Never ask why it's called "Final" Fantasy again!

The game Final Fantasy was released as a last(final) hope of the company which is now know as "Square Enix". The game was huge hit and saved the company, and as you can see they still appericate what the game did for they.

well sed. it doesnt matter wat its called, as long as it entertains people then it should keep going. Its like the Never-ending story then eh?? We just keep coming bak 4 more knowing that it will never end

its called final fantasy because the games creator was gonna retire after he made this game so he called it final fantasy.

I have to agree with this... I don't really pay too much attention to the name, although it is kind of a weird name... on a side note, i have a question that I can't seem to find a place to put, so i'll ask here... has anyone played a game so much that when they're not playing it, like sleeping they think they're actually in the game, and try to make their actions fit the game?

I think everyone here is right. I am glad the series hasn't ended yet. I have really enjoyed each and everyone, and have played each of them at least 5 times, and plan on playing them again and again.

I was wondering that for a while unyil i did the research to find out.
I'm glad that they did't end up being bankrupt. I enjoy playing them all so much without it I wouldn't want to imagine how The game indistry would be without FinalFantasy games.

ok.... We all love final fantasy, or else we would have never stumbled upon this site. One thing.... Stop saying the same thing over and over people! Just read the FIRST post and if you don't want to read the whole thing he put it in BOLD letters for you all. Its kinda literal, and yeah, that is the truth. I already read this in an article in a game magazine. I was surprised to find it here too. And yeah, they all were bankrupt before they became successful. But if that didnt happen, I am not playing my favorite game right now.

i've read that before too. i got some stuff to say. what if square made a new series kinda similar but very different like "the fantasy" or "warrior's edge" those sound like some cool titles.

I can't remember when exactly it was, but the G4TV show Icons did a show about Final Fantasy. Did anyone else see it? They did one on Square as well, but I can't remember which show explained the "Final" part... still good shows though.

Yeah I remember reading about Square's big break after Final Fantasy 1 came out in PSM a few years ago, but you always hear from people that Final Fantasy 7 was the game that changed the world, not true it was Final Fantasy 1 that started the whole thing. Without Final Fantasy 1 there would had NOT been a Final Fantasy 7.

I found out the true reasons to the name "Final Fantsy" back in 2002. Before that I just thought it was called Final Fantasy because before 10-2 there were no 'story-line' sequels to FF, making each story in the series final.
