Resident Evil 4 for PS2

Only a few more days, RE fans! Resident Evil 4 will be available for the PS2 on October 25th. There are upsides and downsides to this.

Let's start with the negative.

Cons

- Downgraded graphics

Now, from what I understand, it's not too bad. So don't expect blocky crap from the PS2 version. I've seen it mostly described as kind of "muddy".

Pros

- New costumes for Leon and Ashley

- A new game mode called "Separate Ways" featuring Ada and four new missions. There are also new CG scenes.

- True anamorphic widescreen display

- New weapons such as the P.R.L. 412 (Plagas Removal Laser 412)

- Price will be set at $40 for the game

It's good to see that they brought Resident Evil 4 back home to Playstation. Though this does anger me a bit considering I bought the limited edition (Gamecube) version of the game, which came in a tin with a few other things. It wouldn't bother me so much if I actually owned a Gamecube.

Eh, I'll go out on a limb for Resident Evil any day.

OMG! I didn't know that at all...gamespot didn't give it much praise...but I must have it! Is it coming out for Europe too?

Also, I read Resident Evil 5 will be coming out for PS3 and Xbox360...which induces joy and mild nausea.

<_< That picture of the guy in a pile of syringes is a turn-on...

I already have the GCN version of RE4, but I do plan on at least renting the PS2 version just to see how it stacks up. Plus I want to see if I can unlock the '30s-style gangster outfit for Leon, since I have seen pictures and it is HOT. O_O

The PS2 make of Resi 4 is actually quite good.

I havent played it first on but there was an in-depth review on Gamer-TV a day or so back - and its pretty damn sweet from what I saw. Instead of Zombies for a change its normal people you are shooting up, fun! Atleast the blood will be properly coloured this time. Got a 4/5 rating from the crew so hell I might even go out and get my hands on this one, never been a Resi fan myself but its a good play none the less.

**** you Sony, **** you Capcom, and **** you people who bought this >:O

I'm really pissed off that Nintendo gets three great titles from Capcom that are supposed to be exclusive and they just wind up on Sony's system.

AND they add extra shit for RE4.

Hang on a minute Resident Evil should never have been on Nintendo console and it should no way have never been an Exclusive thats stupid move by Capcom seeing as how Playstation has always been the official home of Resident Evil and I think Capcom learned from there misteak with Resident Evil 4 after the Japnease backlash that wanted it on the PS2

Its good to see Resident Evil 5 will be back where its belongs on a sony console (PS3)

I agree, Ash2k. I don't own a Gamecube, so I haven't had the chance to play it yet. Quite excited about the ps2 version.

I'm sorry, but I can't take this level of retardation. Since the beginning Resident Evil has been ported to any platform that capcom sees some profit in. They even ported RE2 to the game.com. So in reality, it doesn't "belong" anywhere. However, if you want to continue arguing about some stupid home it has on a console, we can argue that final fantasy and a good deal of other series belong on a nintendo console or the msx. Furthermore, they never learned their "mistake." The problem was that they revealed a ps2 port BEFORE it had even come out on the Gamecube. If they had really wanted full profits they would have waited; but then again, when was the last time Capcom made a move so smart? Just be happy that you'll get to play this game. I know I sure was back in January.

Hey ****tard, have you ever played Final Fantasy?

Of course you have.

But wait, what's this? Wasn't Final Fantasy's original home on Nintendo?

Tch. F*cking idiot.

Actually, the only Resident Evil titles released strictly for Nintendo were the first Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil 0. The rest have just been licensed to the other consoles, but originally, Resident Evil started out on playstation and it was years before any other system picked it up.

I'm not going to bitch about consoles here for numerous reasons. As I said before, I don't even own a Gamecube and I bought the limited edition copy of Resident Evil 4 for Gamecube. I'll be buying it for PS2, also.

You've got to understand, for some diehard fans of PS2 and Resident Evil, we see Playstation as the series home console.

It'd be like Nintendo giving the rights to Playstation for a Zelda game which is a Playstation only exclusive. For diehard Nintendo fans, you'd probably feel a little pissed off about it (though most won't admit it).

It's just all on the fans of the consoles and the series...how they see things.

Belle, look at it from my point

Nintendo is, always has been, and always will be, my favorite vidoe game company and system creator. I always have the most fun on an Nintendo system.

I was a Sony fanboy in my younger high school days, until I finally got my hands on a Gamecube. I've loved it since.

From a person who is a diehard Gamecube fan, games like Viewtiful Joe, VJ2, and Resident Evil 4 gave a great life to the Gamecube, and were good things to add to a list of reasons to buy a Gamecube.

But no one is going to buy a system for one game, or for even three games, I know that. But they're still good reasons to buy the damn system.

By Capcom porting VJ, VJ2, and RE4 to Sony it takes away the edge Nintendo had over Sony in that respect, and for that I'm truly pissed off.

Understandable. I'm a diehard Playstation fan, myself. Nintendo is right behind it and Xbox...well, let's be honest. Xbox just blows.

Resident Evil 4 definitely helped Nintendo out. I loved RE4 for Gamecube. Plus, Gamecube is the only console with the chainsaw controller. Not to mention that every single Resident Evil title is now available on Gamecube (but I don't think Dead Aim is....it sucked anyway.).

To tell you the truth, I thought Nintendo did ****ing WONDERS for the first Resident Evil when they remade it. Beautiful graphics. Smooth gameplay. New terror awaiting around every corner. They gave that game one hell of a facelift and truthfully, I don't think Playstation will ever get t
