Do you listen to Final Fantasy outside gaming?

I regularly listen to Final Fantasy music outside gaming. I also do Final Fantasy related piano and karaoke performances and attend Final Fantasy concerts held in the U.S. In middle 2007, I played Final Fantasy X's "To Zanarkand" on the piano at a disability institution and later at a recital. With the exception of Final Fantasy IV, I have first listened to music from each Final Fantasy game outside gaming before actually playing it for the first time. I have listened to Final Fantasy music outside gaming since May 2000, including music from Final Fantasy games I did not yet play at the time. I did not play Final Fantasy games besides IV until December 2000. I listened to MIDI renditions of music from Final Fantasy I and II one year before playing through them.

Yeah I listen to alot of Nobue even when I'm not playing. I have the soundtrack to VIII, X, Tactics, and then scattered songs from I-IX. I also like some of the Black Mages stuff, probably due to since I play guitar I appreciate it more. But yep good stuff!

Ah, the music of FF...
I do enjoy them some of the time. And as a collector of FF related goods, I can happily say I own a few soundtracks, most thanks to the wonderful importers scattered here and there.
As well as my soundtracks, I also have some cool midi collections for most of the games, and some other goodies ripped directly from NES/SNES.
I bloody *LOVE* chip music.

Besides playing Final Fantasy I also listen to the soundtracks on my ipod, I got the soundtracks of Final Fantasies 8, 9, 10, & 10-2 and when I'm at work I sometimes hum to the melody of the music without even thinking about it.

Well, i used to more than often, but then, i failed to get my hands on most so i slowly began deleting or losing them. I used to mostly listen to FFVII, FFVIII and FFX for the most parts, reminiscing on awesome vintage gameplay.

As much as "chip" music is partly unpleasant outside video games for me. I have yet to disagree with any. Those things are masterpieces!

It's almost pathetic how much chip music/later Final Fantasy soundtracks have replaced the "real" music I used to listen to. Ok, maybe not completely - but I've made dozens of chip music mix cds, and have personally ripped or purchased the ost for just about every Final Fantasy game - and I'd say about 40-50% of the time, when I want to listen to music, I'll reach for a video game soundtrack.

For christmas I got the 7 disc FFXI soundtrack boxset and so far this year I've listened to those incredible discs more than anything else. I also got an iPod touch to supplement my iPod video, so far I've only put video game music on it. The complete chip tunes for FFI, FFII, FFIII, FFIV, FFV, the DS version soundtrack for FFIII, and all 7 discs of FFXI are currently the only albums on there, and it's the one I plug in when I go for a drive .

So I guess the quick answer is yes lol.

EDIT: It's also worth noting that I actually got to meet/shake hands with Nobuo Uematsu himself! Before the Play! concert premiere in Chicago, Nobuo Uematsu had a autograph session at Tower Records. Like a star struck little girl I said "Mr. Uematsu, I just wanted to tell you that I adore your music and I'd like to ask you if I could shake your hand." A quick whisper from his translator, and he grinned widely and extended his hand - and I shook it. One of the greatest star struck moments of my life...

Ah yes, I own a few Final Fantasy CDs myself. One has all the FF7-FF9 music on it, and another has all the FF6 and below. Since I'm not a big music fanatic, I mostly listen to video game music because I prefer classical/pretty stuff for the most part. I've never been to a Nobuo Uematsu, but he's had concerts nearby in the past, and I really want to go to one of those ><.

I envy you I want to shake his hand! Your freaking lucky! I love all of Nobuo Uematsu's music. The man makes very good music, he deserves alot of admiration lol. Anyway back on topic: Of course I listen to FF outside of gaming! I know some of the best sites that has FFI-XII including sequals/spin-off's MP3's and Midis. Through FFI-XI excluding X-2 and the spin-offs are my most downloaded MP3's, easy to write them to CD's and use for my MP3 player.

I have most of the soundtracks downloaded but I rarely ever sit down and listen to them. I generally reach for Nobuo's Piano Collections from the FF games and throw those on, along with a select few "remixes" of amazing remixers playing older FF or other video game music on piano, like Chrono Trigger/Cross and Megaman. =D

Cutman Sonota by McVaffe ftw.

I'm with Sean. I have a lot of them, but my biggest interest are the remixes from OverClocked Remix. [/shameless plug] It just adds a nice twist to the original stuff that keeps it interesting.

Lol mostly everyone just mentions music. I guess no one tries to draw FF fanart or write fanfiction? Either someone forgot to mention it or none of you do that.

I did and I stopped but I'm trying to get back into it. I want to draw Zidane in lots of cool poses. And write some FF9 fanfics.

But I also bought the music while I was in Japan. The store in Akihabara I went to didn't have the complete original FF9 soundtrack though. Just 7 and 8. I did get the piano soundtrack for 9 and original soundtrack plus. Pretty songs.

It's sort of better to buy the original authentic soundtracks too because I notice, which you all probably also notice, that some FF songs that are on limewire tend to say they're a certain song but when you listen to it, it actually ends up being another song...

I love to listen to FF music, it is all over my mp3 player, and I have the FFXII soundtrack. I wish that I had more of the soundtracks, but sadly, I do not. I like the music from VII, VIII, and IX the best, but all of them are good.

I will join in the corus it seems, for I also love listening to game soundtracks outside the game itself. Although, it isn't just Final Fantasy for me... True, the FF games have provided some truly wonderful instrumentals that I simply cannot stop listening to, but my music selection also includes some of the most enchanting musicals my ears have ever had the privilege of listening to. Legend of Mana for the Playstation, for a prime example.

I have two of the CD's from the Final Fantasy VIII soundtrack. They were sent to us officially, pretty cool.

I don't really listen to them often anymore, though... I listen to some of it still. I have a CD of the FFIX soundtrack, which I listen to more than I listen to my VIII CD's... I just preferred IX.

Looks like I'm going to do a little necroposting...

Yes, I have a lot of albums on my iPod from Final Fantasy and I do listen to the music when I'm not playing the games. I own the soundtracks from VII, VIII, three versions of IX, X, and X-2 (yes, I have it, ). I also have the Crisis Core soundtrack.

I also own the remix/arranged versions of these albums. Final Fantasy S generation and Distant Worlds

I have the Kingdom Hearts albums: KH1, KH2, and also from the new DS game KH 358/2 days. They aren't Final Fantasy, but I figured I would go ahead and mention them.

If I listed all the VG music that I own, this post would be ridiculously long.
