Seiken Densetsu 4 and Children of Mana DS
Just a scan I came across. SD4 is still not on a specified console (said to be multiplatform)
http://www.legal-speed.com/~matsu/kup/data/15092.jpg Interesting that it's Seiken Densetsu 4, which means they're not considering Legend of Mana as part of the series. |

Interesting enough. Seems they want to step away from the responsibility of being the producers of the game. I guess that would make it a sort of "Secret of Evermore 2", even though they aren't related in any way. Seems it'll go the same path as Threads of Fate and Chrono Cross, which IMO Squeenix has always wanted to demonize. They were pretty good games (well, threads of Fate not too much, more of an A/A game). I assume it was because LoM didn't have any relationship with the SD games (notice the story) besides the Mana Goddess, the spirits, and that the materials are named after famous sites from all three other games.
From the looks of it, it has pretty graphics, but there's still little info. I wonder if they'll use the same system as Sword of Mana, which was more like mixing SD2 and SD3's systems of Weapon Level improvement, Spirits-based magic and the oh-so balanced job class system. Attempting something different this time will end up as LoM, and I presume SE doesn't want an experiment like that (mind it, I don't plan to say LoM was bad, furthermore, i loved the game because of the customization capabilities). |

Yeah, LoM was never part of the SD series. It was part of the Mana series, but not Seiken Densetsu.
I think, before anything, they need to give a NA release of SD3 on GBA or something before they go and make a new SD game. |

Sean, I agree with you. A remake of SD3 wold be great for the GBA, or even for the DS. It is a great game, and SD 4 would be a good game,if the gameplay is going to be the same as the other games, considering the new console graphics, this could come out preety cool don't oyu think?

Ports and remakes are two different things. ![]() I'd have problems looking at the Seiken Densetsu series in a fully 3D perspective, I've been playing them in 2D my whole life. Hell, even Final Fantasy has never evolved into fully 3D worlds. Though, Xenogears on PSX was.... but that was a whole different franchise. Last edited by Sean; 09-29-2005 at 07:53 PM. |

And yes I'm, all for SD3 for the GBA/DS. I'm pretty sure what happened was, the development team behind the first three SD games broke off from Square, and formed up the name "Brownie Brown" and Square made LoM without them. Then, Brownie Brown came back to Square and made Sword of Mana for the GBA and mentioned they were working on new projects for the Ds at least. From the looks of the scan it looks like the DS game sports 16 bit graphics but will likely have an added flair in effects (as well as maybe music and sound quality) that the GBA won't be able to do, I'd rather see SD3 ported on the DS somehow just because some SNES to GBA ports, don't quite translate 100%. |

With the massive success of SD3, I wonder if SD4 will be able to live up to the Seiken Densetsu name...
I loved SD3, just about every part of it I liked, and I wonder how much will be the same as it was into SD4. It will be intresting to see, perhaps. I wonder if anybody knows anything else about this game, as the link the Cain gave me is broken |
