Gil as in Goth, gate or Lady Gaga.

If I remember correctly, in the American Super Nintendo version of Final Fantasy IV they switched it to "GP" as in gold pieces...FFIV was my first FF ever, so naturally, when I had first seen "Gil" in another FF title, I related it to the word gold. Makes sense to me, no matter how French I am.
I probably would have done the same even had I never seen the term gold or gold pieces attributed to the serie's currency.
I mean, do "krona" or "rupee" sound anymore "valuta"? O_o And those are REAL.

I've always pronounced Gil like the company Gillette. So, like the girls name Jill. But then I found out the correct way is with hard g sound like gate. well.. i pronounced "Gil" using a (g) just like the word "Gate". I like that pronunciation because it make me comfort everytime i pronounce it..
so that's why until now i keep saying it using a (g)

Nope, I'm English and me and everyone I know say Gil. As you can see, other Americans have said Jill, and that doesn't mean the whole of America does! Same goes for other countries. I say Gil because its like Gold, as in currency which is what Gil is. Plus it sounds better.
