Your craziest/most embarassing battle

Some battles stretch on and on for ages before you win. Some battles amaze you with their swiftness. Some battles unfold in the craziest of ways. And some battles end in tragedy, due to the most embarassing circumstances.

Personally, the craziest battle I can remember is in FFVI. I returned to the Opera House after the catastrophe and found myself battling the fearsome Earth Dragon. After Mog had shifted the battleground to the plains with a dance, Mr. Dragon proceeded to floor the party with his earthquake attacks, save for a certain gambler, vis-a-vis Setzer. It seemed that I had unwittingly equiped him with armour that absorbed Earth damage. So for every few hundred HP he lost from physical attacks, he gained a lot from the earthquakes. What followed was a pretty insane battle where Setzer duked it out with his saurian foe for somewhere around twenty minutes, possibly more, armed with little more than a set of darts and a non-euclidian slot machine.

I won eventually.

I remember I used to have a hell of a time beating Materia Keeper on my first playthrough in FF7. Anyway, I remmeber once the battle was going well and I was dealing damage as well as maintaining my party with a stable hp when i accidentally used an elixir on Materia Keeper! Naturally I switched the game off before anything else could happen.

In Final Fantasy VIII I was up to the final battle against Ultimecia/Griever and I was having a lot of trouble trying to keep my people alive. I had tried fighting her several times before and everytime I lost. I had Squall, Rinoa and Zell in my party because they were my strongest. I thought I was getting close to beating the final boss when suddenly she decides to kill Squall and Zell. I was thinking 'this is it, I'm done for...again.' I decided to keep up the faith and let Rinoa use her limit break, she used invisible moon... so she was invisible. I decided to just use Rinoa to hit her one last time with another limit break, luckily enough I was able to use Wishing Star and I WON! If she didn't use Wishing Star I probably would have lost.

Ive had so many stupid battles when Ive wasted a lot of time trying to get to it but the worst would have to be against seiphroth, It was my 1st RPG and I didnt have the faintest idea of what I was doing, spent ages watching bizzaro energy, didnt lose just decided to give up and come back to it later, next time I used ultima and it was a peice of cake

Materia Keeper is a tricky one. I once forgot about his elemental alignment and let Vincent go into Galian Beast mode. Then he used Beast Flare. Yup, just kept on healing the little bugger. It took longer than normal, but I actually ended up beating him. I try not to take Vincent up Mt. Nibel anymore.

One I remember when I was in FFX...I was fighting that byotch Yunalesca, and had neglected to level up, spending an hour of fighting the chick with her weird...growths...

She was almost dead, I had a grand summon up my sleeve, she attacks, two partymembers KO, Yuna left standing, omg heal!
I cast cura and KILL MYSELF.

Stupid zombie.
I hate it when I remember the stupid things I do.

I once tried training my party in FFIX against the Grand Dragons outside Daguerro on Disc 3. Eiko was around Lv. 24 or something and needed beefing up. Big mistake. She was the only character in the party who didn't have Auto-Reflect if I remember correctly, and someone else who needed it just as badly was equipped with the Reflect Ring. After five or so attempts (all involving several KOs) I finally realised that it wasn't working.

Why can't there be monsters that dish out shedloads of EXP but don't take much to beat? Stupid Square...

Well, from my part, I've experienced many stupid battles, but I remember one.

FFX. Omega weapon. This battle took about one and a half hour.
I had about 30 megalixirs. The battle started as boring as ever. After almost every hit, I had to cure my characters with Megalixir. One hour the same hit-and-cure tactic.
As you prodably guessed it, I ran out of megalixirs. That was some serious problem. Trust me. I was writing my last will, but then I realized something. MAGUS SISTERS!! I used them and killed Omega. But oh my god was I furious.
About 30 megalixirs gone, all because I didn't think.

And then I remember fighting Storm Dragon in FFVI. Opened the chest and there it was. I didn't except that, but I didn't have a choice. I was killed .
But then, I came back and kicked it's sorry ass. In about one hour .

For me, FFIX is the worst for drawn-out battles. And naturally, it's the bosses I struggle with. I have a very basic walkthrough guide that tells me what items each boss holds (and that's the only part of the book worth bothering with). So I always get Zidane stealing, and stupidly I have the rest of the party defend all the time, except for my healers, and Vivi, who sometimes fires off a Slow spell or two. I don't recommend using that strategy, because it sucks! I nearly died fighting Nova Dragon on Disk 4, and it took me well over 30 mins. It really helps to know roughly how much damage a boss can take, so you can stop hitting them in time to nab all the items. Ends the fight quicker

My stupidest battle was against Kefka in FF VI. It was my firs battle and as soon as I entered the battle, before I could input ANY command, He used Fallen Angel to reduce my entire party to 1HP, then he attacked 4 times in a row after that to wipe out my party! I WAS FURIOUS! Luckily it never happened again and I destroyed him on my 2nd go.

I also found FF VII's Ruby Weapon and Emerald weapon irritating. ESPECIALLY RUBY!

I have a few embrassing boss battles:

Final Fantasy 7

While fighting Emerald Weapon I forgot to equip the Underwater Materia, I was pressing the buttons so hard that accidently casted Curaga on on him instead of on Cloud and one Emerald Beam later... Game Over lol.

Final Fantasy X

When fighting Seymour's first form for the first time, I had to leave on a trip, and I was pressing the buttons harder then ever and kept attacking the Guado guardians instead of Seymour, then I attacked him but the guardians kept healing him, after I finally beat them Seymour summons Anima and my nightmare begun. I was too slow and he casted pain of tidus , then yuna and I only had Rikku left then but she was sooo weak and Anima's overdrive finished my team off in less then a minute.

Final Fantasy X-2

I was playing X-2 for the first time and while fighting the Magus Sisters on the farplane I accidently used my last Megailxer on them because i wanted a challenge from them, but the challenge turned deadly as they performed Delta Attack and killed all my characters, it was so embrassing. Some challenge lol, yeah game over for me!

Well I it was in VII. I was playing the battle when you play as cloud and Sephiroth in the past. Cloud got killed since he was fighting an obviously superior beast. I got killed and was just confused I thought I had to actually beat him with just Sephiroth, and I didn't know how I'd manage. Haha little did I know he killed it in 1 or 2 hits. Haha I felt so stupid after.
