Personally, I'm not a big SC fan, but I got SCII just for Link and had some fun with the title. I'm thinking of getting SCIII solely for the Create a Character Mode. They have a vid of just how deep it is over at Gametrailers:

Soul Calibur 2 and Dead or Alive 2 are the best fighting games ever. Sophitia/Cassandra are the best, but SC3 on the PS2?!? Don't neglect the XBox and GCube Namco!!!

I heard awhile back that Dante from DMC was supposed to be in SCIII. Sadly, that is more than likely a rumor. It's a shame, though. I'd really like to kick somebodies (other than demons) ass with Dante.

I wouldn't be surprised if you can create Dante with the create-a-character mode.
But yeah, I want to get that game when it comes out. It'll be very interesting.

The Original Soul Caliber for Dream Cast is easily one of the best fighting games ever. There are so many Moves/combos/Grapples you can do.. it's intense. Cervantes is the best character I'd say though...

I wasn't a fan of the sequel though.. I couldn't handle the wacky controller sensativity fighting stuff. I dunno, I found it smoother on Dream Cast than on the Game Cube.. The New characters are a nice addition though. I imagine that the Third will live upto expectations.

SC3 is looking real good. All the new modes look awesome so I think I'll be getting me a copy when it hits shelves. Im sure ill have fun making my own character..

I just hope they didn’t mess with Ivy cuz she's my gurl.

Soul Calibur 3 looks amazing to me, and also my favourite 2 characters are back in it (Siegfried and Li Long) which should be good. And yeah the Character Creation mode looks good, im gonna make Scorpion and Jin Kazama first. (HOW TYPICAL

I can't wait until this game comes out, its gonna be off teh hizzy!! fo shizzle.

but yeah, I've got this kickass idea of making a Dante, but I wonder how I could make him using Nevan, cause that would be just crazy. If thats not possible, I'll settle for him using the Kalina Ann. Or Agni & Rudra.

I could see myself wasting hours just trying to make a messed up character... Ah, I hope the ideas are endless, but I wonder how they will pull such a thing off...

I just hope that I'll have some competition, cause I'm getting quite bored of SC2. In the arcade, my CQ char. has over 3K wins, without me even being there for over a month. Even at home, I was just messing around with my friends, but I ended up fighting one of my friends for over 2 hours, just cause he wanted to beat me so badly. I ended up getting like 50+ wins before I 'sliped up' and lost. Plus, the characters need a little balancing. Nightmare in SC2 is uber-cheap. Astaroth isn't strong enough. Kilik is still a scrub-magnet, and yes, so is Raphael...

So, just my 2 cents worth.

And 'lo and behold, you can, lmao! I saw pictures of characters that were made in SC3 from OPM. Not PSM, mind you. OPM.

Dante, Strider, Naruto, and a whole bunch of others. It's so awesome.

Heh what characters do you play as Rocky? You seem well versed in SC.

Heh i know what you mean about Astaroth, behind Voldo, Talim and Cervantes, i tried to make him one of my 4 mains (yes im trying to have 4 mains) but now my 4 mains are as follows:

1. Cervantes
2. Voldo
3. Talim
4. It used to be Astaroth but hopefully Siegfried will take over.

As for me, I really like to play as all of the characters pretty equally, mainly so I can get a hold of their strengths/weaknesses, etc. However, The ones I end up playing a lot are Nightmare, Cervy, and X b/c of their high-tierness, and I also end up enjoying to play a lot of Raph, Mitsurugi, and Yunsung just for a lot of fun. If anything else, I use these characters a lot.

And I am glad that your seeing that Astaroth isn't that much of a powerhouse. He could be, but the problem is that his vertical attacks have NO RANGE whatsoever, which totally contridicts his style, IMO. His speed isn't too bad, if you know how to buffer, but then again if you buffer a lot, why are you using Astaroth in the first place. And true, many people talk about getting 5 second victories vs. people using him, but you can do that with many other characters as well. Besides, why use a char like that when you can pick something stronger, faster, and more range, like Nightmare?

Trust me, Nightmare will probably take over your number one spot. Go to training mode, learn some good strings, and watch the wins pile up

Cervy will probably take a #2 spot, which isn't bad IMO, but he just can't compete vs. longer-ranged characters.

One more tip I almost forgot: Don't forget to throw occasionally. It works wonders, and really plays w/ your opponents.
