't want to code for all 7, but the 7 processors are meant to take the pressure off eachother, so if a developer cuts corners (and lets face this generation and next its been happening alot) have fun buying a $400+ system to have it melt.

On the marketing side, Microsoft has way more skill than Sony. Look at the hype for Halo 2 and the 360. Hell Sony's marketing can't even compete.

Seriously, PS3 won't be taking first. Second yes, but even Nintendo is showing it might have something to say with a free online service and low price. With huge 3rd party support, a TON of hype, and killer apps like Halo 3, Gears of War, and the chance of Final Fantasy coming to it, the 360 will probably be first this time around.

SO SUCK ON THIS YOU ****NIG FANBOYS. Sorry had to say it. I hear people giving Microsoft shit 24/7 and no one seems to know the facts. I own all three systems and if people want to take sides then I should just say I'm the best fan because I own all three for their strengths.
