Petition for FFVIII Remake

Over MSN, Crav3n and I decided to create a petition for the remake of Final Fantasy VIII for the Play Station 3.
After much debate, decided to place a thread concerning (advertising ^^') it here as opposed to the Final Fantasy VIII forum, since it seems to concern topics related to the current game and speculation over possible sequels/movies/remakes. Whereas here there are more announcements and such. So it's not due to ignorance if this is the wrong place to post this.

Our objective

We're aiming to get 20 000 signatures and sent it to Square Enix Japan in hopes of getting a remake of the game fitting our "brief", which can be viewed on the petition's main page.

Personally, I would love to see a remake of this absolutely spectacular game.

I think its time to give this game a second chance instead of it living in the shadows of the so called best Final Fantasy ever made (VII).

So help us with our cause! And finally give this game the reputation that is deserves.

It'd be really nice to see a FFVIII remake. I rekon they should grab voice actors used in Kingdom Hearts, also. David Boreneaz was a flawless Squall.

The game is fine as it is. Just play the original. And since you want a remake, this should have gone in the FFVIII forum, as you should have known. You said yourself the FFVIII forum deals with remakes, and that's what this topic is. >_>;

I wouldn't mind seeing a remake, just as long as they left everyone's personality and the main story line. I think the storyline could be cleared up a little, though, as it was quite confusing. All the time compression and looping around... that crap gives me a headache. You kind of already got to see what they look like all prettyful in better graphics from the movie scenes, so it wouldn't be anything new.; I thought those were stunning graphics back then, but now as I look at them, the new games' playing mode are better looking.

I wouldn't mind seeing a remake too. However, They shouldn't mess around with the story, Don't make a great thing bad, If they do, Just do it to upgrade the graphics, Dialogs with voice actors, Some new side quests and MAYBE a new SMALL story twist.

I was thinking that maybe they can make a part 2, But the way the story ended I don't think thats going to happen..

If it's remade, I would like MORE EXPLANATION. Squall dies twice during the game and is revived without explanation whatsoever (when impaled by Edea, and at the end). One of the things that pissed me off the most was that the ending (from the defeat of Ultimecia onward) did very little to tie the game together with an adequate amount of closure. That would be most excellent if it were fixed in any future release.

It would be interesting to see FFVIII into a remake. Not sure about it being a sequel but I could see a remake happening in the future. Just don't change the characters or the storyline but rather add in new stuff. Like new GF's, new side-quests, things like that.

I just signed the petition. It would be nice to see a remake for the game but I don't intend on getting a PS3 anyway so that's no good for me haha. As long as they didn't change anything about the storyline and such then I'm all for them remaking the game. I am not getting my hopes up about it though because I personally think it won't happen anytime soon. We'll just have to see what happens though eh?

I'm with Toph Bei Fong on this one.

Final Fantasy VIII, when it came out, was cutting edge, and really tested the capabilities of the PSX. Squall was purposely given a fur collar to challenge the graphic artists. To remake it now would be pretty pointless.

Perhaps another 5-10 years times, as happened with FFs I-VI. Sorry guys...

I would also like to see a remake. This was my favorite Final Fantasy game and it deserves a remake. If there is a remake I just hope that it sticks to the original.

I don't know, I'm not against it in fear that they would mess with it too much(such as the fear for VII), but I just don't feel it's needed just yet. To me the graphics aren't that outdated and the game to me just feels like a really complete game, so I don't see any real pluses to a remake.

Though I wouldn't be against a spin-off of this game at all, I don't know what it would deal with as I don't think a story after the story of VIII is real appropriate but I think there's definately more potential for expansion of the world of VIII.

So in all I'd love a spin-off or sequel/prequel, but I just don't see a need for a remake just yet.

I can't say honestly that I would support the idea of a remake, because I can't honestly see the point of it other than to make more money for SE. I think that you can go a little far with remakes, and it could set a precedent. I guess it makes me sound a purist but if it ain't broke, don't fix it

Although I will say I sort of semi-support the notion if only because I endorse people power. So in a contradictory way (hehe) I kind of wish you luck. Although if they remade there is no way I'd buy it.

I'll sign it as soon as my computer will load it. Because Final Fantasy VIII is my favourite out of the series and a remake would be nice. Even though I have no problem with the current game whatsoever.

I don't think the online petition would work though guys. I've never seen one work and i've signed a few in the years i've been online heh. But good luck.

I'd absolutely LOVE to see a re-make of Final Fantasy VIII.

No.

As a devoted fan of FFVIII, I was happy with it the way it was. The graphics weren't pitiful to ANY extent. In fact, they were excellent for its time. The FMVs lacked nothing- no point in revamping those. That, and the game is simply too old and as a result of its age has been overplayed. I doubt that Square fans would be appreciative of buying a ten-year-old game that only has accelerated graphics.

Sides, I'm not fancy with any of the new Square-Enix games. They'd mess it up by adding some sappy ass add-in or adding some supermagic that superboosts a stat or something. I wouldn't trust them with it. But signed. Hopefully, if one does happen, it still is FFVIII.

I'll sign it, but only because I'd like them to re-release the PC version so that it properly works on newer PCs. The PC version was great, but you can't have it look as great as it did with newer hardware.

i think they should remake ALL the early FFs - they were all great! yep, i'm all for it!

i agree with pulse, but i gotta argue that there could be so much more in the game - not just graphics issues, although it would be nice to see the characters less blocky all the time!
