Only recently completed Pearl myself. I've been hanging around Victory Road both training and hatching my Eevee eggs. I kind of... didn't want to complete it because after I do complete games, I get bored of playing them after that. Couldn't help myself in the end though - I had to find out who the champion was. XD

If you can go up to the battle area, all the pokemon are stronger than the ones at Victory Road but weak enough that they shouldn't be a Challenge. I took my Gardevoir up there and it was my lowest level pokemon at 57 now its my highest at 68 only from a few trainer battles.

Though it does get kind of boring once you've done most of the stuff, right now I'm just completing my deck but because I don't have a copy of R/S/E I I have to go the long way to go. Unfortunately most of it is evolving; I couldn't catch a Weezing for some reason but my party wasn't prepared for a 2nd dose of the E4.

I don't find collecting the Pokedex boring at all. Maybe i'm a little strange but I enjoy looking at my Pokedex and seeing how many I have caught. Although I prefer catching them to evolving them. It is nice to have every Pokemon and that those Pokemon are legit. I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to legit Pokemon. But yeah it's nice to be able to choose what Pokemon you want to EV train from a bunch of them.
